Does anyone know any projects to get one started with c/c++? It doesnt matter which one i'm learning them both at the same time, but most of the above sugggestions involve gui libraries, which are built into some languages like java, but theres really no standard for c/c++. what library would someone suggest learning to be able to start a simple project?
thank you for restateing the bleedingly obvious. yes we already knew that it was registered to google. that was established a long time ago. thanyou for discovering whois. go wallow in your stupidity somewhere else.
If I understand what you're asking, SVG would be a good choice. Bullet sharp text that prints excellently. It can be automatically generated and is based off of xml so it shouldn't be too hard to intergrate.
true apple does build software to run on specific hardware, similar to the way games for consoles are written to take advantadge of the specific hardware, but mac's do have a relativly huge driver base. Plug n play n go.
Well look, if every game on the ps2 used the same graphics engine, then they would all look like first gen peices of crap! But by allowing developers to develop(keyword develop) their own engine, it allowed for graphical masterpeices (relativly) like MGS2 et al. Perhaps this will prevent ho hum battry management from sony but instead lead to talented developers making their ownsystems that preform much better. Plus they can liscense it and make a pretty buck off of it. Anyways at this rate sony better pull a trump card becuase it sounds like they're loosing customersf fast!
hah! slashdot! unbiased! which slashdot are you reading? why i bet half the comments on this site come from them bastids in the middle east!
(its called sarcasm)
the article states that Seirra/VUG has up to six monthes to publish the game, in order to comply with their 2001 contract with valve. Just as valve in order to comply with the contract has to release hl2
yeah that happens to me too. it's an awesome program but it's still lacking a few things.
such as file transfer compatability with the windows AIM client!
what happens when a binary uses libraries that aren't installed on the host computer or makes a system call unsupported by the host os? a hardware emulator can't compensate for that unless it's running another os on top of the host.
yeah i get that too, it makes it especially dificult to find config files for packages such as apache, i end up doing a "find / | grep 'string'" which works most of the time, but it would be nice if portage told you where it put things.
although his influence on open source in general may not be as large as some of the heavy hitters, he not only opensources his engines after they become less liscensed, but also supports the open source graphics libary, open gl.
but doesnt steam use bit-torrent-like(c) technology, which allows users to p2p the files? so after a critical mass has downloaded the rest can grab it off eachother.
plus with a boxed copy you get the security of having a copy on a real medium, so in the event of data loss you dont have to re-download the entire game.
one could bar the players from proceeding until both reach an area/checkpoint, this could be useful to control when triggered events and ciniematics occur.
my question is this: if one has an agp 4x slot, will there be a noticible preformence increase? I'm using a geforce 4 ti4600 on my agp 4x and it runs doom 3 fine at medium detail and 800x600, but would upgrading to one of these babies really give that much of an increase in preformence?
would it be possible to write proxy rules that are based on browser type? I.E. (no pun intended) if the browser is internet explorer, block from potentially bad pages a b and c, but if anything else, let em go through.
and useing a CF deciece as a hard drive is a b...a...d... idea, after so many writes the media starts to degrade, and if you're using it as a hard drive it wont take all that long.
The gentoo forums will literally save you're life at times. Probably one of the best linux-centric knowladge portals out there. And they're noob friendly.
hah awesome story that acutally just happened to me on my home file/web server.
your sig though, inflamable materials. great album/song and band (slf).
Steve once said that there wouldnt be a video ipod because video is too compliucated and he wanted a simple user experiance, but what if he does the same thing he did with online music, a downloadable music service. there are already others so its feasably, and apple seems to have a strong relationships with ip powerhouses. also, if you look on the tiger preview for the looking glass preview, when steve searches for pixar, it looks like he has movies, not onyl trailers, I'm probably wrong about that I ddint look too carefully.
Seriously though, has anyone acutally tried eitehr lookingglass or mateise? No. So i think we should try to be as open as we can until actually tried it out. As omnipotent as we all think we are, we are still human and shold wait to try it before making a supreme judgement.

I'm sure glad I'm using windows!

interesting how instead of supporting the terribly insecure active x, google chooses to instead distribute it with an installer program.

uhh dont forget a source of power, without that you you'll end up looking like an iDiot.
