while one would hope that americans would hold the high ground and apply a higher standard, where in our constitution or body of laws does it say that we will do same? Or where does it say that the bill of rights applies to foreign citizens captured on foreign soil while they were in the act of attacking US military forces??

How does US laws apply in a foreign country on foreign citizens? As far as facts is concerned, these people were not attacking US forces, they were defending themselves against invading US forces.

Much like it should be presumed that if armed robber came into MY house, I would be labeled as defending myself, not attacking.

Hell, some information on TV might be false, but it gets believed by people for the same reason....laziness and apathy (and of course I'll admit that I'm guilty of this as well).

I'm getting modded into oblivion for this. But here is my point.

Where I'm from the large chain bookstore Chapters/Indigo essentially has forced all small bookstores to close. Somewhat like how Walmart causes small mom and pop stores to go bankrupt trying to compete.

Having stated the economic situation, pretty soon you will have no other choice but to go to Chapters/Indigo if you want to purchase a book, or Walmart if you're looking for household items.

Now, having essentially a monopoly, the respective owners decide because a particular product is offensive to them, they choose not to sell it, thereby imposing THEIR moral values on the rest of us that are not so fortunate to own the store.

I'm not saying we should force them to sell anything, but when you are a single entity (either owner/corporation) controlling the free will of those around you, it's something to take into consideration.

For example, say I was living in a religious city, and I want to buy contraceptives, but it is against the moral values of the owner of the only pharmacy in town to sell them. Does that mean I do not have to right to purchase it?

Basically, what I'm trying to get across, despite the many moderations is that as a monopoly, we need to watch out for monopoly imposed moral values. The values of the entire population should not be controlled by the few who louder voices.

As for a solution to this? I have no solid idea, it is a tough one to decide.

Personally if I were a terrorist, I don't think that would be my message.

First off, for me to be a "terrorist/freedom fighter" I would have exhausted all my other options.

To set it up, your country has been bombing the crap out of mine. Regardless of the target being military or not, my life is pretty shitty. I have no easy means to access the necessities of life. Water works is destroyed because it was a strategic target, transportation links destroyed, food is hard to obtain.

Everyday my life is a struggle to see tomorrow. Though I am a civilian, my life is threatened by an errant bomb, or simply just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. If your country would just leave or stop helping my oppressors, things would be better.

I have pleaded with you and your government, neither would listen. Your fellow countrymen are indifferent about the subject because they have no first hand experience with it. They don't know what's happening here.

Living a long happy life is not on the cards for me, but if I can do something to ensure the lives of my family and children can be better than mine, then I will do anything to get that, including giving my life.

So, in order to open the world's eyes to our plight, I will bring some of my daily life to your civilization. I will make sure you and your country sees what it is doing to me and my country.

While I have to run on the street from shelter to shelter in hopes I do not get hit by a bomb, you can stroll and wander on your streets without much care. If you only knew what I have to go through, perhaps you will change how you treat me and my country.

This is what I believe a "terrorist" thinks and feels in his mind right before he detonates himself or crashes his plane. It's desparation that drives these people, not so much insanity.
