In America Progressive Conservatives are called "Bull Moose" and Teddy Rosevelt was their champion. Don't for get, TR, the Republican, was the driving force behind the anti-trust laws actually being leveraged against Standard Oil, among others. TR also started the national park system. There would be no ANWR to bitch about drilling inside of if not for Teddy Rosevelt, a Republican. However, the point is that both parties have strayed so far from their origins (Democrats being pro-State, pro-individual, and pro-property; Republicans being pro-Federal intervention) that the DNC may as well change their name to the CCCP, and most Republicans should campaign for the position of Caesar rather than President and give Roman saultes and 'Ave!'s to the troops.
Personally, I like the Romans. However, I am pro-States rights, pro-Property Rights, and stuff like that. I'm not a libertarian though. Zell Miller kicked ass the other night.

McCain was the son of an Admiral, and that's bad enough. That might get a prisoner exchange. Congressmen have power. The son of a congressman is leverage. Plus, at the time of Bush's TANG service, H.W. Bush was ambassador to the United Nations. Again, with the two waring superpowers sitting across from each other in the UN Security Council, not the place you want something so personal as your son's captivity in the hands of the enemy to alter your decision making.

but no one talks about that, do they. No, it's "bush used his father to get a coosh position." -- well, by the time Bush even got his flight wings, the war was almost over anyway. Kerry is 3 years older than W -- of course he had a 3-year jump on being in the war.

as this does not constitute unreasonable search and seizure, nor is it quartering troops in time of peace, i don't see how this violates your so-called "right to privacy." Look at it this way: thousands of people every day, that'd be a lot of keys. If even a handful of people every day walked off with the keys (as i am sure would inevitably happen... i still have a hotel key my great uncle ripped off of the plaza), pretty soon they would be out of keys to the lockers. The locker system would be usless.

Also, what if someone picked your pocket, got your locker key, and stole your shit? You'd be pretty pissed off. But, they aren't going to be able to cut off your finger without you noticing. If they also run the print against known terrorists, how is this any different than when the police run prints from a crime scene against prints of previous offenders with the same m.o.? It isn't, is it?

So, in short -- no need for keys which can be lost or stolen, protect your stuff better, and maybe catch some terrorists (who deserve to be shot on the spot by the police, not recieve a "fair trial" because they aren't citizens, and the ones who are citizens are fight with these people are no better than junkyard dogs anyway and should lose their citizenship and be put on the rack).

Remember: There is no "right" to privacy, only a "reasonable expectation" in certain situations, and not only does this not constitute one, it isn't an invasion anyway.

Norway is better off without the Eurocrats in Brussels. The EEC was bad enough. The EU was like putting Ireland on life support...the Euro was the death blow. I miss the Irish Pound, the French and Swiss Francs, Schillings, Marks, Pessetas.... they money was part of national character and identity. Euros are boring. On the other hand, it makes for easier traveling. On the other other hand, when Euros were not concrete, but could be digitally traded and used as a common medium of exchange for conversion at ATM and stuff, that was better. Euro paper money is gay. especially when they first introduced it to Italy, people were getting away with passing off monopoly money as the bills. Do they do it because they are poor and we are not? Well...bin Laden is a multi-millionheir. That's certainly not his excuse. But it's the same reason they attack "moderate" arab/muslim states. The states that let the women take off the head scarves, let the the tv stations show 'will & grace,' let the teenagers fornicate, let the queers out in public, on video tape, et cetera. Yes, I would definatly say those are the root causes of terrorism and it's your fault for not seeing it, for patronizing the filth and scum which is an abomonination before God, Christ, Mary, and all the Saints -- things that were shunned since the fall of the Roman empire. Well, here this, bubba -- you start to bring the filth and perversion out of the woodworks once again and not only will the United States fall like Rome, but once the family is destroyed, the strength of the individual undermined, and our faith outlawed, we will become dependent on the State -- just what Hillary Clinton wants -- a Soviet United States. Then obviously you have never read any of the founding fathers' works. They ALL, EVERY ONE, TO A MAN, say that our Rights come from God, that we are "endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights," and that governments are instituted among men to preserve the natural rights to which all men are entitled.

The 10th Amendment is there because of course, people and governments can't really be trusted. If people were perfect we wouldn't need government. Hell, if people were perfect we'd still be in the Garden of Eden, naked, having a fun time without any worries at all! (note: the "pope notes" at the start of genesis in my bible say taht this story is not to be taken litteral, which is grand because i don't. however, it is i rather good analogy for lots of things). That is also why we have the 2nd Amendment -- "The beauty of the 2nd Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it away" -- Thomas Jefferson.

What is not a good platform to base government and rights on is human whim. The council on human rights from the French Revolution quickly gave way to Robspiere and the Reign of Terror. France is on their 5th Republic. We are still on our first.

As for 'natural order,' most people in the world (except communists and atheists who are all the same thing) view the natural order as behing headed up by a God or Gods. 85% of Americans are Christian. Then there are Jews (about 2%) Muslims (about 1%), and Hindus(3*number of 7-11 nation wide), and a few other weird religions. a BBC pole taken recently said that a little over 90% of Americans are in favour of 'Under God' in the pledge.

I did not say that the Government derives its legitimacy from God, merely that the People instute Government to protect the rights which are derrived from God, namely life liberty and property, and the means to protect those rights (politically with speech, assembly, et cetera, and with arms).

When this is not the case, say, the French Revolution, then rights can be taken away by the government that "granted" them. This is irresponsible, horrible, and heretical. Sure, people have a "choice" to say it or not, they also have a "choice" to not live here if they won't pledge their alligence to the greatest nation on earth.
