10 dollars say that if the show generates enough interest (oh, maybe get/.ed or something) you'll be having to face the horror of a real Star Trek prequel in the works sometime soon.

You preachers of doom are missing the point of this legislation. If you can prevent major websites (yes, and porn ones) from tieing up with companies that provide spyware, it may be good enough to protect the average user from installing that shit onto his computer just by browsing the news.
I view this as an attempt to short out the potential of the Zero-day exploit. When everyone is informed of a vulnerability at the same time, it's not long before an exploit of this vulnerability can be engineered out. Hopefully, by restricting access to the information early, they are able to protect the resources of their biggest customers, and judge by the response how this is going to affect the rest of us. Point to note though, as some other poster has stated, this may not be effective if one of the people in the know acts maliciously to produce an exploit before the patch is made available.
I have to agree fully. I'm sick of the entertainment culture being force-fed upon us. Where every movie is, basically, the same thing over and over again. Anime is freedom from all of that, and it's good to see that we're not completely pwned by Hollywood. This having been said, I worry that by licensing their stuff to Americans, these directors may have shot themselves in the foot. Studios will become more demanding, expecting their work to be more for the masses, forgetting that what drew people to watch these shows in the first place was their uniqueness. A sad day indeed, if the directors bow to such pressures. No Sig.

Are you Salman Rushdie, known muslim and religious provocateur(j/k on that, I love his work)? Anyway, the guy fits that profile, and he even looks like your average white guy.
I know the feeling. There's just too much anime out there that my cdrs are all over the place. I think the problem is not with storage alone but with organizing that storage usefully.:/
I don't know about you guys but i think that when you remake a popular 80's series or movie, you need to retain that 80's feel. the 80's music, hairstyle, corniness etc. Star Wars I-II could have been much better done that way, instead of "improving" eps 4-6 the way we all bitch about, and it would be consistent with the star wars universe. Ah... the 80's....
Logging into a system involves 2 issues: identity (who you are) and authentication (how i know you are who you say you are).
Let's be very clear on this, unless you practice incredibly good hygiene, biometrics should never be used as a form of authentication, but should be restricted to usage for identity. Your fingerprints, retinal scans, dna etc, you give them away every time you touch a glass or take a picture or scratch your balls. heh.
It's obvious to me that you're using all the wrong methods to check authenticity. Ordinary users shouldn't be looking at the html content of their emails, they should be educated that the contents of an authentic email require them log into their account (no link provided, if you're a subscriber you should already know how to get there), and them click the "do the necessary job" button.
I don't know about how you guys feel, but imo piracy has the effect of improving the IT industry, increasing IT revenues through legitimate sales. Take a look at it this way. If I did not personally obtain a copy of Photoshop for my own use, how am I going to recommend my company buy a copy to make whatever it is that it wants made? Do I know if Photoshop provides the correct functionality that I need? Am I willing to buy a manual or undergo training to thoroughly research the product? Am I, as a home user, going to fork out a four figure sum to purchase that software that I don't even know about, and is generating me 0 revenue, on my own damn machine? I think the answers speak for themselves.
On the other hand, I wouldn't condone piracy in a business environment. Certainly, if a software improves the ability for a company to turn a profit, then it's only fair that some of the cash flows the way of the developer. Over the past 20 years Singapore has been a hotbed of piracy and IT innovation (sadly no more, the authorities have cracked down hard on the bootleggers). The net result of piracy was to raise the IT proficiency of the average nerd by the age of 10 to that of an office secretary. Not something you'd see if we were required to spend money on every piece of software you install.
Well if you don't trust the built-in firewall, just turn on the IP filter before patching. It's under IP settings->Advanced->Options-> TCP-IP filter Enable only IP port 80 and you're set. Heh or you can do what Scott Riley down at Redmond recommends and use IPSec to specify rules...
He's got a point here. Whereas open-source exposes vulnerabilities that could be exploited, the reality is that it would take far too long for anyone to detect these vulnerabilities, publish them etc etc. And what do we do when you realise it's susceptible to fraud? Recall the president you elected 6 months ago?
Even worse is the fact that even though you show a system is vulnerable is no evidence that someone has exploited it. You'd possibly be invalidating results with no partiicular reason.
Lend me 2 cents, will you...

Is anyone else crying about the state of the world when a guy needs to buy flowers for his virtual blow-up doll?

He has a point there, after all, there's been talk about the seperation of Iraq into 3 separate states along racial lines.
