Any Spanish speaker would recognize the transliteration of that word as 'cristiano'. Therefore, in a very subtle way, you are not a person or a group of people unless you are in fact Christian. My feeling is, as very little percentage of pirate finally bought the app after "trying it", having them downloading the app for free did not help on the sales after. Almost none of those hackers did post on blogs, Twitter, etc so it doesn't help neither.

What might have helped a bit is being listed on appulous, I guess some people are tracking the 'hacker' websites to see what's hot, and what was released recently. What might happen is people buying the app straight without going through the hacker stage. However, as I had 99.3% of hackers on the next days after it was published on appulous, which only 1% bought the app after, I would say it did not impact on my real sales.

the chinese hackers doing this are mostly motivated by ultranationalist impulses. they are self-starting, they are not command and control from the central government. if they discover any informational gems, the desire to report this to the government is also completely voluntary and desirable from an individual nationalistic point of view. if useful enough, such hackers can be brought into the fold and become a genuine command and control tool of the government, but this is at the late stage of things

of course, by completely controlling media, the government is creating a population of robots who aren't thinking critically and are ultranationalist only by default

luckily, tribalism is never stronger than principles in terms of motivations that win over others on the global stage. chinese censorship is creating a generation of cottonheads in its youth, unable to see the wider world for what it is. youth from countries with open and transparent media, and without hermetically sealed censorship of the level china employs, are meanwhile more globalistic and principled in their attitudes, rather than tribal. of course nationalistic, tribal thinking exists in all countries. but only in places like china and iran, who feel the need to control the media, does the nationalism rise to the level of blind passion: these minds simply aren't exposed to other opinions

so china has developed a wonderful machine for keeping china safe and secure from the outside. but as china begins to emerge as a player on the world stage, it is going to have to think on the world stage, not simply react from the point of view a cloistered hermit kingdom that imagines itself walled off from the wider world and its concerns

china will never lead in this world as long as it breeds children who can't think about anything except china. critical thinking only comes from exposure to alternative opinions and points of view. the chinese are raising their children to have no criticla thinking skills, to be blind cottonheaded nationalistic robots

I have a Xbox 360 and those games are like $60 new.
Most games that I can play on both my PC and 360, the 360 looks worse.
And on top of it, I'd have to pay for the Gold live to play online.
Not to mention all the little crap MS wants to nickle and dime you on their live service.

I only have a few 360 games, bought used. I don't pay for live, and even though I have a 3 month pass for Gold, I doubt I will use it.
It's just designed to line MS's pocket, and I think thats the wrong approach to take with consoles and video games.

I don't have a PS3, but I do know their online system is free. Games are about the same price.

Not sure actually why consoles games have to be $60 while PC games aren't. If a game is being developed for all 3 systems, like most of them are, then I guess maybe it's cheaper for the PC as a way of apologizing for the crappy 360 port?

I don't know, but here's some advice to anyone that wants to read this far:

Drop your price. $40 is a magic number. And quit, for the love of (insert your diety here), quit making these stupid behind the charcters shoulder 3rd person view already! While it works with Batman, it doesn't with shooters. Ya, I know, some peeps think you need to use a gamepad to play shooters. And then trying to force it with a off center viewing angle. And do not ever spend more money on advertising then you do on producing the game. oh, and quit making crappy ports. Seriously, spend a little extra time making it special for each system.
