Why on Earth would they expect that? Behaviour is clearly influenced by environment.

That issue is hardly clearly one way or the other. The Nature vs. Nurture battle has been going on for a long time. It's very naive of you to believe you are so special that you are privi to the answer most psychologists would love to have. How much research have YOU personally done in that field? None? You probably haven't done any. When you say "Behaviour is clearly influenced by environment" in that context, you are implying that you believe nature has no role. Anybody who has studied this topic at all would immediately cite reasons to strongely disagree with you.

There are people who study this day in day out and make a living trying to figure out the answer to that question, and even THEY don't know with enough certainty to say one way or the other. Oh, sure, some of them will take a stance on one or the other side, but in the end they'll still admit they aren't really sure. It isn't clear, and you clearly do not know enough to have a valid hypothesis. The only thing you have is an uneducated opinion.

But then, you were too busy being an anonymous troll to make any kind of sense, huh?

Sometimes something can "LOOK RIGHT" and still not "FEEL RIGHT". A great example of this is Trillian for Windows, using the XP Theme. IT LOOKS like it's using the XP widgets and gadgets, but it doesn't FEEL like it is. This isn't exactly a bad thing though, since it still responds fairly well and it does (after a fashion) perform somewhat like you would expect.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, there are programs that look absolutely nothing like they are using any kind of standard, but under the looks they work perfectly fine.

It's hard to really draw up some kind of judgement system though. Some people don't care how something "feels" as long as it works. Some people don't care if it works as long as it's pretty. Some people don't care if it's pretty as long as it "feels" right. And of course functionality, form, and fashion can have as much to do with with individual software design as it does the environment it's running under so...

I've had to make a few changes, but mostly the game mimicks the story of the original Bard's Tale pretty closely, thus some knowledge of the game must be had in order to fully enjoy the mod. I can't explain that to "today's" breed of game players. They think they should just be able to go anywhere and do anything.

I guess that's normal in whatever games they've been playing, but it isn't in any games I've been playing. Maybe they've confused Neverwinter Nights for a MMORPG or something. Whatever the case, those who knew Bard's Tale have thoroughly enjoyed the NWN conversion.

Maybe the hordes of Linux users joining the game will bring some much needed fresh blood that can appreciate a good mod.
