I am a Canadian and personally think that white supremists or any other group that has a general hate for people because of relgion, skin color, etc. are scum of the earth. However, I do not think that the ISP should be held responsible for what these people did. This would be equivilent of somebody posting racist remarks on slashdot and having the owners of slashdot held liable for this.
In general though I think that Canadian laws go to far in outlawing hate speach. Could hate speach not be considred a freedom of expression? Where is the line drawn on what is considred hate speach and what is considred freedom of speech? Could the same laws that outlaw hate speech be somehowe turned against us and used against people's freedom of speech?

$10.50 and hour! I'd be rolling in the cash then! I'm only making $10 Canadian, (that's like 8.20 USD) and I've been out of college for a year and still looking for a programming job. The industry is dead. Why would anybody want to enter it? Out of all the people that graduated from my class only a hand full of them actually got jobs as programmers.
How I wish I how had your job. I finished college last May and could not find work as a programmer at all. Now I'm working in a call center for $10/hr Canadian. Somebody shoot me. There are no jobs here.
Enterprise could have been so damn good but those jokers Berman & Braga brought us this bastardization of star trek instead.
At first I though that it would be great to see "space cowboys" enter the new frontier much like it was the wild west, meeting races that would found the United Federation of Planets and solving thier conflicts, etc. Instead they created this bullshit series with no plot, very little character, and some of the worst damn stories ever, then brake all star trek cannon that was established in all other treks (Klingons way to early and not even that disatrious, Borg, Ferengi, stupid fucked up Vulcans, Klingon home world a few days away, and the list goes on). I really don't know how anybody could watch this show. It was fucking AWFUL. I watched the first 2 season with the hope that it would get better, but it didn't, it got worse. It almost hurt to sit and watch these shows they were so bad. I shut it off after season 2 and never watched it again.
Let Star Trek die for a few years, and all those winny bastards that keep saying "save enterprise" are nothing more then a bunch of retarded snot nosed kids who just want to save it for sake of having trek on TV no matter how bad the series is. As Trekkies we should not stand for this. Just because it is "trek" the studios will think that they can feed us anything.
Am I the only one that thinks that the current laws that are trying to be passed are as scary as hell and are taking away the rights of U.S. citizens?
Does the U.S. Department of Defence really need to spy on it's own people? The U.S.A. is really starting to scare the hell out of me with more and more of these silly laws trying to be
passed. Thank goodness I'm a Canadain.
I had similar experince just the other day using Firefox on Windows. My McAfee virus scan went crazy telling me that there was a javascript (no suprise that it was javascript but I can't ever remember having somethink like this happen with Firefox) file trying to run and the path that it was pointing to was in the mozilla directory, McAfee was unable to quartine or delete it (even though I went to another page and went to Privacy options and clicked the clear cache button) so I had to do it manually. The file was some type of javascript file (according to McAfee Virus Scan) but I could not see it for myself, McAfee was pointing to C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\9mwg5m76.slt\Cache\_ CACHE_001_\somename.js
I have also had one occasion where Firefox would start to download an executable file and ask me where I would like to save it, I just cancelled out of it, but none the less it was trying to download an exe file.
My computer has been running slowly since then which makes me think that there may be some type of virus, trojan, or spyware running but McAfee virus scan and Spybot tell me different.
I was hopping they would cancel this show and put us trek fans out of our misery. This has to be easily the worst Star Trek series ever. DS9 was ok, Voyager was bad, but Enterprise is just awful. I really like how the idiot producers have destroied Star Trek and how the show has become so boring, with the same stupid stories that have been told for the last ten years being used over and over.
In my opinon this show should have died a long time ago, and Star Trek should have been put to rest for a while, so that maybe in a few years it could have been revived with some fresh writers and some enthusiasm for a new series.
Sadly we're stuck with this crap that's nothing but a bunch of shows with no plot and boring characters, and don't even get me started on how this show has destroyed trek continuity with the orginal series.

I don't think that he is talking about any recent photos, in this short
interview with Popular Science in 2002 he also talks about his belief of vegetaiton on Mars. The magazine had pictures of what he considered to be vegetation but sadly this link does not have any pictures.
