Opened up a case to install a new hd for a buddy of mine, and the entire bottom of the case, the top of the cd rom drive, the hard drives, floppy drives, pretty much everything was covered in mouse turds and big yellow/black urine stains. How the computer was still running was beyond me. I set the jumper on it and just explained how to hook it up. He hooked it up himself and didn't even bother cleaning up the mess (or to put out mouse traps for that matter) Computer ran just fine for several years after that. How the motherboard withstood it is beyond me.

Even picked up a few to replace bad hds in computers I've worked on for other people. No complaints, and everyone I installed one for was amazed by how much faster their computer was (though the fresh windows install helped a little there). I stopped using Maxtor when my friend went through 3 of them in a little over a year, and then my 4GB Maxtor died. But I guess YMMV.

You didn't say "most" so I really can't argue this point, because it all depends on your definition of the word "many". If you think 10 people who don't connect their computer to the internet, or rarely bother to turn it on, is "many" then i guess, yeah, this is true.

"You see, the OP suggested that a user was fooled before Vista."

Oh, lets just run down the list:

Windows 98 SE, a patched OS sold as an operating system.

Windows ME, Windows 98SE with a new skin and more bugs.

Windows NT, Windows 98 with better networking abilities. I once heard it described as "trying to make a car fly by gluing wings on it" I couldn't agree more.

Windows XP - While easily the best OS they've released so far, that's not really saying much. That's like being the smartest kid on the short bus. I've ranted enough about how much I hate XP. But here's a quick run down: From a security stand point it was Swiss Cheese when it was released. The activation process is a PITA and really only hurt people who bought XP (much like WGA), seeing as it available online without it almost as soon as it was released.

    And now Vista.

That doesn't include their other software. Like Media Player, IE, Outlook, Office (which is such great software, that their own email and msgr services wont allow you to send any doc created with it through them)

But yeah, Microsoft makes great OS's.

Wow, you want to ban something you don't like. That's a rather self-centered way to view the world. I admit that part of the porn industry (like any other industry, only more so) is corrupt and vile. But not all of it. Some people ENJOY being watched while performing coitus. And some people enjoy WATCHING. Porn can be a perfectly healthy part of a relationship. It can make things more exciting and it can help rekindle a dying love life. This ban on pornography, while making you feel like you've done some good, could easily hurt other people. When you don't like something, stay away from it and keep your kids away from it. Turn off the tv, disconnect from the internet, whatever makes you feel safe. Don't, however, go on a moral crusade and try to force your beliefs on everyone else. Not everyone agrees with you.
