The fat ones with all the money never learn... I can just imagine them scrambling to protect their precious "reputation" that we all spit on anyways. Bloody weasels. They never quit until we finally cut them all down. All this has happened before and all this will happen again.
Curious to know, at what point someone like you would say we have a "complete" understanding? In a way you're implying that what can be discovered is finite, though there is no real evidence that that is the case.
This reminds me of "the theory of everything" and Stephen Hawkins eventually saying something like "we will never see it". The reason, though philosophical does stand if you contemplate it long enough. The problem really stems from the fact that when you have a model that describes your problem, you'd be hard pressed to search for another model. Languages serve as models, and their ability to describe very different aspects that could potentially mean the same thing states that, well, you can describe the same thing in many differing ways. Just the other day there was a long debate on/. about how.9... is exctly 1 and.3... is exactly a third. I mean... we can have differing notations for one single value. This is just more of the same thing.
Not funny at all if you reason this out. The key is that it does NOT hold your hand. That means that if you write nonobjective, non-generic, and nonfunctional code, you'll get exactly that. Why don't you try actually understanding the code you write then??
There is either something wrong with your memory or you haven't been paying attention. C and C++ STILL solve problems that hadn't been solved before. That is reality. The only people who consider them "worthless" are the people who do not comprehend them.
The problem might be with you rather than people. Your last paragraph is telling. "Hanging out" is not a chore, it is a pass time, to be savoured like any other intellectual endeavour. There are other things than mere logic to be cultivated.
Do not be so quick to judge. You said it yourself, the man is a gentleman, despite the negative reputation that precedes him (around here). Some of us are still interested in duking this out based on the actual merits of the proposition. I'd like to think that I'm one of those people. I never was one for holding an opinion that makes no sense.
I'm actually pointing out a fundamental logical flaw; you contradict yourself. You say "there is nothing inherently good," and then state "except for the benefits you get from it." How can there be nothing good if there are benefits??
Hitler saw both Japan and Italy as pawns in his own game. They were never going to have a share of power. For Hitler, the entire earth was for his taking.
A bit of a nitpick, but I'd like to point out that there's no such thing as "BSD Linux". From Wikipedia: "Certain parts from FreeBSD's and NetBSD's implementation of Unix were incorporated in NeXTSTEP, the core of Mac OS X." FreeBSD and NetBSD are two distinct Unix like operating systems as is Linux. Two BSD's have more in common with each other than they do with Linux, and usually, GNU is used by all 3 to make a complete system. Personally, I use GNU on Mac OS X too, but I digress.
Your anger is misdirected completely. These are merely things that we've (humans) have written over the years, regardless of motives. Such a record should be studied. Such a record reveals what humans were over a long period of time. It's a good window into our own psychology. It's how the powers that were decided that history should look like. It's really quite fascinating. Enough with the fear mongering, as basically, you sound just as fanatical and arrogant as the people you're trying to describe.
OT... I'm curious about this language... I have a similar personal project on the go. What is the motive behind it? I have yet to find anyone interested enough in this subject to bounce ideas off of.
I have a serious problem with this mentality. Alcohol cannot tear anything apart. It's an inanimate object. People's actions are what tearing relationships apart.
It's like saying good ol' Melly (Gibson) isn't responsible for the shit that spews from his various orifices. Why should he be excused for behaving rudely while drunk? Did someone force feed him the alcohol or something?
The key to this problem is the one we keep avoiding at all costs. Make people responsible for their actions.
Agreed. I would add that its not so much "our" culture that says excess is bad, but rather it's our common sense. Unfortunately, common sense, as the saying goes, is anything but "common".

All this is is just the very basics of restoration tech. No conspiracy. Not even news.
I just might want to see that...

There go your mixins. Seriously. Panic much?

Just forego it altogether. "0% trans fats" is also "100% so what".
Whatever happened to punching someone in the face and just saying 'no, you can't do that to me'. Oh well, insanity ensues.
Depending on what you're programming... Being drunk may or may not be a problem. In the case of facebook, I'd bet it was not.

Do you really not see the problem with that statement?

Why is this flamebait? Ideals aside, this would indeed save time and cut the crap out of what's already happening. If anything, it's insightful.
Today I did not expect to hear the voice of reason. Thank you.

If people didn't have sex, methinks we wouldn't have the current crop of anyone :).
Fail.
Nudity is not porn.
