  2. AXIS 2420s on A DVR Security System That Isn't Based on Windows? · · Score: 1
I have been doing this for years. My largest client had one requirement - he's a Mac user. I ended up setting up many AXIS 2420 cameras (including audio and night vision). I wrote custom code to interface with the cameras and created my own front end. The built in web based front-end would have sufficed, but I wanted to put in custom functionality, such as the ability to change the passwords on a few dozen cameras with one swoop, the ability to view 4 or 8 cameras in one screen, etc. I created a 3D map of the multiple premises with cameras and their locations, and the direction they are pointed at for ease of use. Connect them all through a VPN, and everything is golden. Oh yes, I have all the cameras record REMOTELY (onto a Linux box). This way, even if they are damaged (or stolen), the recorded activity is off site.

This is a great field to be in.

  3. not enough units on Halo 3 and the Second Wave of 360 Games · · Score: 3, Insightful
It means that there is not enough units out there for them to rush through and release the game yet. Once there are more systems out there, then they'll release the game, and more people will buy, thus higher sales numbers.

It could also mean that they would release early if the future of the Xbox360 depended on it. Because we all know there are no real hits on the Xbox360 yet, thus noone is purchasing the console.

In my opinion, it looks like Hotmail Beta is a lot like Outlook Web Access, which is pretty cool. As far as compatibility goes, I think this new version of Hotmail will as compatible as Outlook Web Access - use anything but IE on windows, and it defaults to a 'lite' version.

    - get a bedframe with storage. i've seen bedframes that allows you to lift up the mattress for storage underneath, or bedframes with drawers (those are cheasy). i have a queen sized bed with boxes underneath.
    - shelves. shelves for your everything. folders and files, to towels, books, etc.
    - clean and organize! keep everything and everywhere clean and organized. pick up your clutter. learn to put things where they belong.
    - hide stuff in corners. my dinner table sits on a corner with food stuff and a microwave on it, and my servers underneath. it hides them from view.
dont buy stuff. stuff you want to buy - dont. think about it a week later and if you still want to add to your clutter, then buy it.

of course, i agree with everyone else who said to throw out all the old stuff you do not need. you cant clutter the house if you have no clutter.

  15. Originality and Sequelitis on More Products From the Sequel Factory · · Score: 4, Insightful
    "Originality no longer reigns supreme."

This is basically the problem with the gaming industry. Sequels can be innovative and original, and new titles can be boring, and direct rip-off of other titles. The Final Fantasy games I think is a series that tries to be original - with different characters, worlds, 2D -> 3D, storylines, etc, and that series count up to over 11 already.

And then on the other hand, how many Street Fighter/Tekken/Soul Calibur/Virtual Fighter clones do we really need?
