The 50 dollars is to pay off all the loans that the company had to take out to make sure that the developers were getting paychecks in the years before the game was acctually released. These games aren't created overnight. The 15 dollars a month is mainly for server management and development in game. If you figure 5 of the 15 goes to server management, then 10 of it is going to pay the devs to build things while the game is still being played. Most good MMO's will release big publishes that you don't need to pay for. I know Dark age of camelot releases every other expansion pack for free, Lineage 2 releases "Chronicles" or whatever they like to call them, and Star Wars Galaxies will often throw in new dungeons for people to go to (especially since they got more devs).
30 bucks an hour or so. I don't acctually charge that but I wait til people ask "How much do I owe you?" and I repsond with "Most people pay me about 30 bucks and hour." Most of the times I will get 80 bucks for that 2 hour job because the customers don't want to be "most people".
Of course... you have to consider the fact that I am a teenager. I see a lot of people with the "he's just a kid" attitude. Because of this I think they feel my work is of a lesser quality and not worthy of the cash they would pay an adult.
The only SOE game that is still 50 dollars retail is Everquest 2. SWG and it's expansion are 20 dollars each. Planetside is 7 dollars and it's expansions are 20 dollars a pop or less. Everquest 1 can be had with all expansions (minus the newest which is now 20)for 20 dollars.
I am probably going to do it on one of my accounts. I play SWG now (I have 3 accounts), but wouldn't mind playing EQ2 also on certain occasions. I liked EQ2 but found myself spending a lot of time looking for groups through the week in the middle of the day when I just wanted to play. EQ2 sucks for soloing so I quit. I always wanted to try planetside (I have done their 2 week trials before) and I think it would be a pretty fun game if I spent some time with it.
Isn't this already one of the cheaper MMO's? I am not totally sure but I recall seeing that it was only 12 or 13 dollars a month (if you buy a month at a time). This may be wrong though.

I used to spend atleast 100 a month on games before I started playing SWG (yea yea, love it or hate it). Ever since then I buy maybe 5 PC games a year (at their reduced prices, not when they come out). Even with my 2 accounts, paying 30 dollars a month, I am saving money.
I agree, I have my dell 9100 with the same backpack and they work great together. I have biked with it before and the backpack is very stable and there is a fair amount of room.
I don't see how people say that a Laptop backpack is vulnerable, I would think that a messenger bag would be just as bad, if not worse.
They can't name it vPod! It doesn't have an "i" in it anywhere, maybe ivPod or maybe we could throw in some crafty words like "life" or "motion" to attract the artsy types. Wait, they already did that.
...set the standard for this sort of thing and give other people something to copy off of so we can start getting some better products of this type.
I really thought they would have jumped on this bandwagon a while ago....

I am shopping for a sub 2000 dollar laptop myself and the ABS Mayhem 2 looked like a winner. It is pretty light and sports nice hardware, however I haven't really seen any reviews for it so I don't know if they are supposed to be any good. http://www.abspc.com is the site.

Lineage II was fun. I played open and closed beta, but the grind just started too early. One of my friends bought 20 dollars worth of adena on ebay, used it to buy some stuff, then made the money back and sold it on ebay. He said that made it more fun because he got better pretty fast. The game looks like a blast at above level 40, but I just don't have the desire to play up to there right now.
I play SWG right now and I can barely stand to play on the live servers because of the constant whining and bickering. The forums are un-bearable. I play test center now and it is like playing a whole new game, people help each other out and it is like the game used to be on live servers back at launch.

Make sure you save link as (or save target as if you are still using IE). I imagine it would be really slow if you tried to stream it.
