So here I am 6 months later typing this on Windows XP...

  3. Understandable Complaint on Microsoft Worried OEM 'Craplets' Will Harm Vista · · Score: 1

Look Microsoft is trying to compete with OS X and how it has the same feel no matter what machine your on ( more or less ). The majority of people who get Vista are going to buy it with a PC from an OEM company like Dell. Those are the people who are likely to think Vista is unstable rather then the software that it comes with. Everyones acting like Microsoft doesn't want any software on it that isn't certified. Microsoft just wants the OEMs to be more careful when they put 'crap' on the machines because they are the majority of users who use Vista. People who go out and buy Vista or download it off the internet are going to know if they install something and it makes there computer run like crap that its not Vista's fault.

I meean Dell, HP, Lenova, etc should be required to put more effort into making sure the stuff they put on the machines don't make it unstable. They owe it to there customers and Microsoft.

  6. Re:always pay upfront on Mobile Phones Locked By DMCA · · Score: 1

Well with Sprint the cost of the cancelation fee is no more then the discount you got on the phone. A lot of the time you will get additional savings on top of that as well.

So if you sign a contract and get the discounted phone and you end up staying you save $150+ some other discounts. If you cancel you only pay back the amount they took off the phone. So atleast you have the chance to save the money if you end up staying with the company. Not to mention with all cell phone providers if you don't want to sign a contract right away you most likely will end up signing one at one point or another because if you want to change anything on your plan it requires you to sign/renew your contract.

Whereis if you just pay full price for the phone to not have a contract if you end up staying you don't have the chance to save that $150.

iono just some reasoning I use while at work, Sprint, to convince people to get the 2 year contract.

You are on par about companies targeting poor people to get rich. There are numerous examples of this. Real Estate, Cell Phones, etc. With real estate you can get the higher interest rate and they don't mind it because they are just happy they are able to get a house and you will make a lot more off that. Also with cell phones they are more likely to be late on payments and have late fees. Also they have to pay deposits on activation.

  8. NAZI book prices on Textbooks With EULAs · · Score: 2, Interesting

All this is why me and a friend of mine started up our website ScrewBookPrices.com. It allows students to buy books from other students on campus. Its a WIN WIN alternative. The student selling the book gets more then what the school would buy it back for and the student buying the book gets it for cheaper then the book store would sell it for.

Sadly in todays society its "acceptable" to ream students. People complain about the high book prices but very few actually do anything about it so the cycle continues.

I hope this doesn't just get regarded as a plug.

Most people are unaware of the other mp3 players and base there whole opinion that the ipod is the best on the fact that it is so mainstream, its hip and fashionable, and it is from a company like apple.
