There was a similar case shortly after the birth of the www. Site "A" sued Site "B" for quoting part of thier website and linking to it if readers wanted to read more. Imagine the horror, one site linking to another.
Anyway, the court decided it was not Copyright infringement because the original source was provided and given full credit, and some other factors.
Well, since IE7 is supposed to have Tabbed browsing, maybe not CSS2.0 support, but possible CSS2.1 and is not supposed to support ActiveX. Chances are thier plan is to use the Mozilla/Firefox core for thier browser, with their own render engine.[/speculation]
... It's a firefox wannabe, with a big blue "e". My question is. what does an "e" have to do with surfing the web? At least the fox is running around the world. (A big fox, or a small world, you can decide)
I think it's more the fact that they claim to own your conversations and can do as they wish with it. This implies they may be reading it, or just logging it.
Either way, if i'm sending lyric clips to a friend of mine who lives 100+Km away, I don't want them selling the chorus to someone else.
And to add to that. How many people use an IM program of some sort for work? Should aoHell own their ideas too?
Since it's only Libel if it's not true, then I say yes. Make the newspapers ensure that they are publishing the FACTS not the guesses. Make them responsable for what they write sinc if it's true no court would punish them for writing it anyway.
The only job the Labels should have is distrobution of the CD's. The demand for a permanant media is there. Take for example, the CD audio quality is 96KB (that's KiloBYTES) per second and a high end MP3 or OGG is only 320Kb (that's Kilobits) per second.
There is NO reason for the Labels to own the music that the artists write and create. Think of it as if MS owned all software that ran on their OS. I just don't make sense.
GIVE THE MUSIC BACK TO THE ARTISTS, then watch what they do with it. Much like when the record label didn't like Wilco's album and cancelled the contract. They released the album online, and people paid Wilco directly.
The logic was just brutally flawed. Attempted murder was punishable by death, and murder was defined as "Killing a person." So when you tried to kill yourself, it was considered attempted murder, and thus punishable by death.

Not my site, I found the link in the forum that links to the source code.
A working cache of the original site is available over here

Looks like it's still Ahead Software
NeroLinux is made by Ahead Software (aka makers of Nero).
/. post Nero is made by Nero. And we know the editors are always right. ;-)
According to the
BTW: It bugged me for a while that they don't even know who made the software.

Bittorrent + slashdot = great downloads.
Can we get a slashdotnova.org, or similar torrent site. That'd kick @$$.
"Maybe it's just to demonstrate the penguin power of Linux.
Obligitory Simpsons.
"Worst pun ever" - Comic book guy.
Off topic. Does Comic book guy have a name? Has anyone ever heard it?
Not only is this a dupe, but really old news. I noticed this at least a month ago.
The German company Nero, developers of the award-winning Nero Burning ROM suite for windows...
I may be mistaken, but isn't Nero Burning ROM made by Ahead software? And Nero is the product.
if you go to http://www.ahead.de/en/index2.htm you get redirected to Nero.com, but that's still ahead softwares website.
Or on a news for nerds site, the editors don't need to be nerds and be aware of this?
Are you kidding?
I don't know when the last time they used a confirmed source for news.
Remember the WinFS post and retraction not that long ago
"No privacy for you!" - The privacy nazi
Chi-Ching!

Are they owned by google?
Am I the only one that thinks that journalism is going to the shitter. BetaNews posted an UNCONFIRMED story. As in, didn't research it fully.
God it's good to find good news these days. Especially with government "regulations" (aka. Filtering)

I hope this is the way it all goes in the end.
Same could be said for FPS gamers, or RTS gamers.
Nothing was wrong with it as such.

Which is what they wanted to begin with.
I told helen to relax. But she wouldn't listen.
I knew it was just a matter of time before she blew her top.
Thank you, I'm hear each tuesday thru thursday.
Most journalists report facts
