Actually, Google is "obligated" to index Kinderstart. Indexing web sites is what the advertize to do, and only indexing web site which they "approve" (assuming the web site isn't fraudulent itself) could be false advertizing.
Where have you ever seen an advertisement for the Google Search Engine? Was it a magazine ad? Was it a TV Commercial? I have never seen Google advertise it's engine once. Since they don't advertise, they can hardly be doing so falsely, now could they?
And that right there is the problem. Hollywood and book publishers alike know that fans will go in droves to see/read a sequel if the first story was good. Since they know that all the fans of the first will go see/read it regardless, they don't have to try as hard. They settle for crap, and we eat it up like it were gourmet chocolate. Then, when they make another sequel, we know that it's going to be crap, but we pony up the cash anyway. If we want to start seeing quality in the theatres and the bookstores, we have to stop supporting those who are content to rest on their laurels, and instead refuse to consume the tripe they are foisting upon us.
I don't see anything wrong with sharing TV shows that are freely broadcast over the airwaves, however. For most things, however, if you don't own the copyright, it's usually not yours to distribute.
well then, by that logic, then there is nothing wrong with sharing songs, because they are freely broadcast over the airwaves on the FM band.
They don't want you to share tv shows, because for such a creature, the only revenue recieved is through advertising, which is stripped out when you share it. Now, if the ads weren't stripped out, AND there were some way for the companies to charge their advertisers a nickel every time someone watched said file, then they would have absolutely no problem with people sharing content.
As it stands, however, your belief is incorrect.(from a strictly legal perspective)
I would. If I could get a copy of windows that doesn't come preloaded with MSIE and media player tied into the operating system so that I can't remove them and use the program of my own choice, then I might actually be convinced to spend some of my hard earned cash on such a product. as I cannot, that is one of the reasons that I use linux.
That's bullshit. walking alone will not make you lose weight... I recently went back to college after having been in a sedentary job at a call center for 2 years. I didn't ever exercise and spent most of my time listening to people whine on slashdot. Now that I'm back in school, I am walking 2 miles to/from class everyday. I have been doing so since september. it's now almost february, and yet, I am still 230 pounds. I was 230 pounds when I went back to school, gaining me a net loss of 0 pounds. If I want to lose weight, then I have to do more than just walk.
I only played with ITunes briefly, but when I did so, at least the version I was running then, (No idea which one it was) ripped to AAC by default, but you could select other encodings from a menu somewhere. Has this changed?
Redhat has disabled MP3 since RH9, SuSE since I think at least 8.2, and I noticed it was the same on the Mandriva distro I tried about a year and a half ago. Gentoo, on the other hand, will play mp3's as soon as you've emerged whatever media player you use. I don't think it has as much to do with the proprietary codec, so much as fear of some sort of retaliation from RIAA et al. I know the crippled version of xmms that shipped with RH9 displayed some sort of dialog to the effect of "We won't let you play mp3's because of copyright concerns." It seems to be mainly the distros who try to exist as a commercial entity that don't support mp3 out of the box, although, Debian also sees to do the same, as the parent mentioned.
so if I left a hammer lying about on my front porch, and somebody uses that hammer, without my permission, to bash my neighbor's head in, am I responsible for my neighbor's death?
The way TFA reads is that she left her phone here in the states while traveling in israel. Someone here in the states got a hold of the phone and made long distance international calls to Pakistan Libya, syria, et. al. THe calls were made from here. or rather, in canada.
But I can't help but wonder. why small claims court? I don't know the law in Canada, but here in Texas, small claims court can only award up to $5000.
No, they won't ask permission from the terrorists, but I for one will sleep easier at night knowing that they do have to ask SOMEONE[i.e a federal judge] before they can infringe on my Constitutionally Protected right of privacy. The fourth amendment is there for a reason, and if you don't like it, why don't you move to China, where someone will be taking note every time you have a bowel movement. Personal Freedoms are what makes this country great, and I for one don't think that anyone should have to sacrifice those freedoms for a percieved increase in security.
Every one of google's products runs in a browser. That's the way google does business. They create "Web Apps" which pretty much means accessed by browser. They just don't do things any other way. sorry, that's just life.
it didn't like mine,(dlink 520 atheros chipset) but then again, that was because I was using amd64 and madwifi contains 32bit binary code. yet, gentoo managed to work right away after emerging madwifi.
Well, both the 90's CD, as well as the Jazz that Riker listens to will almost definitely have passed into the public domain by the 24th Century.

yeah, because armistice rhymes with solstice, and everybody knows that the charmed ones are most powerful on the day of the solstice. :)
no, what would be really impressive was if he posted on november 11th at 11:11PM. Bonus points if it was in the year '11.
I notice their website says that they offer their files in wmf or unencumbered mp3 format. Is this a step in the right direction?

thanks for the info. nasty evil thing. not at all surprising coming from msft. but at least the guy won.
actually, no I don't. Would you care to enlighten me?
So I can uninstall explorer, and use another file manager and firefox instead?

The Hindenburg wasn't a blimp... it was a dirigible.

New Horizons... you mean that crappy series of star trek books they put out around the time voyager ended?
I stand corrected. I hadn't really heard that about Google Earth. Consider the statement withdrawn.

naw, a fully functional car made out of weed would be much cooler. illegal pretty much everywhere, but cool
it is atheros. I have one and it works pretty well on gentoo after installing madwifi
sisko shaved his head. he didn't want hair. I guess he thought looking more like picard would make him more respected :)
