    A text file with your usernames and passwords slightly obsufucated may work depending on the sort of person you expect to find your thumbdrive.

    You can run Openoffice on a thumb drive and save your list of passwords in a encrypted document if you need added security.

    Where the hell do you buy floppy drives for 50? Floppys are about $8 for a generic to $12 if you go for a name brand like Teac.

    That's what the Apple Store charges if you want one in your PowerMac.

    It's a descriptive term and is useful in this discussion regardless of whether the entity being denoted is real, imaginary, or a legal fiction.

    The problem he was addressing was that referring to "intellectual property" is too vague for this discussion. It is like a chemist referring to "stuff".

    I was refering to "IP Theft", which restricts it to only the IP that is claimed (regardless of whether or not the claims are legally and/or morally valid) to be owned by some entity.

    Yes, it was rather vague, but it was still descriptive. Think of a chemist refering to "acidic stuff".

    IP = Intellectual Property

    And yes, while there is a tradeoff between anonymity and speed a reasonable level of both should be possible. A simple to use interface can be created independantly of the other two factors.

    Eh, trackerless P2P won't aid IP theft much. Copyright owners can still track down the folks sharing stuff and shut them down.

    The thing that would really blow the lid off would be an anonymous, fast, and simple to use P2P system.

    I second that (except maybe the LUG, not all Linux users are wireheads too).

    I have never used a droud, but I do know my way around a soldering iron.

    Yeah, the average LUG attendee is less likely than a Ham or a robot builder to be able to help but it's better odds than just asking folks at random.

    That was my thought as well, but then I realized that they're going to need a LOT of diesel just to keep the lights on.

    With modern generator sets diesel can be an economical way to generate electricity. There's at least one company in the Honduras running diesel gensets to sell power back to the grid.

    And with modern engines you're not even going to be producing loads of pollution. (Certainly a lot less pollution than it takes to move the ship.)

    My question is, what do they do with thier sewage and trash?
