Like maybe doing something for the People, instead of their pockets. And no, its not the Republicans or the Democrats or the Libertarians, its ALL OF THEM!

    If you REALLY don't want them to know whats in your email...

    use the good old One Time Pads. Type out the cyphered text into the email. Let em read it. Let them try to crack it. Provided you actually randomized your key (random slices of random slices of radio noise across frequencies (chosen at random based on previous radio noise))

    It worked for NSA. It worked for KGB. The only way to get through it was to find the key book or penetrate at the source/reciever.

    Anything that the sniffer can't parse would trigger that then.

    If you can't parse something, from the code's view, it can either be encrypted or innocent data. How exactly would it be able to tell the difference? It can't. It's either something it understands or something encrypted.

    If the thing was coded to ignore things it couldn't parse, then what happens if you simply make up your own algorithm (just use ROT13 or something) on top of the PGP/RSA/whatever? It would be nearly pointless.

    (1) It's not bloatware.
    (2) It's logo isn't plastered everywhere.
    (3) It runs KDE applications fine.
    (4) It's fast.
    (5) It has a small footprint.
    (6) Everything that runs on it doesn't start with a G or a K.

    The longer the IDE cable the more crosstalk and errors you get, and, concequently, the slower the drive gets (untill you start getting corruption or the drive simply doesn't work).

    If you make sure the cable is short enough, you can do this. Just make sure you protect it (thin insulation for an out-of-case wire - IDE cables are fragile) and keep the dust bunnies outside of your case.

    Doom III runs nearly fine on my 900mhz, 312MB PC100 ram, GeForce2 MX system.

    Im sure the XBOX can handle it, especially if they turn off some of the mandatory settings (that i would have turned down - for instance LOW detail looked pretty friggin high to me)

    Right, but you know someone out there will link the daemon logo with satan and satanity.

    It's just not safe to use if you are going to try it in a business environment. As crappy as they are, the MS avatars (clippy, MSN butterfly, ect) are teeming-masses friendly.

    Thats why i experience a 2 FPS drop? You just pulled that number out of your ass.

    It doesn't emulate. It's a wrapper - it translates the calls to the appropriate API, rather than drawing it in software with occasional help from your hardware(as would be emulation).

    But, you do have a point in that using them doesn't push devs to develope cross-platform. But, neither does the small market share making noise.

    Maybe he didn't have a modem to use. Or didn't want to tie up his phone line for 3 solid days downloading obese windows updates.

    Maybe his phone wiring is so shoddy he cant use dial up above 32kbps (like me. it sucks - thank god for open 802's)

    Dial up used to be acceptable for installing windows, not any more. When's the last time you checked to see how much downloading updating WinXP (from base install to fully updated) takes?

    It gets IE, media player 7, ect. running under WINE.

    You need to get DCOM98 somehow though. I actually do have an ancient windows98 CD, so it worked well.

    You mean overestimating. If i were to underestimate my cooling power, i would actually be able to safely overclock it more. If i underestimated my PU, i could add more load to it safely.

    You have a valid point though. My CPU and Video card are about 5 years old, and they have been overclocked to about 120% of their normal rating. No issues outside of age and cheap components.

    Well, both Steam and Gamespy fall under this umbrella. I don't know, but doesn't ASE have a buddy feature of some kind too?

    I hope that Yahoo has a good reason for doing this, as I used to respect them somewhat (as opposed to my disrespect for Microsoft, AOL, Adelphia, Verizon, ect (big list in my case, but more than half are probably ill-founded disrespects)).

    So are half-a-dozen other serverbrowsers that have a buddy list.

    What a stupid patent! This is why patents should not be allowed to exist in software.

    Not everyone has access to a heated pool and lives in a warm environment all year round. I wouldn't be caught dead swimming in an unheated pool here during winter, it hits -20F at times.

    I prefer swimming in natural bodies of water, but that can be kind of hard with over 2 inches of ice on the surface.

    aMule. It's in the debian package list, i know that. It connects to the ed2k network (the emule one) and plans for KAD are in the works. I see shareaza users on ed2k, not sure if it is the same network.
