Dude, a Steve Jobs costume is one of the easiest in the world to make, and at a lot of places can be considered attire safe for work. All you need is a black turtleneck and a pair of blue jeans and voila, you have yourself a Steve Jobs costume. Now getting a cadre of fanatically devoted fans willing to spend money on whatever you release is another matter.(I kid! I kid! I kid because I love!)
But doesn't the language itself play a part in the culture? Almost any language you look at there are bound to be words that don't translate well because the object or action or emotion in question is so innately bound to the culture that they made a word for it, but to other cultures the concept isn't all that common so they never made a word for it.
Also, even translation by the best humans still destroys a lot of the subtlety and beauty in a language. It's a best a piecemeal game. Hell, most novels/tv shows are not even translated literally, some artistic liberty is usually taken to make the work "flow" in the language it is being translated into. Translation is great for contracts or technical documents, but if you really want to understand a culture then you need to learn its language.
According to wikitravel if you can find a job that promises to pay you at least 45k euro then you don't need a work permit, or if you are under 30, then you only need a job that promises to pay you 33k euro.....
Well, not really, but by the time I was 25 I have had tech jobs in both Japan and Germany(I'm currently in the fatherland). While there certainly are some good aspects to living abroad, being away from home can kind of suck. My mom was hit by a car recently, she is ok but the feeling that you are so far away never helps the situation.
My advice to Americans is to learn another language and to not rule anything out. Though I would suggest Asia, because that seems to be where the future is headed. I plan on going back to the states for a few years to get my PhD then heading out somewhere in Asia(probably not Japan because although they have had some nice growth recently, the sun is setting. Plus white fanboys give foreigners a bad name there).
Actually a few days ago the Japanese minister of trade, Akira Amarai, publicly expressed similar concerns. He is worried about Sony's long term competitiveness as well as the effect that the poor reputation of the Sony brand has had on all Japanese electronics in general.
Actually only the 24" iMac can get a 750 gb drive, but what did surprise me is that the iMacs are much more customizable than they were before. You can even customize the CPU(Though for $250, it is a bit of a rip off going from 2.16Ghz to 2.33Ghz but...) You could never do that in the old G4/G5 days.
who really wants North Korean porn. Come on North Korea, see all the porn and ads the internet has to offer! Sure some may look at material that isn't flattering to your regime, but if history is any judge, 99% of them will be too busy "punching the monkey" in more ways than one to care.
reticent to license OS X to other PC vendors or sell it to run on beige boxes now that it is Intel. They tried something along those lines with the clones, and as the article states it was a complete disaster. Ultimately besides a few loud people, most of the people who would buy OS X for generic PCs are the ones who would buy a mac anyhow, so Apple loses profit while barely increasing market share. Not a good tradeoff from the corporate perspective I would think.
I'm assuming he means $3k AU since he mentions how much the mac cost in Australian dollars earlier in the blurb. 3k Aussie dollars is about 2275 USD, still a bundle but....
Had a dream for a global pornography network. Why else would you even have computers?
In all seriousness, I think you are focusing only on a small subset of computing. By my 25th birthday I have had computing jobs in the US, Germany and Japan. Aside from some idiosyncrasies(cell phones that slice, dice, and make julian fries in Japan, cute robots etc) the bulk of computing is focused on automating processes and exchanging information. All cultures communicated before the invention of the computer, all cultures continue to communicate, but now use computers to make that communication faster and more efficient. All cultures also make things, if they didn't then they probably wouldn't exist for very long. Again, computers simply help to automate that and are pretty independent of the culture making the product.
Just remember there is a lot more to "computing" than the personal computer.
is that Gartner should go out of business permanently. This is just yet another load of BS from them, just like "50% of tech jobs will be outsourced in the next 5 years, and as it JUST so happens we have an offshore consultancy agency. Imagine that!"
Nothing but crap comes out of Gartner, how they are still in business is beyond me.
The government has a hard enough time tracking down money laundering in the real world, if they made a tax on virtual items it would simply put a few more hoops in the way of people who want to get real money out of it. IE They would launder it. The people getting money would still wind up with less, but unscrupulous people could make a buck off of it instead of the government. Meh.
Do they know what happens when kids collide?

They aren't like 80 year olds, they get up and they go back to doing whatever it was they were doing. I guess the added mass coming from the childhood obesity I keep hearing about would give them more momentum than the days of old, the reduced top speed more than makes up for it:P
it will just end up as a redirect to myspace.com
You are right, the coffee costs too much and the wifi gets way too bogged down to do serious porn surfing.
after the Satellite of Love crashed into it.....

Since we are discussing windows, and being halloween, death, shouldn't the mask be painted blue?

I mean think of a goatse man world tour! The Eiffell Tower, Lincoln monument, Mt. Fuji, the Brandenburg gate.....
Just out of curiosity, how did you get started in Japan career wise?
Taiwan with your Taiwanese wife Jasmine. You put on your web page which you advertised on slashdot.
I guess America will be heartbroken to lose someone with your logic skills.

I know a genuine Sysco 4507 when I see one!

Dude, if your farts have a "shape" I would recommend some pepto bismol......
unlike the real Paris Hilton, you cannot get an STD from second life....
Why can't I order that at my local Chinese restaurant?
