Sure, you can put in a powerfull (loud) set of case fans to deal with the extra heat, but what's the water system there for then?
Most heat is simply being transferred to the radiator. There's no extra heat coming from anywhere except the pump, which is nothing compared to what a cpu, video card or hard drive puts out. You don't seem to understand that the water circulation is only there to move the heat from one place to another, while most of the dissipation is happening at the radiator. That's why you need the fans there, just the same as why you would need fans in any other conventional cooling setup. One of the other advantages of water cooling is that you can use larger fans which actually spin slower, are quieter, and last much longer than a 7200rpm 60mm howler ever would. So even though you still need fans actively removing heat from the system, they're making a whole lot less racket, and they're managing to do a lot more work than a fan bolted onto a heatsink would.
Your whole argument against water cooling seems to be based solely on experience with poorly planned, inneficient water cooled systems, and it doesn't help that you don't seem to understand the basics of thermodynamics. Come back when you have a clue.
In addition to that, Oxfam is looking to raise AUD$5M in aid during the new years celebrations by sending volunteers around with collection buckets and such, and as of ~10PM reached 500K in Sydney alone iirc.
Not sure if similar things are being done elsewhere, but this is a pretty good indicator of how much we're trying to chip in.
Being in Australia, my proximity to the US made me care about the WTC Attack a whole lot less than people over there did, but our media was still all over it. Overnight every news programme here practically became The "9/11 Show", and years later they still continue to contribute a healthy chunk of airtime for 'terror' related stories.
In contrast, how many times did Americans see reports related to the Bali Bombings, if at all?
1.40 might hit ubuntu before debian, so you could probably pull it from their repositories without too much fuss. The xserver-xorg package reportedly works just fine with debian, so I'd assume that something like zsnes shouldn't cause any troubles either.
Don't get me wrong, I've gotten used to vim and love it now, but the undocumented -- BEEPING -- mode can be a real turn off for the first bunch of times you use it.
They have developed an ill fitting sawtoothed double paned glass window that pushes more light further into the room, and less hits the area directly below the window, making offices lighter.
Now I can finally relocate my work area to that hot-air balloon I've had my eye on.
Considering the backstories of the shows are totally incompatible I'm pretty sure that an idea like that would translate very, very poorly to anything but a fanfic.
In regards to Farscape being cut short, IIRC it was only meant to go for five seasons anyway, but with the way the storyline was progressing it seems like an entire fifth season would have been a few episodes too many. PKWars was a good finish to the cliffhanger at the end of season four, and the writers did a magnificent job of cramming everything into those three hours while still managing to end the show on a high note; something that we rarely get a chance to see.
Inevitably there'll be those who present evidence against claims like this, but the fact remains that there's a level of plausibility to it, and that alone should be enough to stop people from putting stock into the validity of the Bible.
Yes, trolling, I know, but when we're talking about stories mentioning people walking across water and a Sea being split right down the middle you have to wonder about the possibilty that they're not true. After all, reading about events like these in any other book you'd be sure you're reading fiction.
I have a bit of a problem with only remembering the bad, so when I get sick of the Window Manager or App that's currently annoying the crap outta me I usually switch back to the worse alternative, forgetting all the reasons as to why I stopped using it in the first place.
One thing that got me a few weeks ago was how inconsistant the UIs of Windows and OS X are when you're using a broad enough range of different Apps. They still look mighty pretty with the right theme, but when it comes to consistancy they're not lightyears in front of GNOME or KDE any more. Both projects have played catch up very well.
As someone who worked in an Electronics Boutique here in Australia I can tell you that those trends aren't the same everwhere. Although we're not a very large market, counting at maybe 10,000 home consoles sold each week, the Gamecube is failing miserably, with most retailers not even putting in effort to advertise it. Hell, it's reminiscent of the final days of the DC.
Figures as of April last year stated the GC has something near a 7% Market-share in Australia, whereas the XBox is closer to 50% and the PS2 filling the rest. I haven't bothered checking the numbers again more recently but I'd imagine that they're still at around the same level.
Squeamish people always tell me that McDonalds uses Pig Fat in their shakes and soft-serve icecreams, so although it may just be a well spread rumor there's a chance you might not be far off the mark.
It's Desktop Environment (or something similar, I'm not even quite sure either). I'm sure that the devs behind KDE would love nothing more than to have a media friendly, zippy desktop, but as Daniel stone mentioned; the state of X is a mess, and since that's what KDE libs are built upon there isn't really much that can be done to speed up past a certain point. With X currently being optimized and maybe even modularised we'll see noticable speed gains in the future.
No way. Kangaroos can beat cleaning products any time, any place.
First U.S. High Level Anti-Piracy Post!
Cleanup procedures for a broken tritium exit sign are as follows:
...
1. Evacuate the area immediately.
Well that's just fine and dandy, but how am I supposed to find out where the exit is?!
...with a stylus falling from the sky?
I saw that very same sticker at the Zoo the other day. I don't know why they even bother, people are gonna do it anyway!
Still, as good as Gentoo is for some people (including myself) you have to admit that it isn't exactly the best example of 'just works'.
You'll need to wait for version 2.0
