    Ha, funny to think about this, because I actually work for a Movie Theater. We never really have any problems with that though, and I'm sure we'd handle it pretty good (ass beating with broom sticks) if we ever caught someone doing that. But yes, I am an usher and I do download movies via IRC and P2P. Who's to stop me? Other ushers. Not everyone is corrupt... at least we hope not.

    But take into account that HTML isn't a programming language -- it's a markup. But I guess it's all the same to them, eh? Typing up large bodies of text only to reveal something beautiful. Ha. Either way, as long as she isn't bored with what she's doing, let her use whatever. She can probably express herself better by creating a website other than writing software -- unless of course she wrote a game.

    Teach her C++!!! Just kidding, heh.

    I've never really used PostgreSQL, but I've seen some stuff from it. There is nothing I need to do in PostgreSQL that I can't do with MySQL, so I don't really bother.

    Well, not every game designed is made for the hardcore player of the series/genre. Game developers have to make games for the general average gamer also -- and with new expansions gives users more things to do in EQ... making them run to it from other MMORPGs. But what can you do on another MMORPG that you can't do in EQ? Heh.

    And that's a very good thing, but you say that you spend most of your time in front of a Windows and Linux machine -- have you ever used a Mac enough to get an error? Did you try to Google that? Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot, or I'm not spending enough time searching, but solving Mac problems on Google is a lot harder task than that of Windows and Linux. It just seems that not too many people use Apple computers anymore... and that even the most complicated problems have many different ways to be fixed... and not all of them always work.

    With the purchase of my new eMac, I'm going to go pick this book up -- mainly as a reference manual. Mac troubleshooting interests me.

    I guess it actually depends on what he did under the process of identify theft. I'm sure that if he used some intense social engineering skills to get his hands on valuable source code, he'd land in jail for longer. But you never know... Mitnick didn't get longer than 5 years and he did some pretty serious shit.

    Yeah, well a lot of times in classes the teacher asks that question that he or she thinks no one will answer and I always seem to know what it is -- mainly thanks to video games and movies.

    Despite the obvious of learning from gameplay, knowledge due to gaming really relies on the fact that they make your brain flexible enough as to where you can think "outside the box."

    Yeah, everytime I decide that I'm going to download a new version of it to have (until I can finish creating my BSD box to install it to), a new version comes out. I have three different versions of FreeBSD right now -- I guess I'm going to wait until I can get this box operational before I actually get a version to install.

    The main reason I want this box is to learn FreeBSD -- one operating system that I have never really messed with. I've toyed around with the BSD shell in Mac OS X a pretty good bit, but I've never actually ran FreeBSD... I'm just much more of a Linux guy. I hear FreeBSD can be pretty amazing though.

    I don't see how it would slow down huge, commercial distros... but the smaller, lesser known ones, maybe.

    I don't see a problem with this though, as long as it's free and we are acknowledged for our efforts in the development of the Linux kernel.

    Another question though... does that mean we have to sign that if we just want to make our own personal distro? Even if it is for personal use? Hm, hopefully it's still open-source, ha..

    Mandrake 10 and SuSE 9.1 do not have that problem -- I dualboot SuSE 9.1 on my desktop with Windows XP and the Cisco teacher here at Floyd College dualboots Windows 2000 with Mandrake 10 on his laptop -- I set it up for him.

    I've never even touched Fedora.... I really need to.

    I would have to say... test out various operating systems with Linux LiveCDs. You can find an assortment here.

    Besides that though, if you just want a first clean mount, I would probably recommend MandrakeLinux. My friend, who also is new to Linux, installed it a month ago and runs it as if he still has Windows installed.

    and WarCraft 3 has some amazing graphics. Or did you mean WarCraft 2? Nonetheless, great game.

    I'm an old school gamer... but I also want the video game industry to keep rising. Even though I still play King of Fighters 96 on my Neo Geo, I would still play a new nice looking game. Although it's not ALL about graphics, I don't think that it would benefit the gaming industry to use choppy graphics in new games. After all, it's the medias and new-age gamers that promote the games the most... and what feature do they all seem to crack down on more than anything else? Yep. Graphics. As long as the game plays great, I'll always love it, but someone else who just wants it to look better probably has their pick over me, simply because there are more people like that in this world.

    I'm a very visual person.. and this new look is awesome! Not preferring it over the PC look (or PC over the Mac), I just think that it is very beautiful. More games that are ran on the Mac should have their own Apple Aqua Look and Feel.

    Well, us software designers can also get paid to play games at work.. as long as we do our job though. ;)

    Basically, any hobby that you have and care a lot about can be used as "job skills training" later on, rather that be gaming, programming, hacking, hockey, so on so forth.

    Umm did I just hear that? Get rid of Lucas!? What the hell!? Do you remember who actually MADE Star Wars what it is!? Getting rid of him would be the WORST thing to do. I mean.. I'd compare it to Bill Gates leaving Microsoft, but I know Microsoft can function without him... so I think it'd be better to compare it to John Carmack of idSoftware. Without the big dogs, the companies are nothing at all. After all, for the fanboys out there, the reason the original movies were so good was BECAUSE of Lucas. I actually LOVE the new movies.

    After all, Star Wars is Star Wars.. I don't compare any of the movies, because they are all in the same series.

    And I'm sure if they did keep it as a TeraByte of storage, the max limit per message would be a lot higher than 10MB. Okay, so we'd probably never actually use that TeraByte of storage space for e-mail... but look at all of the junk that I wouldn't have to keep on my harddrive anymore? I could store movies, files, and so much more in my inbox and access it at any time I want.

    Either way, even when the 1GB service comes, I'm still going to do it -- I don't mind splitting the file up.

    Out of my deepest love for Star Wars, and not being a fanboy like the rest of the world seems to be, I'm actually looking forward to this movie. I think that the title actually works. I mean.. come on! Who cares if Episode One is not as good as Episode Four and so on? They are all in the same series... so I don't judge one over the other. Star Wars is Star Wars.. always has been... always will be. Long live George Lucas.. and Han Solo!
