  1. I poop on the press release on Doomsday Clock To Advance · · Score: 1

Thank God, we were all waiting with baited breath to know.
Seriously though, isn't this basically just some stupid press release from a magazine that very few people subscribe to about something they're about to do that is of no real consequence whatsoever?

  2. No personality. on Will the iPod Ever Die? · · Score: 1

The pro-iPod article mentions "Personal Touch" as a plus for the iPod. It's a fine product and all but there is nothing even remotely personal or individual about the ipod. A second-hand t-shirt has more personality.

  3. The response is simple... on Municipal Wi-Fi Battle Moves to Texas · · Score: 0, Flamebait

    The response is simple:
If you're from Texas, call your state legislator and urge them to vote against it.
If you're not from Texas then kindly shut the fuck up.

  4. Orkut is alive? on Hatemongering Becoming A Problem On Orkut · · Score: 2, Funny

Orkut is still around? I mean I guess I still have an account on there, but it's been quite a while since I logged on - mostly becuase the people I knew on orkut were the same I knew from friendster.com who were the same from friendzy.com who were the same from tribe.net...

  7. Schmucks of the world unite on Tsunami Satellite Images · · Score: 1

This is why people hate reading slashdot, because there are some people that try to make everything political. Our response should be a positive one, like how much money can slashdotters raise to help the tsunami victims; not "Why is Bush a prick?","The UN blows", or the like.

    ...what a horizon is
    ...even what an airplane is

in other words, does it really know why it's doing what it's doing.

  10. what is a smart show? on Jon Stewart on CNN's Crossfire · · Score: 1

I don't think that TDS is a smart show exactly, rather I think Jon Stewart is trying to educate us (in his own way) what is (or should be) basic political knowledge - his method is just a little different. I think it is definately one of the most effectively educational shows about politics and the American political system, but that is partly due to the fact that many other news sources are so uninformative.

We want to think The Daily Show is a smart show because we want to think of ourselves as smart for watching it. Why do you think think everyone here is jumping in to brag (in so many words) that they watch it and adore it?

  11. It's sarcasm... on Smart Cars Coming to Canada and U.S. · · Score: 1

Hey, because of Whitney Houston's drug problems, my mom got to sit second-row at the Academy Awards a couple years ago. Whitney and her hubby don't show up, so they pick my mom and some other guy, who are both there as seat fillers, to fill the empty second-row seats for the whole show. I think Moore has fallen prey to that old folly: He takes himself to seriously. Watch his earlier film Roger & Me - to me it combines just the right amount of outrage & irreverence. By presenting the sad facts about poor Flint, Michigan the viewer can come to their own conclusions. Bowling for Columbine comes across to me as more like religious evangelism.
