When this change to the forums goes live, parents will be able to decide whether to allow their child to post on official Blizzard forums that use Real ID through Battle.net Parental Controls.

  3. Old News on Man "Beats" World of Warcraft · · Score: 1

This was news last week (11/27). The link below is the original link.... "There isn't a lot of official news to report this week because of Thanksgiving but hopefully I should have enough things to keep you entertained for a while. Also, 3.3 menu should appear on the site tomorrow, you can stop mailing me about that. Player "beats the game" on Taiwanese Servers There was a few posts about it on the forums during the past week and I'll assume it's worth a front page news. On taiwanese servers, from the guild (TW-Wrathbringer) succesfully completed all achievements in the game and is the first player to reach 986/986 achievements completed on the armory. Technically he's still missing BB King (added with Patch 3.2.2) and his World Events achievements are down to 138/139 because of that, luckily a bug with an old PvP achievement gives him 165/164, that's how he got 986/986. The achievement count obviously doesn't take Feats of Strength into account because it's technically impossible to get all of them. (Well I guess you could race change to compete for the first level 80 undead/tauren/troll/orc/blood elf on the same character but I don't think you'll get all of them)" http://www.mmo-champion.com/news-2/player-gets-all-achievements-shadowed-unit-frames/

Carbon fiber will burn in air around 500-600F. Air has oxygen which attacks the carbon...this is why almost all composites on an airplane undergo TOS (thermal oxidative stability) studies. If the plane has crash landed and is on fire the fumes are from the resin used not the carbon. The FAA requires rigorous fire testing of materials. Usually, flame retardant additives are used on structures that could burn or they use a phenolic resin.

Yes, I think anyone can enjoy the game with any amount of time.

Obviously with less time into the game you won't be able to see the large/hard dungeons but you will be able to explore a bunch of the smaller dungeons, which take 1-3hrs to complete. It is easy to jump into pvp queues and pvp for 30 minutes a day and get decent gear.

So a good portion of business area is covered.

  13. Re:Overcharging Gamers??? on World of Warcraft Sales Figures Soar in Europe · · Score: 3, Insightful

I doubt they are overcharging gamers. The game sells for $50/$80 but that is not what Blizzard gets back. There are a few middle men/businesses in between that get a good portion of that revenue. I would say that the money they made from the buying of the game covers developement costs or close to it. Let's assume they have 500,000 active accounts per month at $15 a month. That is a total of $7.5 million dollars monthly. They have probably around 200 servers. Their bandwidth I would assume would be extremely large including the game and websites. Buying the servers and maintaining the bandwidth is not cheap. Along with the people running the servers, making patches, secretaries, artists, etc...If you think for a moment at how much each person makes it adds up quickly. They also need to invest in their future so they have money at downtimes. Also as new hardware comes out and games advance servers need to be upgraded. I would agree they are making some money but I do not think it is a huge amount. Plus at $15 a month say you play 1 hr a night that is $0.50 an hour. Most people play more then this. It is not like they are ripping you off.

I have played Dark Age of Camelot (DAOC) for 3 years now. The reason is the end game RvR. No other game has been able to do what DAOC has done. I tried other games like SWG and so forth but I always went back to DAOC. So far WoW has got me hooked with leveling and crafting but I am still waiting to see how the end game PvP/RvR is done. If it is done like the rest of the game then I will be playing it for a long time.

There have been a few studies done by NIOSH sponsored by NASA. I have nice presentation of them but it is 100mbs so I can not put it up anywhere. Iwould check out there website because I believe the report is publicly available there. It basically says they are not sure and to take proper precautions. It explains the sizes of particles and what takes them out in the lungs and so forth. I work with carbon nanofibers daily in research and anytime we are hadnling dry fibers we wear respirators to be safe. Once it is in a polymer/resin then we do not have to worry about it. If you think about it everytime you go to the beach there are nano sand particles.

  17. DAOC perspective on Player Disquiet Leads To EverQuest Expansion Delay · · Score: 1

I have played a few of the more prominent MMORPG including Ultima Online, Everquest, SWG and Dark Age of Camelot(DAOC). I have always gone back to DAOC. The problem I had with say SWG is that it was not fun for me. I enjoy the interactions with people and the RvR the most. SWG just did not give me that. I felt like I was just soloing all the time. Mythic(creator of DAOC) constantly gives free updates that are like mini expansions. They put in housing as a free expansion, they put in new areas as a free expansion and currently they are redoing all the RvR(PvP) areas and making boats to fight on and new keeps and weapons. They also put out normal expansions that one has to pay for. The point is the combination of both keeps giving players new things to work on and do. It also makes the players feel like their $12 a month is well spent since they get the changes and additions they want. I know my roommates are in the same boat as me. DAOC gives RvR which is why we love it and keep coming back to it. If you have not tried out DAOC it is worth the shot. Many people enojy it more then the other MMORPGS including FF. thats my 2 cents.
