I thought this was a logical sounding post until you said this:
Dreamcast = Nice hardware but only like 1 good game and the worlds worst controller design ever.
Only 1 good game? Have you even seen their catalog of games? Unless you only liked quirky dating sims I find it hard to believe that you couldn't find a handful of games you liked.
I purchased more games for my Dreamcast than SNES, PS, PS2, XBOX, and GC games, combined!
What a great system. RIP Dreamcast, we hardly knew thee.
Since the battery is removable, it is conceivable that sony will release one from their 'stamina' line, like they do with the other consumer electronics they put out.
The next few months are going to be very interesting. Competition is a good thing.
In Japan when the next Pokemon movie comes out the rumor is that you'll be able to 'download' a special Pokemon if you bring your DS.

Taking the stage first, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata introduced some of the fundamental capabilities of the DS, including the ability to share and download games. Using the system's wireless connection, players can download game demos from wireless store kiosks or share games for multiplayer using a single card. As mentioned yesterday, Nintendo also plans to use this feature with its next Pokemon movie, beaming data to the handhelds of theater-goers.
The Nitro Online team have been on the forums lately claiming they would release 'something big' within the next few days... their time ran out yesterday.
I'm not saying that the Nitro Online team can't/won't come out with anything it But my money would be on Team X Link releasing something first as they have actually produced results with other consoles and handhelds.
You haven't seen the PSP screen in person have you? The size and the colors and resolution it can display are very impressive for a handheld.
specs:
DS:
Top Screen: A backlit, 3-inch, semitransparent reflective TFT color LCD with 256 x 192 pixel resolution and.24 mm dot pitch, capable of displaying 260,000 colors
Touch Screen: Same specs as top screen, but with a transparent analog touch screen
PSP:
PSP features a 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD that displays full color (16.77 million colors) on a 480 x 272 pixel high-resolution screen.
I'm pretty pro-Nintento but I'm not sure what this counter from Nintendo is supposed to mean, are they admitting that they lacked the vision to include playback in the first place? or is this just another quirky peripheral that they always come out with on their handhelds?
Luckily it was when Brooke Burke was being presented the prize for Best Human Female Performance(?)
wow.::drool:: (At that point in time I was inclined to believe that this was the Best.Awards.Show.Ever) , however as soon as she walked off stage I changed the channel.
My DS doesn't have any dead pixels (knock on wood) but if they somehow manifest, I'll be sure to not send it off to NOA until after Christmas:) I can't imagine not playing the DS for a few weeks. It's that much fun..
Has anyone had any experiences trying to return it the store where it was purchased? I have the feeling their return policies vary from store to store, and possibly who is working.
In the past, most other systems are sold at a loss when they first debut. The manufacturer makes most of its money off of the games and peripherals that it sells during this period.
Of course, when manufacturing costs drop then profits will increase also.
I believe the official answer to this is because Lucas wanted to represent the Jedi Spirit as they where when they died. Since Christiansen was young when he went over to the Dark Side the younger version was put in. That's why Obi Wan isn't represented by Ewan McGregor.
The site is very slim on any kind of information. Are all the games related in anyway? I know they are all an offshoot of Final Fantasy VII, but in what way? Oh well, hopefully a more meaty article will come along.
Not sure if the naming of all the titles have any hidden meaning or significance either: Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus
you can always play the GBA Metroid games if you want the same gameplay experience... if you want to take part in a fantastic series evolving then you can join the rest of us with the newer games.
To utilize the wireless communication capability of the DS, Nintendo plans to offer a new service enabling users to download extra data such as new characters from the new Pokemon movie, to be released next summer, Iwata said.
"You just need to bring the DS and one of the Pokemon software for Game Boy Advance and you'll be downloading some unique Pokemon data while you watch the movie."
Super Mario 64 DS, Spider-Man 2 highlight a launch lineup that will consist of 10 to 12 titles. UPDATE: Japanese launch title details, Final Fantasy III confirmed.
SEATTLE--In the wee hours before it takes the wraps off of its soon-to-be-released DS portable gaming system, Nintendo released new details on the upcoming platform's software lineup at launch--and beyond. As noted previously, the system is slated to ship November 21 at an SRP of $149.99. However, since Nintendo's release of those details several weeks ago, there has been little word on the software lineup for the fledgling device. Now, new details have finally emerged that help paint a broader picture of the software available for the system, and some of the system's unique features.
