  1. "The idea is that China will not be a respected space power until it starts accomplishing things in space that no other country has done before."

Just remove "in space" and then control and eliminate your pollution and reduce your population and you will have all the respect the World could ever give you.

What happens in space... not too many people really care, but down here on Earth, taking care of the massive pollution and population you've created is the real challenge.

    Not "ants on the moon".

  2. So no matter what we are going to attach cars and the "street" to the Internet? That's a good idea?
And there is a serious question as to whether that control should be privatized?

Let me convey my feelings about that as one concerned citizen.

Never has it been more insulting, and dangerous, than to consider privatizing public utilities and assests, and thereby making people dependent on corporations to manage something we all use and need.
Privatization never turns out well for the end user, and no matter what you say about the government running things, it's a damn sight better than some corporation.

  3. "Will it be well-received?"

Fuck no, no ones wants "suggestions" (ads) in their GUI.

  4. I'm curious about the point in which we have autonomous and "manned" cars on the road simultaneously.
What sort of response will the human make to machine organized traffic.
Road rage maybe? Or a more peaceful driving experience, until that is, autonomous is all there is.

  5. FB has too much going with verified identities, everything from proof they have a real consistent person for advertisers to verified log ins for things like Huffingtonpost.

My guess is at least one of FB's goals is to become the "single login" to the internet.

I know that part will be true of FB's internet connectivity services.

Then simply never register for the site, and frankly yet another reason to dump your Facebook account if you have one.

Love the kits they sell, I got one for my MBP when the battery needed changing came with all the doodads you needed to get it done (plus a better battery).
Same with my buddies iphone battery, little kit came with everything plus battery for $30.
I like ifixit, and fuck Apple.

I'm glad someone that sees the truth of the "refugee crisis" and "illegal immigration" gets some publicity.

The truth of Islam, is that it is never happy being the little church down the road, it must be the church, the state, and the law.

  16. First, if they are moving from 7 to 10 they are learning a new OS, and if they are on Win8 they have already been under the auto update yoke.

Second, they are more likely locked into a program rather than a OS, consider what it is they have to run on Windows, is there an equivalent in Linux?

If so, the "learn a new OS" complaint (while valid) isn't as hard as they might think these days, there is a sort of "start button" and there is a menu and it should not be that difficult.

The main thing I would stress, if they are on Win 7, is why update? Does it do what you want? Then leave it be and in time there will be a solution offered to make win10 more palatable for them.

Too many people got caught up in the "free upgrade" and I already hear complaints on the gaming servers, lots of regret there and very few "it's better stories".

The whole Win10 thing seems like MS making it easier for themselves while beating up and robbing their customers (of personal data).

  20. Huh on Startups Push 3D Printers As Industry Leaders Falter · · Score: 1

3D printing becomes a more mainstream form of manufacturing.

    Why would it?
You can't print things fast enough with consumer level gear to make it a business, they are too expensive to be anything other than a spendy hobbyist toy.
If you are referring to industrial 3d printing that already occurs.

Not to mention most of the 3d printed stuff I come across is of lower quality than already existing manufacturing techniques.

  21. Would a husband and wife with as active sex life (for proximity) have roughly identical "germ clouds".

I came across some information on gut bacteria showing that couples quite often share the same gut bacteria (to a degree) after being together for a while.

Of course that depends on factors like how often they kiss etc.
