The only thing not functioning in the generic Adobe Raw convertor (which is pretty lousy anyways, Nikon Capture delivers much better quality) are the custom white balance settings.

Honestly I feel like this is complaining about needing a CD player after you buy a CD (or some kind of CD recording device).
Remember we're still paying to Philips and Sony for every player?

Along with Nikon Capture comes a (as far as I know) fully NEF compatible photoshop plugin. (made by Nikon obviously)

I don't think Nikon ever imagined this would cause such a fuss. Because D2x owners (a $5000+ piece of equipment) will easily spend the extra $140 for Nikon Capture and full NEF conversion support anyways.

But of course "Help! Help! I'm being oppressed" makes great headlines. ;)

Also, let's not forget how easy software installation on Windows and MacOS is.
    Download setup.exe, install, run.
No dependencies (except a few possible dll's, which can be included with the application), no compiling, no need for 50 libs on your system to match a certain version number. It just works. More often than not anyways.

For many users it would make the transition to a Linux desktop much easier if (desktop) Linux software could be installed as easily. Just a simple package which doesn't have to care about the rest of the system.

Yes, Java/Python/.Net etc. are a possible way to go, but those applications still often depend on a bunch of libs and aren't known for their cpu and memory friendliness either.

Also you need internet to move into 'offline mode' .. too bad for people without internet.
Also patches are now 'conveniently' sent through Steam, so no more delivering patches on CD.

Umm .. the .Net library has a namespace called System.Windows which contains all the windows-specific functionality (COM, System.Windows.Forms, etc).

Nobody is forced to use this namespace, nor can we blame MS for offering Windows-only functionality.
.Net is undeniably built with Windows in mind, but it's hardly 'win32-based'.
The runtime runs just fine on any platform (Rotor and Mono show this) and the library is clearly devided between Windows libs and 'common' libs like XML, SOAP, HTTP, etc.

There are also plenty third party libraries available to enable platform independence. (GTK#, WX#, etc.)

Making a massive spoiler and selling it is perfectly legal.
Hacking a game and distributing the hack should also be perfectly legal. (in a sane world)

It becomes more complicated if you use a hack in a multiplayer game, which is a service with rules. Break those rules and you can lose the right to use the service. (makes sense)

Getting sued for altering your own property in your own home is an abuse of the justice system.

Methylchloroisothiazolinone (5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolinon-3-one) is a preservative with antibacterial and antifungal effects, it is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeast and fungi.

It is found in many water-based personal care products and cosmetics. It is also used in glue production, detergents, paints, fuels and other industrial processes. Methylchloroisothiazolinone is known by the registered tradename Kathon CG when used in combination with methylisothiazolinone.

It can be used in combination with alcohols and other long-chain organics in compounds such as methylchloroisothiazolinone ethylparaben benzalkonium chloride or methylchloroisothiazolinone 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol benzalkonium chloride.

It was first used in cosmetics in the 1970s. In high concentrations it can cause chemical burns and it is a skin and membrane irritant and so it was largely removed from most cosmetic products except for those with only short duration skin contact such as rinse-offs. Its inclusion in certain forms makes it more acceptable to sensitive users, so it can be found in cosmetic creams and lotions which require skin contact. In the US accepted concentrations are 15 ppm in rinse-offs and 8 ppm in other cosmetics.

Like a number of other common cosmetics ingredients methylchloroisothiazolinone has been attacked as carcinogenic.
