  1. Re:Good luck with that. on Rite Aid and CVS Block Apple Pay and Google Wallet · · Score: 1

I wish Google Wallet were that simple. My usual Rite Aid experience has been:

    - Pull phone out of pocket.
    - Unlock phone.
    - Tap phone to NFC reader.
    - Unlock Google Wallet.
    - Due to poor cell signal in store, app takes a long time to connect.
    - Transaction doesn't go through.
    - Put phone back in pocket.
    - Pull wallet out of pocket.
    - Pay with a credit card anyway.

And that was before this week.

  7. It's not just Linux users that are shut out... on Apple Cuts Off Linux iPod Users · · Score: 1

I bought a 160GB Classic on Sunday (the 60GB iPod Photo I've had for two years had 11MB free, and I was waiting until they broke the 100GB barrier to upgrade), and tried to do what I did when I bought the 60GB iPod Photo that replaced my original 20GB 3G - copy the iPod_Control directory over to the new iPod. I didn't want to have to re-enter ratings for 60GB worth of songs, and I didn't really want to lose my play counts, either. The end result? The new Classic had a cow - it told me I had zero songs, and iTunes recommended a full Restore, much like what happened in TFA. I ended up using Senuti to pull everything off my old iPod (play counts and ratings included), pump it into iTunes, and copied everything over to the Classic manually.

I understand that Apple wants everyone to use iTunes to manage their music and movie collections, but even back in the days of my 20GB 3G, I had no desire to allow iTunes to auto-fill my iPod. It's nice that they allow you to manually manage your media, but because I do I have to jump through flaming hoops every two years or so when it's time to upgrade to a larger-capacity iPod.

If you want to do MP3s, make sure they're 64 kBits, 24 kHz, Joint Stereo, and renamed to .MID as opposed to .MP3. E-mail as above.

Technically, an election isn't over until the electoral college meets on December 13, 2004 (the Monday after the second Wednesday in December). At which point the electors are not bound to the results of their state as to who to cast their vote towards.

26 states require their electors to vote according to the winner of their state's popular vote totals, and there are supposedly some severe penalties for those who don't. Of course, it's never been an issue, because the parties are very careful about who they choose as electors.
