  1. OSCAR on Building Your First Cluster? · · Score: 3, Informative

Last year I built a cluster using OSCAR http://oscar.openclustergroup.org/
I haven't tried any others, but OSCAR installs pretty easy. Just run the installer on the head node, and when it is done it feeds an image to each of the other computers that are a part of the cluster. It includes the ganglia monitoring tools and the apache server so you can view it.

I don't see the confusion. It seems just like a relationship/marriage to me. First there was the honeymoon period where everyone was like 'ooh, I love you, internet', then there was the cooling off period when everyone realized that the internet wasn't the answer to all their problems, and ever since we have been building a good solid relationship. Combine that with the fact that we continuously shuffle old people out the door while younger people (who have grown up in a world with the internet) take their place and I don't see how the internet can do anything other than grow anymore.

I personally despise all of this crap coming fomr the gov't, but on a logical level it may be unavoidable. Here is why: When people still drove horse buggies there wasn't really a need for traffic enforcement. As automobiles became popular (and faster) more control over the traffic system was needed. This can be generalized to many systems, including our society. When the population was low there was more room for deviant behavior (or it was easier to observe and correct deviant behavior), but as the system approaches levels that are closer to full capacity, then better control is needed. The system requires tighter specifications.

I am not an engineer and this may not exactly get my point across, but there are many /. readers who are smarter than myself, and I would like to know what they think about this.

You don't have to move far away. Just have their phone number(s) blocked by your phone company. Label their email address as spam. Keep the house dimly lit at night (also good for the light bill) and mount a webcam near the door so you can identify people before you let on that you are home. Throw in some extra special touches like always leaving a few days worth of newspapers outside your house.
An alternate move might be to fake a stroke or something and play dumb. This is probably the easiest solution because it requires no extra setup outside of when the people are actually near.
