This isn't native swing and double buffered Jpanels...erm...more like sticking a 302 in a Ford Pinto and still calling it a Pinto. Nonetheless, still an impressive port...props-n-hos to the Jake2 crew.
>anyone who writes a program with the intent to do >damage to systems
You'd best think about the drum you're beating here. When ficticiousmegacorp inc. fails to recoup their assests from the next virus, how soon before they start suing the admins involved for not patching the system soon enough/correctly?
I think it's great that this kid exposed a security flaw in a widely used product. How many of you admins would have known about the vulnerability had this worm not been released? Do you think Microsoft knew about it? Why did they not do something about it? Why has Microsoft not done something about all the Internet Explorer problems? Why did that Microsoft employee state last year that windows should not be on the Internet?
These are all questions we have *all* been asking for years now, and nothing has been done about it. Maybe the best way to get these things fixed is by letting these assholes cook-up these worms to illustrate the severity of the issues we have brought to them.
In an effort to stretch IT resources, the place I work at has installed drop-down pedal systems underneath the desks. When the P-60 processors get bogged down loading XP, the pedal system deploys and the employee is able to overclock the processor while getting some excersize as well. They call it the Gilligan system. The company had planned an indoor excersize facility for employees, but found this solution to be much more practical and cost effective. Perhaps this would work for India as well.
Christ, what a crock of shit. We're fed heaping handfuls of horseshit from the very beginning. Elections are all about building the bigger pile of shit that everyone else thinks is chocolate ice cream. As far as I'm concerned, the "democratic" process in this country is a fanciful farce prepetuated by Neilson and the rest of the media. Moore should run his movie every weekend from now until hell freezes over. Thorough contemplation has nothing to do with an election.
There seems to be a large push by the political leaders in this country to get these digital voting machines implemented as quickly and as widely as possible. Nothing ever happens fast in politics unless there is a lot of sex, money, or scandal involved. The fact that several articles have been posted on/. about the fucked integrity of these machines makes me question all the more the intentions of this "political system".
I dunno. I tried Transgaming for a few months, and when I did finally get Yuri's Revenge to run, the performance was unacceptable. I asked others on the forum how it was that they had gotten it to run so well, but never got any answers. Finally ditched the subscription. It seemed like Transgaming was just slowly sucking up my $5/month and making grand claims.
> users are switching to Firefox.
I've personally helped switch over 3 LookOut users to mozilla in the past 3 months. That's up 300% from last year.
One dropped windows completely and is using mandrake. He won't shutup about how it never crashes.
Looking at the page here finds a link using the mms protocol. I'm sure this is a well documented W3C standard and has it's own RFC right next to the WMA file format.
Oh wait, would that be umm.. the parasitic movie and record industries that have been getting rich suing all the 12 year olds and grandmas for the past 2 years? Yes, I believe it would.

Don't do the crime. Microsoft has had a flagrant disregard for the law for many years. It is finally catching up with them in legal battles. Also, if their business ethics were better, they would not have such a problem with the courts.
It is by their own actions they are finally being held accountable.
Is the only thing experiencing growth from investing in the cheap labor of underdeveloped economies.
(ex: true story) I saw an advertisement for a pair of New Balance (tm) running shoes in the newspaper yesterday. $129.00 U.S. How is the cost savings in dirt cheap labor being passed on to the consumer when these shoes are this expensive? Besides that, the last pair of New Balance shoes I had the soles came unglued on.
(ex: another true story) I wanted a big room fan last year, so I went to a home fixup center and found an 18" floor fan with a remote for $20.00 U.S. It was inexpensive and made in China. The following week, I noticed some kind of oil leaking down the stand. About 6 months later, it made a screeching noise, and quit working. So what? Two other fans I have had for four years. They are made in the U.S.A. and still work great. How has the cheap outsourced chinese manufactured fan saved me any money here? By the same token, if ten people bought the same fan, and all 10 threw the fan out, there are now 10 of these fans in the landfill (multiply by some statistically correct number here).
Another question I have is how is the use of toxic materials regulated overseas? I noticed a tag on a new keyboard the other day that cautioned me to wash my hands after handling the cord because it contains lead. So Memorex is getting cheap keyboards made overseas, with toxic manufacturing processes, and I still get to pay the same price for a keyboard that I did five years ago? How is this a more desireable product for me?
I do not believe any benefit of outsourcing is going to be passed on to the consumer, or former employee. I believe outsouring manufacturing and labor is simply a way for the 10 people at the top of the food chain to make an obscene amount of money by selling a product for the same price but getting it produced for 100 times less cost.
Bin Laden is still at large. I guess it is easier to bust people leeching music than to find the fucktard that is out to destroy the worlds economy. Probably more congressional donations in it as well.

Tidwell: "We did."

You know, even if Microsoft ever does get their shit together, their credibility isn't going to be worth a share of SCO stock.
