Anyone else out there live in an apartment or condo complex that adds "Association Connection Charges?"
Supposedly for the cost to tie into the network, oddly enough I don't get one of these when I live in a home which would cost more to wire as it's an independent unit, and funny how it doesn't cost me money every month of every year to get a new phone line added.
Associations pull this scam constantly, they do the same with the Cable, I got about $5/mo going to these association fees, but we'd never actually add them to our community association fees (which are already the highest in the city).
My same scam of a community is trying to charge me money for parking my cars, I'm working with my neighbors to get a group together to get a lawyer and oust our association as our condo group is a land contract which means I own the land my house sits on and an equal share of all common grounds, which means with a full vote any management can and will be dissolved:)
Associations are insane scams, our group pays a management company $35,000/yr to collect the fees / hire maintenance people, thats just dumb.
Starcraft was nowhere near as good as Dark Reign which came out at the same time.
But like a lot of games it's not quality but advertising that wins, the masses went for starcrap. Kind of like the mustang vs camaro/firebird, mustang = general populous likes... camaro/firebird = faster/better looking/better cars for the money.
American Public doesn't make decisions on facts, just on hype in large.
Hardware just isn't up to snuff with ATI along with the impending doom... Doom 3 that is.
Everyone wants the final specs of Doom 3 first. I know thats what I'm waiting on.
I don't like ATI drivers but they're hardware is always good. Nvidia is the reverse, I've had a few nvidia based cards fail on me in the past but the drivers were always great.
I wouldn't whine about an 80k salary, but I would love to actually get an increase or a raise at some point, over the last 3 years my salary has gone down hill while my cost of living has increased.
I currently have to sell quite a bit of what I have left just to pay taxes cause I took more out in the year to put f'in food on the table and a roof on my head.
3 months every year is what I average as 100% unemployed in this current economy, and fyi I'm in the midwest, I can't even get $60k/yr anymore, $50k/yr is a huge fight, but now it's 45hrs/wk instead of 40hrs as a base and then I have to work overtime past that on occasion, along with being on-call 24/7 just to keep a job.
Yeah things are going to hell here, when income is going down and costs are going up, thats the beginnings of a recession.

More beneficial then all tax cuts combined, hell I'll chip in $50 of my own money today to help mail the little f'ers home, preferably on a plane that gets hit by terrorists, not like there's a billion more of those fuckers where they came from.
The problem with those studies you quote, are that they show a profit for a smaller percent of the population and on a short term basis. It has a negative long term effect.
Globalization makes more money for the top 5% of Americans, and makes significantly less for the other 95%. The rub is in the fact that longer term the 95% you've just made poorer can no longer afford the goods produced by the top 5% and your economy begins to collapse upon itself as theres no work for anyone and it becomes a self fulfilling profecy.
They always say over seas saves us money and makes america money... that is a half truth..
It makes MORE money for the TOP %5 of americans, and makes LESS money for the other 95% of Americans, and in the long run hurts us as the rest of america can't afford it's own products.

I've worked with some ppl from Cincom (shouts to Peter if you're still working there), and they do tons of Small Talk applications.
This stuff is kind of addicting once you get into it, it is very radically different and just a strange concept when thinking about what we're used to.
Squeak is like a living organism of an application. It just sort of evolves as you use it, giving it tons of capabilities and flexibility.
The whole thing is wrapped around really little messages being sent around and everything being just in time / real time.
What about the kid rocks? Aren't you going to molest them and corrupt them... oh wait Kid Rock is already pretty corrupt and messed up... but he tagg'ed pamela lee:)

This economy needs to not be kicked while it's down, we'd be very fortunate for war to spread overseas and destroy significant portions of that side of the world.

Robotics and Automation is the future, I think the internet is going to become a commodity and just an assumed medium just like computers eventually.
Robotics / Automation in everything from food prep to pumping your gas is where the future really is.
We've never built the 1950's eutopia that was assumed to be possible by now.
Competition and capitalism are helping to drive this but at the same time crush it as slow development cycles are good for business.

We use ours as our "bitch box" around the house cause it's got wireless internet so we use it to surf a lot.
I love it for dev work on the road cause it's sexy and has ssh / all my unix stuff I need
But I really need 10.2, running 10.1.5 and it's having issues, it really needs a format and reinstall.
OS 9 was better for everyday usage though, was soo nice and clean and worked soo well... mmm I miss u OS9
