Try a copy of National Geographic Kids. It used to be called "National Geographic World", twelve issues a month and no ads. Then they started sending only ten issues a month and didn't tell anybody, nor did they lower the price. Then they "improved" it, added a "select number of advertising pages" (candy and games and tv programs. I don't have cable, so the fact that Disney Channel now has "33% more Naked Mole Rat" on Kim Possible is something I couldn't care less about) and renamed it from "World" to "Kids". Over the next several months, that "select number" continued rising from something like five to half of the magazine, at which point I unsubscribed.
Now I subscribe to regular National Geographic. It still has ads for things I'm not going to buy any time soon (Nissan trucks and Ambian), but at least they are confined to the beginning of the magazine. Unfortunately they are still giving me subscription cards for NG Kids.
Not having a Linux box in front of me right now (and it doesn't seem to be working for me anyway), It appears to use the standard Windows VPN client to vpn.google.com with no username or password and the following settings:

If Apple's free songs are really free, then why do you need a credit card? (I go to download the song and it says "Welcome to iTunes, please enter your Apple ID" then "You have not used iTunes before, please enter your billing information")
There ought to be a better way to implement this. I've been working on a similar system of my own (link hit counting that doesn't get in the way), and my favorite method is as follows:
1. Put the real URL in the HREF. 2. In onclick, go to the wrapper url instead
This has the following benifit: Copy link location works But the following problem: Open in new tab does not count as a hit.
Google's approach has exactly the reverse effect: New tab counts, copy link location is broken, but the link appears to be normal until (any) mouse button goes down on it.
Prehaps some combination of ONMOUSEDOWN and ONSOMETHINGELSE would work perfectly?

Yes, but who is Aquino John Esquire and why is *he* the #1 miserable failure?
Kindle Cloud Reader works with any recent version of Chrome or Firefox.
Here's how: callto:+18884335788 or callto:echo123 (For some reason, Skype refuses to auto-dial a SkypeOut number, even if it's free)
I saw this on Thursday at fanfiction.net. Here's what it looked like: http://nandhp.tripod.com/googlevideoad.html [JPEG compressed to 8kb]
I must be the only person here who has switched to Opera because of Firefox's instability on Windows XP.

I know it's bad to reply to one's own hosts, but an excellent reverse-engineering is available at Wikipedia:Talk:Google Secure Access

There is an option to disable the desktop. http://gtweakui.sourceforge.net/ or gconf-editor can set it for you.
Then you should inspect the source code before you install it. unzip(1) the XPI and the JAR inside the XPI and then use less(1) on the files within.
P.S. I found the URL of the toolbar: http://toolbar.google.com/firefox/
Have you seen my Bookmarklet to fix the URL of the Play Video link so that it can be copied-and-pasted into xine (and then played)?
You need to turn the 3d buildings layer on first. It's in the "Layers" panel.
What are they thinking? I could imagine if they held it at, say, 7 AM before the UPS truck arrives, but at 5PM I'm going to be busy reading.
Although, my UPS carrier has been known to show up with my Amazon orders at 8:30 at night, so...
The Whitehouse folks wanted to show that they had a better lawn than the Capitol Building people?

This post has not yet been commercially released. Slashdot.org will now be sent to jail. We're sorry for the inconvienience.
It works in the carribean too: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=12.474632,-61.44996 6&sll=18.323307,-64.786205&spn=0.130978,0.189857&s spn=0.130978,0.189857&t=k&hl=en
It's only installed in some result pages, when they are very sure that the first result is the right one. e.g. stanford or grand-canyon. It proably uses the same criteria for selection as browse by name: http://www.squarefree.com/2004/09/09/googles-brows e-by-name-in-firefox
Does this remind anybody of the new "improved human interface" file chooser? All the users threw a fit, and they still haven't fixed it yet?
