It's a kinda common misconception there.. it's actually if you're USING a reciever to watch TV... if its not tuned in, they have no case against you, although im sure they'd have a good go at arguing with you, even if they are wrong.

About a week ago (im in the UK), i cancelled my TV license? the reason? I just moved into a new place and after 3 weeks still had NO inclination whatsoever to plug the aerial into the TV... and still don't.. .so i thought fuck it, I'll just download stuff when I want it.

Downloading may 'kill the movie business' (yeah, right), but it CERTAINLY will NEVER kill TV . tv is that thing people slob in front of if theyve got nothing to do, its the thing people get addicted to... downloading stuff will always be a computer guy's 'thing'... it's unlikely to ever be mainstream...

I don't agree that NOONE is. I know a HELL of a lot of people who just hacked their xbox to run XBMC, as did I - it's an absolutely outstanding piece of software and really is worth the ~£30 price of a modchip. Occaisionally, I do download games and have a play, but mainly, i just like to use it as a brilliant file server & media center.

I use firefox. i LIKE firefox... but i've simply had enough of the sensationalist bullshit that seems to persist on the spread firefox site. it seems full of over-excited teenagers who think that firefox IS the world. No, it really isn't.

'A declaration of independence from a stagnant web' STAGNANT WEB? No, ALIVE web, STAGNANT browsers because noone really wants to adopt endless new stnadards which can't be embraced for 5 years anyway.

It just drives me nuts... and all this ego shit doesn't do ANY good for the OS community, it just makes it look stupid and shallow. Firefox is not god like.. its very good, but this spread firefox thing just comes across like a jovial camp guy at a funeral. Shut up won't you?
