You obviously haven't played many FPSs on a console then, because they do in fact "work". Just because you don't want to believe that they can work, doesn't mean they don't.
In this case, yea. You were missing the point. It wasn't meant to make the game more fun. It was meant to show that ray tracing was possible on a fairly modern game. It's like modding a toaster to run BSD, or adding a laser turret to your mailbox: a substantial reason for doing it is to see if it's possible.
I was about to say something along those lines too. Even though HW looks fairly fun, Ensemble will always be remembered to me and a lot of my friends as Age of Empires.
Interesting, because my story is the exact opposite. I've played the Wii once in the past 3 months, and that was for an hour, playing Brawl with my cousins.
Well, it's a lose-lose. If he votes against it, the Republicans will hammer him to hell about "not being tough on terrorists". If he votes for it, a bunch of his voters will be pissed with him.
Well, in this case, there is no real story. ET:QW is a purely multiplayer game, unless you wanna play against only bots. It's quite playable too. (and runs on linux if you download something from id!)
Guy publishes some hints. Bored astronomer sees the hints and investigates them. Bored astronomer publishes some thoughts and things he's seen, possibly more hints. Another astronomer reads the hints and investigates too.
So now there are 3 people investigating this issue, so the issue will probably be solved faster, especially if they are all working together.
Sure, you could say that they should be working on other stuff that isn't just a bunch of hints, but they are bored astronomers for a reason:)
Does the UK include all the British properties? I knew the difference between GB/UK, but I was thinking about what would happen if North Ireland ever gained independence.

Giving money to people who put DRM on their games is not an effective way to "fuck DRM".

The RIAA is the Enclave? My god it's all so clear now.
So your solution is to buy the game, which means that Bethsoft gives money to SecuROM, and then bypassing it.
So you're going to...protest...SecuROM by...giving them money?
Please protest me.
So you're making a stand against the DRM...by giving the DRM company money? Hot damn, please take a stand against me.

Might wanna take a look at Quake Wars: Enemy Territory then.
I have the Win95 version from A Long Time Ago, and it ran fine under vista.

Oddly, Prey was developed by the other game company in Madison, WI: Human Head.
Raven must be stealing stuff from across the city now!

You missed the funny. He's making fun of /.ers and their lack of firsthand knowledge of sex.
Yea, and Digg appears to be the atomic bomb.
/.-effect! (anymore)
Nobody expects the

CowboyNeal: "Fairly."

Would _you_ trust CowboyNeal on French?

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars was released last year. So there's at least one. Amazingly fun game too!
So when does the study saying that surfing slashdot at work helps productivity come out?
I'd be really interested in seeing that one...
Oh crap, time to get back to work.

I saw his low user ID and I checked out his posting history. It said "Viewing 24 of 1337 posts." or something to the effect.
Congratulations sir. This post was your 1337th.
At that point they had far more important things to do.
Such as dodging chairs.
Well, when you have a good chunk of the world's population, things will tend to happen to you first.
