My step mom works on HST (she's some sort of liason between contractors and NASA) and what my dad told me is that it's a pretty sure thing that there will be a servicing mission! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to verify this with my step mom but I can believe my dad:-)
I've seen people riding around here in Eagle River, AK on "pocket bikes" LinkAnother Link
They look pretty funny because people knees stick way up in the air when they're riding on them. I imagine that these could be a viable alternative to cars in some instances. Does anyone own one or know someone that has one? What's your opinion of them? I can imagine that I could save a lot of gas driving to class, a friends house, etc.
Coders, artists, musicians and enthusiasts from around the world will be turning out to learn, socialize... Shouldn't it be Coders, artists, musicians and enthusiasts from around the world will be turning out to learn to socialize...;-)
When I am around people who use words like "f--" or "s--" a lot I get the feeling that I can't have an intelligent conversation with them. Instead of explaining how they feel or why they feel that way they'll simply say "I feel like s--" Or, in the case of Cheney, they think that lashing out with the f-word will help them feel better and put the other person in their place. Is this really the way that rational human beings should communicate with each other? I know from personal experience that I can communicate much more effectively if I eliminate these words and learn to express myself in a more meaningful way. After all, does it evenmake sense to curse someone with a euphemism for a sex act?
Based on myself, and some others that read here, I suspect a lot of the Slashdot community is the same way. How else could we recall so much about Linux, servers, PC upkeep, and any number of topics that appear here on a regular basis? You must be new here...
Linux will run very well on those old Dell 266's you got at school- particularly if you use something like it comes with some of the liter window managers.
I have an idea. All of you slashdoters will send me money and then I'll send it to various companies such as Miramax and Disney. All donations are tax deductible.
I just disabled them via the hardware manager in windows. Also one other thing, these are A PAIN to get in to an XPC, you have to do a fair amount of nerve wracking bending of the card to get it in!
I bought a refurbed 9600 xt AIW for an XPC that I was building for a girl and I thought I could save her some money so I bought a refurb from Newegg. It doesn't come with anything but the card. No, remote, no FM antenna, no proprietary cable. I ended up spending $40 ($20 for the cable $20 for express shipping) buying the proprietary cable that you have to use to connect the card to a monitor. Even then, the tv part of the card didn't work and had to be disabled so the computer wouldn't crash. So, I hope I can keep someone from making the same mistake I made!
Perhaps you could hide out with a camera there and get some spy pics for slashdot? :-D

Now if only they could just figure out how to feed their people :-(

Wow, could you possibly be more of a jerk about it?
Wow, I couldn't have said it better. Beautiful....

Heaven forbid that people should actually have to talk to each other face to face!
You can bet the RIAA is having kittens right now!
Every time you use open source, God kills a kitten! Think of the kittens,
If these other sites are so good then I'm sure people will go them and stop going to slashdot.

No William Shatner??

As long as Gnome and KDE don't get KMarried I'll be happy.
Let's hope they can get this going in some other African countries too.
Yeah, let's not go there this time.

What does downloading porn have to do with reading a newspaper?
I could do with about 2.
Great, another excuse for some frat jock or homie to beat up a nerd!
