First Pet Savings and Clone, the company that made the first(and as far as I know) only commercially cloned cat for a private pet owner. However, what is interesting is that they could not even make the cloning process work economically at $32k a pop, so I wonder how cloned cows will be economically viable. I guess there is always that economy of scale issue.
That is why you need to factor alcohol in the mix. Then people just stop caring. In fact, being able to play tennis drunk without getting the cops involved is the only reason I can even think to play wii sports(off topic rant but if it is so much like tennis why not actually play tennis? Unless you are drunk then see above)
They have all sorts of crazy fast food there, it's amazingly creative. The McDonalds in Japan are better than the ones in the states which in turn are better than the ones in Europe where I am right now(though they don't have infected mp3 players...yet).
Actually, I would have to say that fast food(and ramen shops where 500 yen can get you a huge bowl of awesome ramen) is one of the things I miss most about living in Japan. Though the beer here in Germany does help to compensate:P
Obligatory Simpsons: Marge and Homer are talking with 2 doctors who want to give Bart "focusin" pills to treat his ADD:
Pharm. 2: Yes, but it's not about slavery, it's about helping kids
concentrate. This pill reduces class clownism 44%.
Pharm. 1: With 60% less sass-mouth.
Pharm. 2: The only thing more effective is regular exercise.

much like what Pandora did for music, I want firefox to do for porn. If I allow it, it can read the porn sites I frequent and suggest new sites that I might enjoy.
Basically I guess it would allow them to play more numbers games with webstats, which are pretty meaningless as recent slashdot stories have demonstrated. Furthermore, we are talking a small percentage of a small percentage, I doubt it will have any longlasting effects.
Way to turn your anecdote into a culture war! This is a small, PRIVATE college in San Antonio. I don't really think it is part of a larger trend. The OP didn't mention it, but for all we know it could be a religious institution. How many small private colleges are you talking about in Canada?
Oh shit, I forgot where I am! I meant to say "Americans are fat dumb sheep!"
Heh, well I don't know about government, but for private company pension funds, the money came from company investments anyway, so you were betting your retirement on the stock market and the financial health of the company. Also, when you died, your family was left with nothing. At least if you invest in a 401k and IRAs your family can get whatever is left in the account.
I think you are overestimating how much it would cost, especially if done right. Germany reunited 17 years ago, and the German economy isn't exactly in the toilet. Conditions in the rural east still aren't all that great, but Germany didn't all of a sudden tank because of re-unification. Neither will South Korera.
I understand that North Korea's economic situation is worse than East Germany's was, but the South Korean economy is more dynamic than the economy of West Germany was at that time and I believe they could absorb the shock if they did things correctly.
You could have said the same thing about Germany 20 years ago, but really despite the cost I think Germans wanted their country to become one(though lots of West Germans still gripe about all the tax money flowing eastward). As per re-unification if it ever does happen the Koreans have in Germany the perfect model of what NOT to do. Years later the East German economy still lags behind the rest of Germany(especially out in the countryside, places like Berlin, Dresden and Leipzig are doing alright). The well-intentioned but misguided investment incentives given to West German companies at the time actually rewarded them for buying up all the industrial infrastructure in the East then scrapping it, exacerbating the economic situation.
We weren't going to be invading North Korea even before they had nuclear weapons. The reason is that half of South Korea's population as well as their political, economic, and cultural capitol is well within the range of North Korea's (relatively crude) artillery. Kim Jong Il has threatened to turn Seoul into "a sea of flames" and he can do it without nukes. There is no way that the US or anyone would be crazy enough to attack North Korea.
Playing Larry games is comforting, I know that no matter how bad I foul it up with the ladies, Larry manages to screw it up worse than I ever could!
Plus it is always fun to find new ways of killing Larry(which is why I didn't like 7, half the fun in the other games was finding out new ways to die!)
Put another way, this would equal 50 full-time employees doing nothing but surfing online game and auction sites."
I just have one question: are they taking applications?
How much you want to bet they found a dead witch under the meteor?
they just tell the RIAA that they are infringing on their copyrighted "sound of cancer" Clean them up real quick :P

Missles don't have to be tipped with nukes.
I prefer the candy and naked women tipped ones myself, but I have been unable to get any government to go along with me on that one.
Oh shit, I better start practicing safer porn viewing!

Too bad we aren't in the 80s anymore where some execs had the unofficial title of CDHO ->:Chief Drugs and Hookers Officer.

*insert Sony rootkit joke*
So these two rootkits walk into a bar....
They will probably just wait for the inevitable event of someone hurting themselves and suing the place into bankruptcy.

You have to wonder if MacArthur is out there somewhere waving his finger saying "I TOLD YOU SO!"

Yes, but that still isn't allowed to be stated in a slashdot summary... I mean think of the group think, won't someone PLEASE think of the groupthink!
