It's funny when your entire rant on why Sony upgrades the firmware (because they're being mean) vs. Nintendo not upgrading it (because they're being nice) is completely invalidated by the fact that the only reason Nintendo doesn't upgrade the firmware is because it's pretty much impossible to do so. I assure you, if it were made that way, Nintendo would update the DS so that the passkey's did not work.
All games that require mandatory upgrades come with the firmware right on the UMD. To upgrade you simply run it. It's not hard, a 5 year old could do it.
Are you being tongue in cheek? Terminator 3? The Matrix 2 and 3? If you enjoyed the matrix sequels, I'm sure there are 5 other people out there you can go out and form a club with. Seriously, the sequels of the Matrix took what made the Matrix good and added an assfull of shit. Don't even get me started on Terminator 3.
Notice that the article says "Windows successor" and not "Windows Vista successor". This isn't about the next version of Windows after Vista. This is about the next operating system from Microsoft after Windows. And I can understand them not having a timetable for it.
My TV has a DVI input that supports HDCP...is it technically possible to create a HDMI -> DVI converter so that my HDTV does not become worthless junk when they finally turn on the ICT?
What? This was a clock-for-clock compairison, nothing more. Also considering that the FX-60 costs much more than the Core Duo, I don't see what overclocking the FX-60 would prove.
The whole point of this was to show the potential of the Core architechture, not to compare how much each chip can be overclocked.
It's really a matter of opinion. Personally? I hate Azureus, within Windows anyway. It's bloated, takes forever to load, feels sluggish, and generally to me is just average.
That's exactly what I meant. And you're right, no, that's not a bad thing. The idea of profit varies widely from person to person, it's just that certain profits benefit society more than others.
If they tell the truth, then most likely they do get something out of it. Perhaps they think if they tell the truth in cases that it might not be in their best interest, they'll still earn and maintain the respect of people.
People always tell the truth to benefit themselves, whether that's profit-wise or otherwise.
I agree with most of your statement, except this:
While that's a nice idea and all I would have to argue that this had better be one hell of an encryption algorithm. So you store the games locally and a server provides the key to 'unlock' it? What's to stop a LOCAL proxy from doing just that? MS is still hurting from their last romp with piracy.
That's definitely doable, just look at Steam. It's not actually that bad an idea, although the 360 would need hell of a lot bigger hard drive than what it has now.
7 minutes? There must be some weird technical problem going on there, because my iPod, even with no syncing, takes about 30 seconds maximum.
For reference, I have a 3G 20GB iPod.
What really worries me is that Google certainly appears like it has something to hide, the other organizations subpeonaed yield up the information without hesitation.
What happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? Just because they refuse to give up information does not mean they have something to hide. This type of thinking will lead society into a more "guilty until proven innocent" mindset, and I fear that is a very dangerous path to be heading down.
Just so you know, HDMI isn't the only thing that supports HDCP. DVI does too, so if your TV has a DVI port, you just may be ready for the HD content. Check your TV/Manual.
Nice attempt at a troll. Did you even read the article? The port it uses is also heavily used for financial transactions around the world. They'd be insane just to block it.

It's been cracked, by someone in the Netherlands I think, but they refuse to release their findings due to the DCMA. I'd link it, but I don't know the link offhand, and I believe a comment earlier on had a link to the same page.

I always thought it was Hypertext Preprocessor.
Oh come on, Digg is just as full of Apple fanatics as Slashdot is. If you like Digg so much, do us a favour and go hang out there.

Google is not a number. See Googol. Note that it's not spelled "Google".

Yeah. They might as well...um... stick a rootkit in it...yeah. Damn those bastards at Sony!
Just a question regarding HDCP and HDMI..

Yes. Never buy more RAM from Apple, they really rip you off in that department.

How is that great marketing? Great marketing to people who already have the system? Who is going to buy a 360 just to watch E3 trailers?

I wouldn't say that 9 days after release is quite some time. If you want a colored one, wait a little more than a week and there you go.

That doesn't mean anything. If I made a console, manufactured one, and sold it, I'd be selling every console I can manufacture as well.
