I would agree that civilation and total war are definatley highbrow games as they are beautifully done and require hours and hours of gameplay to master. The Sims are really well done but I think have too much teenie bopper popularity to be considered "highbrow" by most people. Though I don't disagree that it's not a really well done game. Just like sim city before it.
On the console I would submit that Zelda: Ocarina of time is a highbrow game. A great blend of action and puzzle solving that requires most people to play for months before beating. Also some of the best graphics and gameplay of it's era.
But that would require social interaction!!
On a serious note manufactured music is much easier for a lone artist to produce. And thats exactly what most of these artist are. Like MC Chris or MC Lars (mcchris.com and mclars.com). Occasionally they collaborate or bring in other people but for the most part it's just one guy sitting at his computer recording his voice and using loops to produce the background track.
Imagine the average Joe buys and HD player now that doesn't have HDMI. He's not going to notice the difference. He's going to buy HD DVDs and watch them like normal until 2010. When he goes and buys yet another HD-DVD from Wal-Mart, pops it in his player and it either a doesn't work or b looks like crap. He's not going to know what the problem is so he's going to return it for another one which will also not work.
Now imagine this happening at all Rental Stores and Retail stores. They are going to lose a LOT of oney just replacing disks with DRM on it. Then once they find out how they've been screwed we may finally have our mass public outcry against DRM.
I had that too back in the day. It was great because you could form groups with your friends and send them music you liked or just join other groups that had similar tastes, i.e. the indie rock group, the gangster rap group etc. and people could upload artist you never would have heard about otherwise.
It was a joke meant to make a point.
That point was that basic research may not yeild any major breakthroughs right away. But when you combine them with other research you can produce usefull products
Basically he's trying drum up support for an increase in baisc physical science research funding.
Can't tell from the pic, Could be a three headed card, two headed card and a single head card, three single head cards, etc etc etc. With win XP it's very easy to set up multiple monitors.
family friendly "Bible-belt" image
What you describe may not be "family friendly" however no one has made a fuss about it. Wal - MArt wants to make money and their image is key to that. If people start making a fuss about the uncensored videos then they will pull them, at least for a while.
The current focus on violent video games and the fact that parents are usually the ones who buy them lead to the scrutiny that they are under. With videos most young children aren't interested in Devils Rejects but they are obsessed with Halo and it's ilk. And if a kid were to buy The girl next door more than likely he would watch it when his parents arent around. But if he buys DOOM he's going to spend hours playing it and probably not care too much if his parents see him.
If my 12 year old brother had an iPod I would definatley use this on his. I wish his cd player had one. He doesn't understand so constantly turns it WAAAYYY up. Loud enough that I can hear everything he is listening too perfectly. Don't get me wrong I'm 21 so I like loud music however I almost never turn my ipod up over halfway when I'm listening to the headphones.
Facebook is already entrenched on nearly EVERY college campus in the United States. The first thing freshmen are told by upper classmen is to get on facebook. You can't buy that kind of advertising.
Sure you could create a competitor but most likely it will be brushed aside as a facebook clone. There are a few facebook and myspace competitors out there but most people have the attitude of I already have myspace and facebook why do I need another one. In order to steal facebook's users you have to have some killer feature not yet covered by myspace or facebook.
Irfanview is good for batch conversions, I used it all last summer to resize and greyscale hundreds of photographseach week. At 1.24mb for the whole program folder, and the ability to read almost any type of image file and use photoshop filters I haven't found anything better for quick edits.
Possibly. But if he used it as a personal laptop it might have credit card info from online purchases, porn in the internet history, or some music he ripped off a cd to listen to while he was working or traveling. None of that is illegal but all of it is stuff you wouldnt want an employer / ex employer to find.
Usually around the holidays though. The system maintains a constant number of people with mod points when a lot of those people don't use them for a while we hit a dry spell. In a day or two when their mod points expire and the points are given to other people we will go back to normal. It's just something you have to deal with until the system corrects it self.
Second life is a free MMO in which the players create and trade content for in game currentcy which is called Linden dollars. Yoou can also buy and sell the in world currency for U.S. dollars.
I got on and played around with it for about 2 hours last night. While it's an interesting concept and neat to explore and talk to people. I havent really found anything yet that would want to make me place a huge time investment into it. I'll probably try it out a bit more and see if I find anything look me up if you get on my name is Darthmalt Demar.
How do you think we got to space to begin with. The first astronauts were ALL military test pilots. And the military was involved in an advisroy role to help NASA get off the ground (pun not intended).
While people dismiss starwars and missile shield as pure pork I think they are worth pursuing. Eventually we will get to the point where they will work.
And everyoune seems to overlook the fact that the Star Wars plan was a success. It was a success in that along with the other parts of the arms race it bankrupted the Soviet Union. I remember hearing somewhere that the U.S. leaked "secret" documents with falsified test information to the Soviets to make them think that Star Wars was working. Forcing the Soviet Union to spend money they didn't have on circumventing a defense that didn't exist.
It's whether a business can be based off the names and identities of the players.
U.S. weekly, people magazine and all other tabloids make a big buisness out of it. The players are considered celebrities who are in the public eye. Therefore their picture can be used without their explicit permission.
Been there done that. Course for papers where you are having to write just for the sake of writing and not to necesarilly learn the subject i.e. english class, Wikipedia is great because at the bottom of the page it gives you lots of links you can cite after a quick glance without having to actually read the whole website.
Oh no, a monster! Oh no, a monster!
Oh no, oh no, oh no a giant monster
Monster! Monster!
Oh no, a giant monster!
Shut the window, bolt the door!
Don't wanna see that monster no more!
Monster in my pants by the B-52s
Thankyou! I hate it when websites do that. If I want to view in FF instead of ie let me. If it doesn't work i'll open an ie tab. My school website even had the gall to tell me my browser (FF 1.5) wouldn't work but that ie, opera, and MOZILLA would. Now does that seem right to you?
They dont need it but they do. I know they can speak English, Latin, and German. Latin and english are obvious and German because I believe they are descended from german / Dutch immigrants.
The Amish know all about electricity, cars, etc. They don't use them because they feel it would take them away from their family. They place more emphasis on interpersonal relationships and communication than others. Heck they speak at least 3 languages by the time they are out of school. Those going through the "wild phase" when they are 16? Are even allowed to have a car. After that age the kid has to decide for himself whether to adopt the lifestyle of his parents or go out into the world and fend for himself.
Wow Troll? I daresay someone didn't get the joke.
