I've been playing a pirated version of CSS while waiting for the retail release of Half-Life 2 and I was playing online no problems. I completely bypassed the authorization and didn't even use Steam.
I don't think you can really comment on install speeds when you are using a Linux box to install a Windows game. It won't run anyway since it is heavily reliant on DirectX 9 Technology unlike Doom 3 which uses OpenGL.
Your computer is below the minimum requirements too.:: Half-Life 2 Requirements

I think it only counts as sharing when you share a complete copy. Most of the time BitTorrent downloads are complete from many different sources at once so you never get a complete copy off any 1 person unless they are the only seed.
I'm sure someone will hack it to run Linux:P
Serves them right!
I assume Linux is a lot better than MCE for Media Centers as it lets you run any format you want not just propietry codecs+formats. (WMA, WMV, etc.)
Microsoft do not seem to support most of the open-source formats like OGG and OGV. I doubt they support MP4 either.

From the first day, I've been given a horrible impression by all modern consoles. PS2, GC, and XBox. My issues is with their controller setups. I absolutely despise the concept of dual joystick and I think the XBox controllers are the worst yet. Many people would surely agree with me that they're oversized and poorly laid out. There are of course third party replacements.
No I don't agree in fact the XBOX controller is the best one i've ever used. Maybe they are oversized wherever you live (Japan?) but over here (Australia) we have big hands. (Not from chasing chickens though -Fable)
If you have an XBOX you can run MAME and the Nintendo emulators on that you have no need for your Duron. Now send me your Duron and i'll have your modchip there within the week.
The ultimately ironic thing is that my friend and I were talking about System Shock 2 today beacuse i've never played it and we are going to play it at my LAN next week.

I was mid-way logged onto Steam when my router crashed causing a connection timeout and Steam didn't display anything on-screen it just upped its CPU Usage to 99% and I had to end task it. Half the time Steam doesn't logon and when it does the Friend Service has to be logged onto upwards of 10 times before it will stay logged on.
No whats truly ironic is that you are paying for an application when there is a free application out that does the job better and doesn't use an ugly skin.
I for one welcome our new evil cyborg dolphin overlords.

You run linux as an XBE (application) which uses a rootfs file on your hard drive to contain it's file system so your XBOX hard drive stays in-tact :)
Yes you can replace the hard drive with a bigger one there are tutorials for this and more at http://www.xbox-scene.com/
