I'm skeptical about this. By developing Open Source Firmware to remove bugs from the player we are sending a messenger to proprietary firmware developers that they can just release a buggy firmware and the open source community will solve all their problems. If the guys making this firmware are in contact with the original developers then it may be alright though.
In Australia we have some very good radio stations like Nova 100 which you can even listen online to.
http://wwww.nova100.com.au
Check it out. The listen online plays the exact same thing thats on the radio. Their station slogan is "No more than 2 ads in a row" so its more than 20% music like your crazy US stations.
Why would a public access point at a public library need an access key? If they had one he could have just gone inside and got it and gone back outside and wound up in the same situation.
He should have replied that since it was a public access point that he was in his rights to use it in a public area (namely outside the library)
"A policeman approached him and asked that he only access the Internet from within the Library" What if the guy wasn't using the Internet but was editing his site and was looking at the preview? (this was not the case but what if)
"In addition to a more ergonomic design, lithium ion battery, tilt wheel (read horizontal scrolling), and battery indicating LEDs, this mouse introduces laser technology"
I'm sure that you can buy Lithium Ion batteries to put into your mouse. Dude RTFA and you'll realise it is the same.
You can play Tux Racer in Windows:

I am a gamer but I am also a programmer and like Linux a lot.
You are missing the point here it is not an alternative operating system emulator that is effected but a CD/DVD drive emulator on which you can mount ISOs. I have a folder with DVD ISO's in it and I can watch these DVDs by simply right clicking the Daemon Tool icon and mounting the ISO on the drive I want. This is probarbly illegal due to stupid laws put in place but it's my DVD and I want to store it on my Hard Drive for fast access. This software doesn't allow me to play my games beacuse I have a CD/DVD Drive Emulator installed on my computer. If I wanted to pirate the game i'd most likely end up downloading an ISO thats pre-cracked to avoid this driver entirely.
There is no solution to CD Piracy.
"the World Health Organization are urging more studies, especially of radio waves from cell phones." Isn't it already a known fact that cell phones cause cancer? Over here (Australia) they are always telling us that.
Yep, I'm running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise edition and whenever I right click explorer crashes. This was caused by a bad shell extension but it didnt tell me this so I created a new user profile and all was good. Now it just crashes when it feels like it, like when i'm in the middle of moving one folder to another.
I'm sure this would conflict with some mailing list senders who have many contacts and decide to send all the emails at once, that always gives a burst in email sending. This would block all the messages from your mailing list.
Maybe you could set one of those up and use all the spam detection software you can find (i.e. Spamcop) i'm sure other people will post the URLs to some spam detection software which you can run on your server. That way you get to reduce the ammount of spam that you have to sort through while searching for legit emails. Most of the spam these days is ovbious spam like Subjects which make no sense and often have lots of spelling errors in the body. Beacuse of this you can detect spam by hand quite easily too.
Dual Layer Media is not mass-produced at the moment so it's to come accross it in the market place and when you do find it then its damn expensive. I saw someone selling Dual Layer Media for $14/disc
These countries don't have money to waste on computers, schools do not need computers, they need more books and other resources to help them, how often do you use a computer in a school? If you develop technology you want to use it to help people less fortunate than yourself. HP have enough money to give these away to the African schools for free.
This is not a dupe post beacuse if you read they are a reseach group from UFPR university in Brazil. This post is about HP giving these computer setups to African schools. Great to see this happening (as I said in my other post)
"If a send request occurs that is less than one segment, Silly Window Syndrome (SWS) can occur. To avoid SWS, the TCP/IP stack will hold the send for 5 seconds, or until there is enough data queued to send a full segment. "
Ah yes I too suffer from Silly Window Syndrome, for some reason Windows shuts itself down with a BSOD when i'm trying to do something.
Windows will -download- the drivers from Windows Update (XP+2k+2k3) if it finds them on there (after checking it's system folders first though)

IE is better beacuse it loads pages faster than Opera and has a better GUI, less clutter, etc.

Gamecube sucks, you only have to play one game to realise this.

Suprisingly enough this server has very phat bandwidth, I still downloaded this file at my connections max speed.

hahahahaha owned, that rules dude!
Now that I read it again HP are charging these schools, shouldn't HP do this for free =/ You'd think they have enough money by now!

Great to see that HP is joining in with building up computers in countries

Thank you for informing me of this, I was not aware of these facts.
