Last year I built a cluster using OSCAR http://oscar.openclustergroup.org/
I haven't tried any others, but OSCAR installs pretty easy. Just run the installer on the head node, and when it is done it feeds an image to each of the other computers that are a part of the cluster. It includes the ganglia monitoring tools and the apache server so you can view it.
I love Star Wreck, it is an awesome movie. It took them something like six years to make it. That is a long time away to start telling me about a new movie now. Jeesh, I thought it was hard waiting the six or so months in between BSG seasons.
I don't see the confusion. It seems just like a relationship/marriage to me. First there was the honeymoon period where everyone was like 'ooh, I love you, internet', then there was the cooling off period when everyone realized that the internet wasn't the answer to all their problems, and ever since we have been building a good solid relationship. Combine that with the fact that we continuously shuffle old people out the door while younger people (who have grown up in a world with the internet) take their place and I don't see how the internet can do anything other than grow anymore.
I personally despise all of this crap coming fomr the gov't, but on a logical level it may be unavoidable. Here is why: When people still drove horse buggies there wasn't really a need for traffic enforcement. As automobiles became popular (and faster) more control over the traffic system was needed. This can be generalized to many systems, including our society. When the population was low there was more room for deviant behavior (or it was easier to observe and correct deviant behavior), but as the system approaches levels that are closer to full capacity, then better control is needed. The system requires tighter specifications.
I am not an engineer and this may not exactly get my point across, but there are many/. readers who are smarter than myself, and I would like to know what they think about this.
You don't have to move far away. Just have their phone number(s) blocked by your phone company. Label their email address as spam. Keep the house dimly lit at night (also good for the light bill) and mount a webcam near the door so you can identify people before you let on that you are home. Throw in some extra special touches like always leaving a few days worth of newspapers outside your house. An alternate move might be to fake a stroke or something and play dumb. This is probably the easiest solution because it requires no extra setup outside of when the people are actually near.
I did not RTFA, is this exploit something that is easy to do? In other words should I recompile my X11 now or can I wait a few weeks until I have more time?
p.s. If it is an easy exploit, please do NOT show me a demonstration.
As long as typesquatters do not have an really simialr page to the original, or a porn site, I don't see anything wrong with typesquatting at all. How can you call it "cluttering the internet" when no-one sees it except by mistake? Let these typosquatters spend money registering a doamin that almost no-one will see...
I do not understand the problem either. I am suprised at the number of people complaining about this. Suddenly the freedom lovers want to be the oppresors.
I am interested in seeing the movie. I do not live in NY, nor did I see any mention of a way to obtain a copy. Does anyone know when private copies will be available?
Sometimes people want to change things when there really is no reason. New technologies come and new sites spring up with new looks, but the grass is always greener on the other side. The look of this site has always worked for me. I think the attempt to keep the new design close to what it is now is a testament to the fact that it is a good site design. It is always tempting to follow something shiny and new, but great companies seldom make anything more than trivial changes to their image.
What I think is interesting is that program is like an environmental hurdle for computerized paper writers everywhere. Now the bots must become more advanced.
I think it is time we start addressing the real problem: Television.
Television simply has to much influence over people. It is the ultimate propaganda machine for those subtle enough to use it. More than that though, I feel like television just makes people fat and dumb.
Without television, the people would not be as easily pacified. Without television, the sheep would not be sheep.
Yeah, but if you're going to buy into that, the safest thing to do is to move out into the mountains, grow your own food, and have a really trusty shotgun. That, or move to Canada.
OMG! That is almost exaclty what I have been telling my wife all along. I'll see you after the holocaust/famine/pandemic, brother.
I am also currently looking for a job. I always feel that I fail to communicate who it is that I really am. I really believe that I would be hired if I could just get them to see the true me. I have maintained a 4.0 in an attempt to demonstrate my potential, but I welcome any help I can get in the interview department. I hope these tests spread like wildfire.
China probably should get some slack since they are aggressively working on reducing their population.
Although I don't have time to get the actual facts right now, I remember from one of my classes that, becuase of this, China may have trouble stopping their population loss in the coming generations.
Come on man, sometimes shit just happens. Sure maybe some lesser games should have come out along the way to keep the fires burning, but thats just water under the bridge now. They are still just some people like us. They are probably feeling a little uncomfortable right now, pouring a part of their lives into a game that people are already predicting to be of mediocre quality.
I am ready for your game whenever you are, great game makers.
Or at least you could fairly easily install a remote control system. It could be operated from a pda over wifi, or something. It would be useful in parking lots, etc.
Now that the car has the mechanical ability to control the steering and such, it shouldn't be so hard to supply the system with a new logic. Add in some extra cameras to watch the road, tie in the ol' gps, and you get a real smart car that drives you around. Cool.
I don't know if a license with TiVo would have changed the design of the DVR from what they use now, but if so it would be a shame.
I love how the one unit controls two TVs independently. I also like the 100 hours of record time. Now you can even download your shows onto a portable player that they will sell you.
It is real nice.
I hate to give out the secret, but...

Laugh all you want, call me stupid or whatever, but I can't get past that little mark of the beast thing.

Somebody should show them the ponies.

As long as you are happy. I think that is the criteria. Most people that are living with depresion are not happy.

I also pondered this before. Sadly, I just don't believe there is any way in hell it will ever happen.

Now that doesn't happen all the time, but there are enough good deals to make it fun.
