I bike to work in Hot Hot Arizona. I wear athletic shorts and shirt on the bike and keep my work clothes in a bag in my pannier. When I get to work I go straight to the bathroom and change.
Not only does biking to work help you to stay in shape, it can increase your productivity by getting your blood flowing in the morning. And during the bike home from work I peddle out all of my work frustrations so I can arrive home with a clear and peaceful head.
I'm a powerseller. When the change took place eBay dropped my gallery images on about 150 of my auctions. Since I use their Selling Manager Pro to continously relist auctions they would have kept getting relisted without the gallery image until I did something. Funny that one of the billing changes was that they were no longer charging for gallery images.
I contacted them and was told this was a bug in their system and I had to fix the listings myself. They agreed to refund my listing fees for the affected auctions. I took a $1500 loss in sales from this and was up until 4:30 am fixing the gallery images. I have not yet received the refund on listing fees.
If it weren't for eBay people might come to my website to buy my items. But the first place many people think to go to purchase things on the internet is eBay. So for now I must continue to deal with them:(
You're right about pissing off their Sellers. I'm a pissed off PowerSeller myself. They've jacked the fees so high it's hard to make a profit. I only sell things on ebay because people won't buy things from my website because they go to eBay first thinking they'll get a good deal. I'm waiting for the day that someone comes up with a free open marketplace, an open standard for online commerce that anyone can jack into. No fees, no restrictions, no BS.
I like the idea. It's not like anyone can track you. If you can't trust your friends then you've got bigger issues.
I would use it. I travel around a lot and have friends in many different cities and states. It would be great if I was traveling and some old friend called me up because they saw I was in town.
It's a very interesting battle in ethics. Society decides what is right and wrong and then laws are set in place by that society to make sure everyone follows the consensus. Can you run around naked in public? In some societies, no problem. In others, that would be a terrible thing to do.
Most kids today are growing up thinking that music, movies, games, etc should be free to all. The RIAA has to fight back against this idea because it breaks the model used to create these things. I think reversing the trend of change in kids' ethical values is the smartest thing the RIAA has ever done in this battle. However, it makes me feel very uncomfortable that a large commercial organization is trying to change the ethics of the nation in order to protect profits. I think it would be much wiser for them to work on changing the model that music and movies are created under to adapt to changing ethics of society. After all, is the free exchange of art in the form of music and movies really a bad thing for society? The freer the art, the freer the society imho.
I don't understand the point of RFID implants. We come born with plenty of unique identifiers. Why do we need to implant more? Why can't we just unlock a door or bring up our medical records with our finger prints???
Though, I wouldn't be any keener on giving out my finger prints than I would getting something implanted in me. At least I could always go back and remove the implant.
The problem goes all the way back to cassette tape days. People bought cassettes because they were well worth the money. Just about everyone had a dual cassette deck with high speed dubbing, but we still went out and bought an original copy most of the time.
Then came CDs. These cost a considerable bit more, but so did the CD players. If you could afford a CD player, the high price of CDs probably didn't phase you much. Not to mention, CDs were cool, well worth the extra money.
Then over time the newness of CDs started to wear off. CD player prices started dropping and everyone began to buy them. The problem is, while the CD player prices were dropping, the CDs started getting more and more expensive. An album that was worth the "cassette price" to someone isn't now worth the "CD price". But CDs have given birth to a higher expectation of sounds quality in our music recordings. There's no way we're going to go back to cassettes. So we download.
So why are prices of CDs so high anyway? The artists barely get any of the profit. Most of it goes to record companies. And why do we still need record companies anyway? There are no more records. Music doesn't even need to be saved onto physical media anymore. It can be transferred over the internet to an iPod, notebook computer, or now even your cell phone for heavens sake. Yes, record companies help promote bands, but the internet is getting better at that everyday too. Just look at MySpace.
The record industry has been living the rock star life too long and has lost touch with reality.
What would promote violence and metal instability more in a child: Allowing them to play a video game where they shoot some pretend monsters or handing them a rifle and teaching then to shoot deer or other animals?
I'd like to see the results of that study.
You must have never worked in tech support. People are stupid. To reiterate, people are stupid.

I too am excited by this. However, my excitement is countered by the hike in final value fees for store items.
It's about time eBay fixed their support. I just hope they speak english.
/. on TV use to be "The Screen Savers". If you missed a day of/. you could at least catch up on the highlights by watching the show. However, anymore it seems like the majority of the show is just being used for shameless product plugs. Also, they have replaced the old geeky hosts with new goofy hosts and thus the over all IQ of the show continues to plummet.
TechTV use to be my favorite channel. I felt like I was actually learning about things that mattered. It was like the Discovery Channel of the tech world. Sadly I rarely watch it anymore because this no longer seems to be the case. G4 has killed a great thing. And for what? I don't know...
No, I think he/she meant parachute. Parachutes have come a long way in recent years. Modern rectangular airfoil canopies are far more controllable than the old round ones.
One note about Go Daddy. I checked the availability of a domain name on Go Daddy. It was available. Then a couple months later I went to register it and it had been bought by a squatter. This has happened to me not once, but twice. Is Go Daddy selling their whois lookups to squatters?
I really don't see any type of implant as being used in the future. Biometrics is comming along too well for that. The school could have just as easily used finger print scanners.
That is the BEST NEWS EVER! How come he didn't tell us about this before?
Because if people knew this a couple weeks ago it could have costed Bush the election.
The editor at Yahoo! should stay away from this test.
And if you don't know the difference between a slash and a back slash then you shouldn't be posting on \.
I just tried the latest Firefox 1.0PR and I'll conferm, the problem is still there. If you turn off JavaScript and Java the problem goes away. However, CitiBank's site (used in the example) won't work without JavaScript. Bad CitiBank, no cookie for you!
I'm sure it is only a matter of time before this trick is added to phishing ploys.
Dual monitors boosts my productivity too. I have a dual setup at work and at home. There are two things that it helps me with. I'm often VNC'ing to other computers. I can put the VNC session on one monitor and work on my local PC on the other. I also write a lot of complex database queries. I browse thru the database structure and data on one screen and write the query on the other.
I used my PayPal debit card at a gas station this weekend to buy about $15 in gas. It is showing up on my PayPal account as about $50. I wonder if this is related to their problem. The charge is only pending. Hopefully it will be corrected when it batches. Anyone else have a problem like this?

I dissagree. Making it big is 100% luck. However, the harder you try to higher your chances of getting lucky are.
There's a good list of them on the OpenCourseWare Consortium site here: http://www.ocwconsortium.org/use/index.html

Nice. I'm been looking for a way to filter my postal mail thru Spam Assassin.

Why stop at Google? I'm going to sue the Internet itself!

Why anyone would want to get out of a perfectly-functioning airplane is beyond me! The door was open.

Why couldn't he take the car out of gear? Can this car not be shifted into neutral??? This story sounds really fishy.
