Or, if it's a graphic design studio, EVERYONE has a desk full of toys.
Except me, I'm the weird one by not only having no toys, but generally nothing but the essentials in my cube. Monitors, mouse, keyboard, phone, coffee mug, iPod, notepad, and that's it.
Yeah, the UI looks like the same old Logic with some bevels and highlights thrown on.:)
I've read that the underlying code for resolution independence is present in the 10.4 Developer Previews, so Apple could be using it for the screenshots.
Are there any full-size screenshots on the site anywhere? I've looked and can't find anything but tiny images (other than of the plugins.)
From those tiny images it looks like the interface is only marginally updated from 6, which was (IMHO) only marginally updated from 5. It seems like, for the most part, it's the same old Logic 5 with some Photoshop layer effects thrown onto all the UI elements.
I'm going to buy Logic 7 regardless, I'm just curious. The Logic UI never really bothered me that much anyway, once I got used to it.
But, I've just dropped a good chunk of cash on a new G5 & 2 new 19" monitors, so it's gonna be a few weeks before I have the cash for Logic and I'm interested to see more before then!
I would be fskd is GTA VC stopped working on my PC one day
In all likelyhood, one day it will stop working. It probably will be a long time from now, but at some point Windows will most likely be updated to the point where old software stops working.
I haven't had it happed to any of my PC games just yet, but I have a stack of old Mac games that only work with OS 9 whose CD's are headed for the trash bin soon.
At this point in time, I wouldn't expect the devlopers for the Mac port of the original Driver (for example) to go back and update it for OS X after all these years. I just accept it as one of the costs of forward progress.
But, yeah, I might be a little upset if I'd put a lot of time into a MMO game and they just killed it one day (despite the fact that it's inevitable that every MMO will one day shutter it's doors.)
Kudos to the devleopers for sticking with it, even in the face of forthcoming direct competition from LucasArts themselves. I suspect many others would have hung it up once a more or less offical version of their mod was released commercially.
That's assuming that the copyright EVER expires. If Disney has their way copyrights will continue to be lengthened and nothing will ever become public domain again.
As it stands, I doubt anybody reading this right now will still be alive by the time Star Wars enters the public domain. 2097, I think?
Of course, since SA won't be released on the PC until may
Is May an official/semi-official date you've read somewhere, or is that just a guess?
Just curious, I haven't read anything even confirming a PC release (though it's been kinda assumed) let alone a date. So it's great news if that's official!
Still not sure if I'm patient enough to wait for the PC port this time around, I may just finally break down and buy a PS2.:)
the RIAA, MPAA, Nintendo, your mom, and the King of Spain don't give a fuck about you making a copy of a CD to put in your car
Nor do they give a fuck about my legal right to do so. One which the have, on occasion, infringed upon. One which they, I suspect, would happily get permanently revoked if given the choice.
I don't think BT is company anyway but surely they can see that p2p apps do have some legitimate uses ?.
So does marijuana, and that's illegal.
I don't think it matters whether or not there's a legitimate use any more. The MPAA/RIAA/etc. have dug their fingers so deep into the US government, and has influence strong enough over it, that they'll get their way eventually and make criminals out of anyone that uses or develops a P2P app.
All anyone can do at this point is write their relevant elected officials and inform them of the other side of things. I suspect it will make little difference, but at least you can say you tried.
I tend to agree with the grandparent on this that the 54.99 price is a bad move on Activision's part.
And yet, it will still probably be the biggest selling game of the year, hands down (at least on the PC side.) Activision will make a ton of money. Id will make a ton of money.
Is it a blatant money-grub becuase they know people will pay the higher price? Yes.
Will it have a large effect on sales? Probably not.
So, good move for them financially, but perhaps a bad move ethically.
i'd almost be afraid to play if they remade Half Life with modern graphics and sounds
I've read that the original Half-Life, remade with the new Source engine, would be included with Half-Life 2. If it's true, I can't wait to re-play the original with the new engine!
I had never seen G4TV before the merger, but I did watch TechTV, and I have to say there is not a single show from G4 that I can even bear to sit through, let alone actually want to watch. I can see why the network has been struggling, if this is the best they had to offer.
So they cancelled Call For Help & Tech Live, but kept some horrible show where you just watch other people play games for half an hour? Yeah, they're without clue.
I'm down to just watching X-Play And TSS now, but with Patrick Norton now gone from TSS I'm not holding high hopes for that either. But, we'll see who replaces him, maybe there's hope yet.
Well, Luke was a whiny bitch too, so... like father like son?
CLAP CLAP CLAP
Why is it every time I read something great like this, I have no mod points?

Okay, there's one positive point for the supposedly forthcoming Doom movie: It couldn't possibly be as bad as the comic.
Or could it? Various rumour mills were casting The Rock as the lead, so yeah... maybe it could be that bad. :)
The bridge is symbolic not of traveling into space but doing so in the fashion he did. ;)
Or, just that no human being had ever crossed that bridge before and you wanted to prove it could be done, and didn't care about the $2 or the $4.
Thanks for the link!

I saw a Dolphin, but all he said was "So long, and thanks for all the fish."
Whatever that means... *shrug*

Coming Soon: New Atkins-Friendly intersellar gas clouds!
Read Time Stamp Counter. Used to count clock cycles for benchmarking.
Or so Google tells me... ;)
Yeah, I knew that. Just saying that it's pretty much the same game as the mod they did, even if it isn't based off the same engine.
Kudos to the devleopers for sticking with it, even in the face of forthcoming direct competition from LucasArts themselves. I suspect many others would have hung it up once a more or less offical version of their mod was released commercially.

Don't sell Singles short, it's far, far crappier than The Sims.
Or, they'll just use their usual methodology and release a Software Update with some non-descript "bug-fixes" that happens to also break JustePort. :-)
Neither does Junkyard Wars :)

YES! Time Pilot is still one of my favorite games ever, along with Robotron:2084
I also still like to dig out Populous, Lemmings, Marathon & Quake from time to time.
