I'd really like to know where you got the idea that AAC is more open than MP3. Both of them are patent-encumbered, which makes legal open implementations impossible.
I tried in some ubuntu forums but the only answer I got was "your computer ACPI is broken"... which is stupid as "the ohter" operating system can hybernate and suspend without problems.
No, it's not stupid because it's true. What's really stupid is the idiots who made your laptop didn't bother to build a proper ACPI implementation. They hacked up something, tested it under Windows, found no issues, and said "OK, we're done".
The problem is not that Linux developers "cant get along with the technology development speed", it's hardware developers that make their hardware specifically for Windows, without bothering about standards compliance. Linux can't do anything about the Windows monoculture destroying industry standards.
No. MMOs stay alive by making the player do boring repetive tasks, and make him somehow believe that what he is doing is gratifying (zomg I leveled up!!!!!1), so he'll get addicted and keep paying for his subscription as long as possible.
But gameplay? LOL. MMOs aren't about interesting gaming experiences.
To all you people finding single-player FPS games too short: try increasing the difficulty. I could be wrong but you probably finish the game too quick because it's too easy for you.
I played Half-Life 2 at Hard difficulty and it took me 2-3 weeks of semi-regular play to finish it. And boy was I satisfied when I cleared it, because it was tough as nails. Which is how we should play first person shooters IMHO. I don't understand people who play a FPS at easy, as it turns the game into a glorified 3D point-and-click-fest. The real fun in a single-player FPS experience is having a constant feeling of being in danger because nearly everything you see wants to kill you, and can easily do so.
I had decided that my next machine was going to be a nice Intel Mac after 15 years of PCs. On the strength of this, I'm not sure I want to give my hard earned money to a firm who are going to start playing silly like this. I could just about forgive their last attempt but this is getting out of control. As the OP said, it's free advertising! OTOH I suppose it's also true that in the US at least a company has to be seen to try to protect a trademark otherwise they could lose it. Ah dammit, choices, choices.
You're not the only one. Everytime I think about getting myself one of them neato Macs, Apple launches yet another very questionable legal action and I suddenly lose all interest. I have no respect for companies that pull shit like this. They're almost attacking freedom of speech.
Your statement makes very little sense. People who vote for Bush don't watch the Daily Show, or at least not many of them. You're talking as if the entire fucking country was watching Jon Stewart every weekday evening.
Wii is $50 more expensive than promised, and still doesn't have DVD support.
Wait, what? Do people still give a damn about DVD support on a video game console in 2006? Nowadays if you still haven't bought a cheap standalone DVD player for your living room you are most likely not interested in DVDs anyway.
Actually I don't think holding the nunchuck with the right hand is such a bad thing. After all, right-handed people have always used an analog stick with their non-dominant hand's thumb, right? We southpaws can handle it too.
Yeah, it's such a bitch that Gentoo forces you to update your system regularly... No wait, it doesn't. If you find world updates tedious and annoying, then just don't fucking do them. End of story. There's also nothing stopping you from updating only specific packages. You could even mimic other distros and do a world update only a few selected times per year. Gentoo really gives you lots of possibilities on how to manage your own upgrading cycle.
Of course, if a package requires a more recent version of one of its already installed dependencies, Portage will update it, but that's it. As for security updates, glsa-check (part of gentoolkit) can take care of it painlessly.
Don't give up yet! KDE4 is actually going to be less ressource-intensive than 3, due to major cleanups and enhancements in both Qt4 and the core KDE4 libraries.
Oh great. Now it look as "real" as Babylon 5. The models always looked a zillion times better than anything but the most EXPENSIVE digital images. Even the expensive ones can look crappy--see Star Wars Episode 1. Just because some guy uses Bryce instead of painting on glass doesn't make the planets look more real.
I'm not sure what you're talking about. I was introduced to Babylon 5 last year and I thought it looked great, especially considering it was made back in a time where CG was still a new and unrefined art. And computer-generated terrain using Bryce or something similar DOES make more convincing planets than fucking paintings on glass.
No offense but you sound like a technophobe who automatically dismisses everything computer-made.
You can't retrieve Songs from the iPod. (yes there are programms available)
Why do people keep spreading this bullshit? The songs are stored as plain files in/iPod_Control/Music/F?? (where ?? is some numeric value apparently used by some hashing algorithm). Yes, the filenames are lost, but basically any modern file manager (including XP's Explorer of course) displays the metadata so it's not really hard to guess which file is which song.
FAAC and FAAD exist. There's a bit of a dance to be done, but it works.
I know about them, in fact I do use them (iPod owner and Linux user). But they're still illegal implementations because of the patent licensing fees.
I'd really like to know where you got the idea that AAC is more open than MP3. Both of them are patent-encumbered, which makes legal open implementations impossible.
I think "the market" may be more web-savvy than YOU!
No, only in Soviet Russia.

Chuck Norris won't die though.
Yoshi's Island was fun in 320x240,
Actually the SNES ran at the very crappy resoluton of 256x224! Yoshi's Island still looked awesome though (and IMHO still does).
Google builds, not buys.
So I take it you're one of those people who think Google made Google Earth (formely Keyhole) and Picasa from scratch?
MMOs live and die on the _gameplay_
No. MMOs stay alive by making the player do boring repetive tasks, and make him somehow believe that what he is doing is gratifying (zomg I leveled up!!!!!1), so he'll get addicted and keep paying for his subscription as long as possible.

Microsoft bought out Hironobu's or payed them a truckload of cash
No, they gave him fat sacks full of money, so he can use it to make himself some money hats.
I had decided that my next machine was going to be a nice Intel Mac after 15 years of PCs. Glad they finally reproduced them nifty dashboard interfaces from those historic Japanese battles.
the Wii may be the Snakes on a Plane of consoles
Motherfucking Wii in my motherfucking living room?
The team that opened the box were quickly overtaken by giant enemy crabs. ...coming straight from ancient Japan.

Here's an iPod Nano case for $12,495. And yes, it's a retail product, not a one-of-a-kind art piece.
And it's the only case where the iPod is included. Wow!
Oh great. Now it look as "real" as Babylon 5. The models always looked a zillion times better than anything but the most EXPENSIVE digital images. Just like the TV series, the movies are available only in the US. Way to go Apple.

Why do people keep spreading this bullshit? The songs are stored as plain files in
A perfectly fine operating system.
That is until IBM killed it.
There's also Fucking Kill 101, but that one is optional.