We all know that a lot of U.S. and U.K. companies are moving their jobs overseas. Are there also a lot of companies from other countries such as Canada, Australia, etc. moving jobs over there as well?
It is most often said, often by large companies that do a lot of outsourcing to India, that the only work being sent to India is boring repeative jobs like call center jobs and low end programming jobs. Is this true or is there a lot interesting high skilled research and development jobs being done over there by large American companies?
I agree, it sounds as if they are just making simple little executeable files in visaul basic that formats the hard drive, deletes files, or whatever. I'm sure most people on slashdot could write a program that deletes files or formats the hard drive, give it some type of a name like "ScreenSaver", compile it, and send it in an e-mail to somebody.
I really think that Mozilla Firebird for Windows is/was a great browser, I switched from Internet Explorer to Mozilla 1.5 months ago, and fell in love with that browser, then I download Firbird 0.7 and was completely blowen away, I've been using Firebird for about two months now and I don't think that I could ever go back using Internet Explorer.
I found that Mozilla 1.5 was a great browser but it seemed slow compared to I.E., once I started using Firebird I found that it was one wicked browser, with most of the great features of Mozilla 1.5 but just as fast, if not faster, than I.E.
I've been preaching both Mozilla and Firebird to everybody that I know and had some of the them try it out, almost everybody found that Mozilla or Firebird was superior compared to I.E.
I really think that Firebird is a great browser with huge potential, but I think that changing it's name is only going to hurt it. Firbired was a great browser with a great name that people were getting know and changeing the name is only going to create confusion among the people that are not so computer literate. I really like the name Firebird but I can't really say that I like the name Firefox, oh well at least it's the same great browser.
Yes it will balance out when most of current developed countries are just like the third world countries of today and then counties like India and China will outsource their work here becasue it's cheaper.
Yeah but if all of the middle class jobs are sent overseas then who in the hell is going to have money to build new houses so that we can do our carperntry, plubing, etc. jobs?
A good windows site something similar to Slashdot that I just discovered this week is ActiveWin. There doesen't appear to be very many users there and I've only seen a few posts on the site but I think that it has potential. From the few posts that I have ever saw there seems to be a lot of Linux haters, kind of reminds of the all windows haters on slashdot. The site is almost some type of strange backwards Slashdot about Windows and windows software that has very few users.
I agree. It's looking more and more like it's not worth going to college and that a person would be better of getting a trade such as a plumber, carpenter, or welder. These trades actually pay half decent and they cannot be outsourced. I'm currently in college and will soon be graduating with a diploma in informaiton technology. Before I went to college I worked in a factory for two years, by the look of it I would have been better of if I had stayed working at the factory then going to college because I'll be makeing the same if not less in the IT industry then I was making at the factory and did't have burden of paying back a huge student loan.
I can only hope that the rumor is true and that the show is axed. I use to be a big star trek fan until this show began. Even though it was bad I watched it anyways hoping that someday the show would suddenly get better. It never did get better so I just stopped watching it and I don't miss it one bit. I can only hope that the show gets axed and that we don't see another trek for another four of five years. I would hate to see the star trek franchise die but they use the same boring stories over and over and they have run out of ideas. I think that what really killed star trek was right after one series ended a new one would begin giving no real break in between and not building up any hype for a new series.
I thought that the idea of going back to an earlier point in time for a trek series was a good idea but I didn't really like the idea of going back to the 22nd century unless they were going to do it right. To the best of my knowledge space travel of the 22nd century, according to trek lore, was suppose to be more of an old west/cowboy feel instead of the crap that they tried to feed us. I think that if they were going to set a series in the past it should have been set between the movies based on the original series and the next generation. I think that we should have seen a series with the captain and crew of the Enterprise B.
If they do kill the series they should wait a few years and come out with and remake of the original series. I think that this series should be remade and would be very successful assuming that they don't change everything that was good about it and recycle the same stories over and over.
For all the Two-tier, user-fee health care Canucks in the house, here's something that's true but you can't say:
Two-tier, user-fee health care isn't the way of the future.
There, I said it.
