Thank you for the link, whilst the description on how you create it is short and brief the diagram on how it works makes up for it. I'm going to give it a try once I'm out of university.
After seeing this, and hearing lots of things about Second Life, I figured I'd give it a go on my Mac (Mac Pro w/ Radeon x1900) and found that the application crashed twice after about 30-40 minutes play time.
It does seem like an interesting idea though, does anyone else have similar problems?
With the rise of C# and Java being the languages of choice, and having maybe a 2-3 lectures on what assembly language is, it's likely that the new generations of programmers just don't care. I often get called 'crazy' for daring to code in C.
I remember getting two of my sisters, and three non serious game players to play the fork lift truck parts of Shenmue for me when I was bored, that way I could afford to buy all those cute little toys. Weird how what should be the most boring repetative bits of the game can be the parts that really appeal to someone (It's meant to be the main characters job for those not in the know)
okay, thousands then:P
Regardless, personally I can't use a modem as our phone lines don't work like normal lines because they are campus based and it would probably cost the same as buying HL2 itself to connect to the net via a modem...
The point is that millions of gamers will be left in the cold when they realize the game they just bought is a painful paperweight.
Which is exactly how I feel, and I'm sure many others do around the globe at University networks too strict to allow Steam to update. I personally can't believe the lack of proxy options on Steam so we could have at least activated the freakin' game!

It'll be good at educating the masses, though it does seem really dumbed down, feels a bit abstract to me.
I certainly prefer it over the old shiney green and pinstripe it used to be for apple.slashdot

Why they didn't talk with NCSoft for a collaborative effort? Or anyone but Sony... Still best of luck to them, quite a crowded market.
