No. In fact, part of the proof of the incompleteness theorem involved the fact that it is #trivial# to check a proof, as all you have to do is to work through each line of the proof and confirm that it logically follows by the given axioms. Of course, it may not be so easy to actually state everything properly as axioms and may inflate what seems like a short mathematical proof a lot, but it's what is needed.
But isn't life expectancy determined by when people die? So scaling down cancer deaths amongst older people, for example, is only hiding the problem, and making cancer a natural inevitable death...
I agree to an extend, by the time you're 90, many things will kill you, but do it too much and you just end up with the random events like car accidents.
good review, but it's good that someone else has realised that the squad command in the Anticitizen One (and some other) bits were rather similar to Freedom Fighters (though only for a small section, whereas freedom fighters was for the entire game). So few people seem to have played that game... IO needs to get better PR;D
If this is the case, I am interested as to what multiplayer code they will provide in the SDK. They will have to provide a basic DM system for people to build on, or will they just give the counter-strike code?
If you cannot do that sort of stuff on a modern computer (which you can, to an extent), what's the point in learning about it? Is it just for people who want to learn ASM, with the prospect of being able to use it in embedded devices or something?
These days alot of the graphical things are handled by the GPU anyway, meaning much of what you learn is rather useless in terms of modern game programming, plus any of your creations have a rather limited distribution market.
Though it is rather cool if you DO want to make things in ASM larger than your normal bits of inlined stuff, I guess.
Trade you an invite for an invite. Seriously, how many gmail invites are there floating around these days? I mean, I even got one;p

I just got an invite from my friend. So of course the first thing I do it check for all the mathematical constants (duh). Managed to get two that weren't taken;)
Oh right, actually use gmail as an email service? Maybe, if I want to get the chicks at math gatherings. *cough*. It'll come in useful for some things, like forum signups, I guess... but I already have enough real email addresses.
If they could turn the world to grey goo, bacteria would have already? Well, I suppose it's multicoloured goo really. But wouldn't anything that can reproduce uncontrollably be just as affecte by the pressures of the environment as any other living organism?
Besides, will dial up modems still work despite lossy compression? Is this a way to force people over to dsl/cable? It may be more than just old grannies with archaic phones.
My cousin's new husband is currently wanted by the Zimbabwe government for being involved with the student unions there. He's currently just completing a law degree in south africa, and Mugabe and his merry lot only really pose a threat to him if he tries to return to Zimbabwe, as he discovered when he tried to visit his family there and only escape with a few minutes as some government thug payed one of his regular visits to relatives. He's even met Mugabe's nephew, or similar, not a very nice chap apparently.
On the actual topic, though, I'm presuming this will apply to ISPs inside zimbabwe, and if so, are they going to block ISPs in South afica or other nearby countries?
That's a mighty big screen, should be good for playing games/dvds/whatever, though I wonder how much it'll jack up the cost by? If it's too expensive, I doubt it'll appeal to the normal GBA-type kid market (or their parents, to be accurate)...
Jobs is already in (http://www.computerhalloffame.org/) as is Wozniak (http://www.computerhalloffame.org/2000.html), so I guess that's why they aren't being included again.
As RMS' RFID card is blocked from the security system after he was found eating cheetos under a cluster, the entire MIT technical staff breathes a collective sigh of relief as the nightmare of getting all that beard fluff out of keyboards ends.

Many people in the UK certainly do. I believe it's the main IM program here.
Also, I agree with the general idea of preventing these ailments early, rather than treating them late.

But the second is strictly defined in SI. You can't go round changing the length of the second :P
"...using cellular automata as a means of explaining higher order behavior (like Wolfram in A New Kind of Science)."
Well, not quite sure if it can explain as high order behavior as Wolfram yet...

c:\rover\code\main.cpp(3) : error C2106: '=' : left operand must be l-value
Not quite bug free yet.

It's rather odd.

That photoshopping of the front page image gives it right away though (isn't that banner replicated several times on the right?)

Some would argue counter-strike :)
It's true, I can never find the download links on those commercial sites, damn near impossible. Usually buried under around 50 layers.
Well, it was the last time I checked. But yeah.

Is evolution in violation of their patents?
Surely what a FBI agent can request would be defined in the PATRIOT act itself, and the ACLU would be free to describe the content of the act itself?
Or am I expecting too much of the US government...

Are you actually able to stand back up after surviving being knocked over by the bear? It seems a bit bulky...

Everyone else?