The first-party offerings for the system's launch will include Super Mario 64 DS, a translation of the Nintendo 64 classic; a playable demo of the upcoming Metroid game, Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt; and PictoChat, which will be built into the DS and will let users exchange text messages or hand-drawn pictures and send them wirelessly to up to 15 other nearby Nintendo DS users. Looking further ahead, there will be a number of first-party DS-exclusive games hitting the system, including a multiplayer-enabled Mario Kart game, the full version of Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, WarioWare Inc. DS, Animal Crossing DS, Yoshi's Touch & Go, Advance Wars DS, and a what is listed as a new Super Mario Bros. game. Nintendo-published games can be expected to retail for as low as $29.99.
The third-party support for the system includes key franchises and original games from several major publishers. Electronic Arts will bring Madden NFL 2005, Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf, and Urbz: Sims in the City during what is described as the hardware "launch window." Following that initial batch, EA is also planning on delivering GoldenEye: Rogue Agent and Need for Speed Underground to the DS.
Activision will have Spider-Man 2 at launch and follow up with another unnamed title that is described as "major."
THQ will offer Ping Pals at launch and follow up with other games to be announced later.
Sega will offer Feel the Magic: XY/XX at launch and follow up with Puyo Pop Fever.
Further out from launch, Nintendo revealed that Ubisoft will bring Rayman DS, Asphalt Urban GT, and Crush; Namco's games will include Ridge Racer DS and Mr. DRILLER: Drill Spirits; Capcom will present an entry in the Viewtiful Joe franchise; Hudson Soft will bring Bomberman to the platform; Konami's Frogger will make an appearance; and Square Enix will offer up a Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles title.
UPDATE: During today's press conference in Tokyo, Nintendo also revealed details about the system's Japanese launch on December 2. The company announced that 12 titles will be available for launch: five from Nintendo and seven from third parties. The first-party titles will include: Super Mario 64 DS, Pokémon Dash, Big Concert! Band Brothers, Touch! Made in Wario, and Intuitive Stroke. Of the third party titles, five are known: the recently-announced Zoo Keeper (Success) and Mahjongg Tournament (Koei) will join Sega's Kimishine (also known as Feel the Magic), Spike's Tendo Dokuta, and EA's Urbz.
Also announced at the Nintendo press conference today was that Square Enix will be bringing a remake of Final Fantasy III to the handheld. The only Final Fantasy title to never be remade and to never make it out of Japan, FFIII is considered to be one of the most intricate role-playing games ever designed for the Famicom. It was originally scheduled to be remade on the Wonderswan portable years ago, but the project was cancelled when Square stopped supporting the system. A North American release for Final Fantasy III DS was not confirmed.
"DS provides a roadmap to the future of videogames," says Reggie Fils-
Any Mario practically guaruntees a healthy launch, and the addition of the Metroid demo sounds like a very good idea.
I skimmed the article and it seems like the Pokemon game is for launch in Japan only, it also seems like it's possibly a kart game (Pokemon Dash?) as opposed the popular RPGs that we've been seeing a lot of.
If the pokemon game was a launch game over in America I can't imagine what kind of hysteria that would create, especially since the system is being released around Black Friday.
I think the submitter was reffering to the fact that the PSP is going to miss it's original launch date of December 2004 in Japan. Which is very possible.
The launch date for the American market is also in question, the year for the luanch should still be 2005 however, so you are correct. Launching a system with no blockbuster titles would be a very big mistake, look at the launch the xbox in America compared to the one in Japan. I believe the more successful launch over here was due to Halo and nothing else, the Japanese launch had nothing (or atleast, nothing they cared about).
Actually, Sonys announcement was at CES yesterday, around 4pm EST. Of course, they didn't really announce any new information, ie: price.
uh oh, you're '275 pound female coworker' has mod points today.

wow.
Does anyone know if the covers for the screens and buttons in the following pictures (1 2 3 4) need to be put on manually?
ie: To protect the screen and buttons do I need to carry those items along all the time?
I haven't found any information on them yet.

some general info here and here
Is constantine good enough?
That would be because Mr Driller is not available yet.

Not sure which is worse, the fact that I find your statement plausible.. or the fact that I know who Aria is.

I believe that he has done that and has also encouraged his listeners to do the same.
nothing came from it though, meaning the FCC took no action.
It's now a top loader, outputs DVDs progressively and has the network adaptor built in.

Wow, that's pretty damn cool.
The first two people from the exhibit fit the sterotypical profile that I had in my head but the girl in the 3rd one looked kind of cute.
