And what is your maximum upload speed? If it's like 35Kb/s, that's why. If your router can't keep up, limit the number of connections, transmission can probably do that.
2 years is a lonnnng time.
Not only have cpus gotten a lot faster but think of all the changes that have been made in software over the last 2 years, even just in the Linux ata/sata stack.
It may still be that software raid isn't as fast as an expensive hardware setup, however you should at least use results that are current.
I've got a 7x. IP as well and I can't even use the service as I don't have any skype credit, it just keeps asking me to buy it. Even if I do the +1 thing and using either 2.0 or 2.5 clients.
It seems a lot of people with IPs starting in 7 get the exact same problem. Skype should really fix this, it's a pretty large netblock.
Even the highend PPC machines never did too well in WoW against similar PCs, although they updated WoW to a universal binary and it runs A LOT better on the Intel Macs. The iMacs run it without a problem and everything turned up, I suspect the powerbook will be the same way.
Well not really. Apple isn't really emulating PPC on the x86...since they WROTE the operating system that is running on both they have a lot more control over what's running and can do all kinds of cool translations and on the fly stuff for what the program is doing, making it not really emulation. More like how WINE is not really an emulator.
Intel on the other hand doesn't have the advantage of total control over the software.
We love Ubuntu because that's just the cool thing to do right now. I didn't find anything really amazing or cool with it, but of course that doesn't mean anything.
Anyone find this a little odd that after apple switches to intel chips, MS decides to make DX the only real choice for 3d on their new OS? With macs running intel chips that takes out a lot of the problems with porting games, making macs a lot more likely to get current titles, especially if they become more popular. MS forcing DirectX is another problem that will get in the way, causing developers to pick between the mac or pc and of course the pc will end up winning. Writing the engine to use both would again require additional work which will probably not get done and leave mac without games again.
I think people are blowing the whole FireFox thing entirly out of proportion. Sure it is great and all and has a lot of potential but I think articles like this are just too much worrying.
Even though 99.9% of the people will never come close to 100 gig thats going to be pretty cool if a bunch of people do. Even today 100gig is pretty large, even for the current hds out. If you manage to fill that 100 gig up with stuff that cant be compressed it must be pretty cool to know that you're using a good amount of some hd somewhere.
I wonder what my school would say if I showed them the HL/CS map I made of the school...That was pretty fun to play at LAN parties, nothing like shooting up the school in realtime 3d.

I hope this becomes popular and they find some way to get a ton of songs on here. 128k AAC from the iTunes store sucks.
I don't see what's so special about the cell....and $900? Who is going to buy a $900 console..
Yes, it was called the Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS). You turned that on and it had preset levels which the volume could not exceed.

It was obvious right from the beginning that the Pentium M was far better then the p4, I'm glad Intel is actually making this move.
