Yes and it doesn't even matter if their argument is valid b/c by using that 4 letter word FedEx got all of the "angry/.ers" to take the poor guys site down for them....
Furthermore, if it is also significantly brighter than Pluto [reasoning for thinking it is much larger than Pluto] how come it has not been noticed before? Was it in an almost perfect orbit at a perfect distance that for years it was not visible and yet it's orbit is just a few miliseconds (units of measure for orbit???) off that of Pluto's and only now is it finally visible to us?
...nor tv, movies, or video games. Hell even school isn't a subsitute. Parenting can only come from one place and that is the child's parents (or legal guardians depending on the case). I agree with you wholeheartedly and it just digusts me that the parents are so detached/lazy/ignorant/whatever that taking time out of their lives to spend time with their kids/taking steps to protect their kids as they see fit (restricting cable/internet/etc) is such a burden that they would rather put that responsiblity on all of us.
"I was too lazy to lock my liquor cabinet and my kid got into it and drank himself to death. It is the alcohol companys' fault for killing my child and they along with all of their supporters should pay."..... see how stupid that sounds?
I don't think the web is making people to gullible as much as their sheer laziness is. My take on the issue is this:
People like the internet. People want to keep using the internet. However, people don't want to be perpetually vigilant about spam, adware, spyware, false information, erroneous information, misleading information, etc. So what do they do? They say to themselves, "Meh, most of it is probably right." And they go under that assumption because it allows them to surf the web at (mental) ease. They put the onus on the authors of the intarweb and while they should have an onus and should provide correct info (especially in regards to things like medicine) people should have a responsiblity as well. I mean, in the real world isn't there some kind of buyer beware type responsiblity on consumers??
I don't understand either. I mean, it only takes about 2 minutes to find a program on the net to strip the tags and then another 1/2 mintues to do it so in 5 minutes you can have the file in same quality without the stupid security tag... really, why are so many companies getting their undies in a bunch about format issues, everyone knows and likes mp3, just go with it already.....
would you prefer "internet explorer impaired" or maybe something to make you feel better like "while you cannot watch the movie you also are not open to 95% of the viruses, worms, spyware, malware, etc out there:)!"
Yes there are - FTFA:
Perhaps the MSN search has simply been coded by developers used to talking to IIS machines and so it just does that job better?
Perhaps the MSN spider is taking advantage of some specific IIS features to provide enhanced indexing?
I love watching the tally every time I goto check my email.
Interestingly enough I have used about 6% of my current available space on gmail and I have NO idea how. This makes me wonder how much space on the server at work my emails must take up with attachements up the wazoo. Moreover, it makes me wonder how I could ever stand the 2mb limit hotmail gave me.
Lastly, this makes me wonder what the use of saving every email is though because eventually even with semi descent search criteria you can end up with a couple hunded emails to sort through. I wonder if at some point as humans we will begin to regulate our email usage despite the improbable stoage limit...
Last time i checked those countries were working towards socialism right? That being said it also needs to be pointed out that
Communism.equals(Socialsm) returns False.
Also, unless a music artist makes work that you then add to thus creating "open source music" how does this have ANYTHING to do with the RIAA? I mean, I know we love to complain about them on here a lot but seriously the RIAA proctecting the rights to music they created that other people don't want to "contribute" to just "listen" to doesn't seem to be in violation of the OSS ideals to me... (but thats just MHO)
I wonder then, will china and india shell out billions in currency to poorer countries and send troops to areas where genocide and other things are happening all the while accepting harsh criticism from every other country in the world?
I'm not really sure why this would scare you so much. There are so many other weapons already existing from guns to knives to bombs to missles to poisons (kinda like nonbots), etc - some large and some very small and hard to detect - that governments and terrorists and anyone else can use to attack people. This is kind of like being scared that linkin park is going to come out with a new cd that sucks terribly when they already have a few out that suck terribly. (IMHO)
...ok seriously though, it sounds like all of the people joinging the fight against this have their own crusade.
Would they be so upset if in the game you would instead be a girl who purposely goes on a date with a sexual offender and then killed them? Or if there was a mission to go into an abortion clinic and take out hte doctors? Or maybe Rick Santorum (FTA) would be happy if instead the game was going around running over people he considers to be "deviant" or wrong in other ways?
This is simply asisnine, maybe if people got fired up about their children in a manner that made them become better, more attentive parents they wouldn't have to worry about morals in games they so heavily rely on the raise thier kids.....JMHO

People (and I am including myself in this) are idiots, we'd give up tons of our rights for a quick little gift.
hehe but seriously, what power/influence does MIT really have? I mean yeah they are obviously a well respected university but it seems to me like it would be more meaningful if this endorsement were to come from a government agency here or maybe some computer/linux provider who might be able to suggest they go with linux and then be able to work with them to implement it
I am far from a css m45t4r but just looking at your two samples the first looks easier to read as someone else looking at your code and in the case you wrote something for a company and then later someone else in that company had to maintain your code I would rather sacrifice brevity for readblity (JMHO)
I work in a company of about 20 and there are 7 women. 1 is our accountant, 1 is the head project manager, 2 dbas and 3 developers. Thats about 1/3 and that seems about normal to me based on my classes back in college. Maybe TFA is bunk and you all have skewed experiences... or maybe its me;)
This is an American website and that sir, is defamation of my American character. As an American I may not be able to get a job now because of what you (and therefore/.) have published on the web! I guess now I'll sue you:P

Well according ot /. 1/3 of all studies are bogus so there's a 33.33333333333333333333333333% chance this stuff is as well...
3 decades of irish terrorism must have been awful to face after 7 centuries of inflicting it on the people of ireland ...

macromedia's stuff won't be so waffely. Also this is great for acrobat b/c now they both sides of the media covered.
According to a recent study I just made up, in the category of every OS measure Linux and Windows got the following (out of 100 possible pts):
... it was a recursive study)
Windows - 101 points (they get an extra for winning this category
Linux - 0 points
IMHO figures/stats/benchmarks (for the most part) are worthless b/c anyone can fine tune tests to get results they want.
