  6. Databases, illegal copying, keys etc... on Warcraft III Gone Gold · · Score: 1

A lot of people seem to think because Blizzard sues a certain company because of their copyrights and property; they can illegally copy the software.

Their developers did put their work in that game, design, programming, testing, their connectivity, marketing, ... what costs them money as well.

Next to that they might want to keep their keys private; on their servers only. If their server can retrieve the key of the remote user, why can't the other server retrieve (and store?).

    Their keys are their protection...

They also have the full right to sue somebody who breaks the copyright law, use their code or get their keys.

It has of'course two sides, if they get their network to a pay-only version; people who buys the game want to play for free.

They might want to add a service that authenticates with their network to see if the key is valid and if not so the game doesn't work.

After that check it could connect to the network of your choice. A downside for them is that a game CAN be hacked and the check can be overridden by a simple patch.

You got to understand it's their property they want to protect. If they get to a pay-base network it would suck for the users, but if they do not and want you to use their own servers you cannot blame them for keeping their games as safe as possible for "warez-kiddies".

One major difference is also that the Casio costs 200US$ and the T-touch costs 595$. I know you pay for the mechanics though if you want something worth the money the Casio Protrek is sure something you should look out to...

  13. Casio Protrek with compass/barometer/altimeter on Touchscreen Watch · · Score: 1

I am having a Casio Protrek watch (PRG40 to be exact) which has a compass, barometer and altimeter as well. I buy the Casio watches because these are one of the only one surviving my arm on long-term usage :) ... Any other watch dies with me after 3 to 6 months, a Casio survives for over 5 years (I lost my previous one, else I would still be wearing that one) ..

I have seen the T-touch and found the watch less usefull than the Protrek.

The Protrek comes in 2 versions, a Protrek and a Seapathfinder. The Seapathfinder has the mooncycles built in and the Protrek has a altimeter.

    These 2 casio watches have:
    - 100 meters watertight (T-touch 30meter!)
    - 365 degrees compass with digital layer
    - barometer
    - altimeter (except the SeaPath finder)
    - temperature (in Farenheit and Celcius)
    - adjustable ring
    - (auto) Backlight (on the letters, like the palm V)
    - 4 daily alarms
    - stopwatch

they can be bougth with leather, titanium and leather-with-cotton (which I have). Touching the buttons is almost like a touch pad, no heavy touching is needed just tap one of the keys and it switches instantly to compass/barometer/altimeter.

To my opinion this watch has a lot more functions and shows the compass a lot better than the T-touch. (it has 2 layers, one digital layer for normal displaymode (date, time) and another layer for the compass with 365 degrees movement mode. While you are in the compass/baro/altimeter you can still see the time in small; the only major downpoint is that you cannot use the compass while using backlight.

There is one major difference, the watch is completely digital while the T-touch is analog with a small digital screen.

    • html mail with internal viewer, no external links so spammers won't use the imageurl+emailaddress to verify the mail has been opened

    • message templating
    • built in pgp
    • imap, pop, ...
    • very extensive address book
    • built in image viewer, macro support, spellchecker, regex support and much more ...

If the layout could be themeable it would be even nice for endusers who are used to work with outlook express or other features-and-whistles-incorporated-packages.
