    Try to repeat the test with a Galaxy Tab 7.7 (AMOLED screen resulting in best picture quality in tablets at the moment) and see the real difference it makes in power usage. I would love to see a fast change in content designers to start using black as background for all digital content, at least give us an option to do so without add-ons that may break all the color interaction...

    Just 2 obsolete technologies being tested? OLED is the future in Picture quality and energy saving, so where is this technology represented there? there are 15" OLED LG's TV's and there will be 55" from Samsung and LG later this year. Plasma also have best picture quality for big TV's at the moment. I'm sure Plasma, OLED and CRT (all emissive technologies with better Picture quality) can save a big part of energy when showing large dark screen areas. I'm tired of white backgrounds for everything in computers trying to replicate the paper. But unlike paper, computer monitors emit light and we keep hours staring at them :(

    About 5 years ago I got a 20" 4:3 1600x1200 LCD and have been searching for a new IPS LCD for the past 2 years, but either they are too bright for a dark room (even with the minimum brightness) or resolution can't match the 1200lines I'm aleready using :( Or the few (16:10) that match those requirements are like 10x more expensive :( Is it so hard to make backlight dimable below 100cd/m2 !?! I've aleready bought one and sent it back beacause diming down the brightness only adjusted the palete and not the backlight (gray instead of blacks) stupid manufacturers. This way I might end up buying an OLED in a few years time... (but again I suspect vertical resolution will be the lower 1080 lines :(

    Ups, now it just signed in automaticaly without I evan try again :) I heard the typical skype sign in sound from the phone, and there it was online again.

    I'm having the same problem in Portugal with a Nexus One. It worked fine, I've made a call with good audio quality both ways, but I think skype downed my bettery and now can't sign in again :(

    EV's might need a lidle help to get established, but in the future, we'll need them more than they need us ;) A healthy world can't have milions of mobile burners in big cities.

    I have an EOS 550D (aka T2i) and the raw still format capture 14 bit per channel, so it sould be also available for video mode, even if it requires a custom format.

    Lets hope this will push google to offer turn-by-turn GPS navigation in Europe. I'm sure the Nexus One will be more expensive after tax in EU, so it doesn't make much sense. Hum.. what if I buy a Droid and drive by car to Europe, will turn-by-turn stop working at some point and multi-touch kiks in? anyways I always have my multi-touch steering wheel :P

    I'll try some wireless power pad's to put under my Tesla Roadster ;) and on top there will be solar panels, and some wind turbins on both sides:)

    For many years we've had wireless charging for electric tooth-brush, and a lot of diferent plugs on chargers for mobile phones.

    Now that EU will force a standard plug for charging mobile phones, we are going to move away from plugs :)

    otherwise the disavantage of this form factor are a biger problem: -If you want to use more than one, each has to have it's own power supply -no easy car (12v) power adaption -diferent models for 110/230v countries (with diferent plugs types)

    What about that lady that put her dog in the microwave to dry it, now he has a time machine for dogs, but dogs don't like loud ultra-sounds, or old dogs also lose the capability to hear hight frequencies?. Anyway if the dog drink the whole bottle, it'll get slower watching the time going by at a faster rate as well as getting older ;)

    I've got an intel G35 (integrated graphics) based board from Asus (P5E-VM HDMI) and im'm prety happy with 3D at 1600x1200 on ubuntu 8.04beta. I usualy don't like integrated devices, but I choose this board just bacause intel released open source drivers/specs and they deserve this choice.

    Recently bought an Asus P5E-VM HDMI and I'm happy runing ubuntu 8.04 beta (with E8200@3.2Ghz intel CPU) it's MUCH faster in everything (including GoogleEarth OpenGL using 1600x1200) than my previous system with AthlonXP3000+ and nVidia FX5200.

    I just chose this board cos intel released specs and open documentation for programing the graphics processor, unfortunately actually there are no separated graphics card from intel.

    I'm also planing to buy an EeePC witch use an integrated intel graphics and it seems to be more than adequate even for XGL.

    I've also played just like you said, it was a realy misterious material, just like magnets ;)
    I was about 12 years old kid and could buy about 100grams on a lab near by, and at that time I was planing to make an "inteligent" air joystick for my ZX-Spectrum computer.

    I was planing to use a mercury bouble inside a plastic egg box (from bouble gums or so) with some metalic screws sticked around in the axis direction so this screws would have the mercury bouble closing the electric contact...

    I did not complete the project, after this I got a commodore amiga and later an analog joystick.

    But still played with mercury boubles in my hands for about a month or so.

    I was tempted to put it in the mouth but was afraid it could be dangerous, so I didn't try (thanks god).

    I don't think I have any health problem, but now I that know it was very dangerous, I'm courious what consequences it might had..

    Today, I'm a very distracted person (always have been, even way before my first mercury contact:) and I also easily forget many things, but I guess google play a role in this (I always find what I need there:)

    I had once hard pains in right fist and got used to handle the mouse with left hand, but soon the pains also came to left hand (in a week or 2) but I found out that using a very tiny mouse (like this one: http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PAUM01U but I think this has low quality button switches ) the fingers don't need to be so high and cause much less discomfort.

    So I always asked myself why there are almost no flat mouses on shops (I know of one with a PCMCIA card, but I din't want to be so extreme:)?

    Right now I use 2 mouses (one on each side of the keyboard) connected via USB and I use both whatever I'm more pleased at each time a hand leave the keyboard:)
