I have seen plenty of Authors & reporters trying to publish these issues in mainstream news, but unfortunatley not many people pay attention because our basic rights & privilages arn't that important when Terrorism is much more glossy and sells a lot better.
When this war on Terror eventually gets old, people are going wonder what happened to all their basic civil liberty's, why mega corporations dictiate what they do, why health & education aren't working etc etc.
1. Microsoft Buys anti-spyware,
2. Microsoft buys up all spyware company's
3. Microsft delcares the war on spyware is won & emails 7 billion email addresses announcing that the WinXp SP 15 will be "Spyware Free"
Im just coming from the economical side, I work as a technician in public schools and the money that the Government spends on software licences for M$ products is huge.
90% of all my problems are troubleshooting desktop problems with WinXP and also problems with Word, Excell & Outlook. I am not saying that by using Linux these problems will disapear, but it will be cheaper to support these Programs because less is being spent on software licencing.
Its simple economics the only difference between a Linux system & Windows system for users who only need to use the basics is price, why spend X amount of dollars on one thing when you can get the same result much cheaper.
I do believe in choice, but I don't see the logic in going to the expense of something because its believed to be easier, I am not completley Pro linux, but in a government environment where Tax payers are paying for everything, the best value alternative seems much more appealing.
I agree, I don't see why they wont migrate acrosst to it, the basic user only needs email, internet & office products which all can be operated easily from KDE, they don't really need to know powerful desktop functions.
They should aim to make Linux the standard SOE & using Microsoft products to support users who require more specialised programs.
I am a technician and for a lot of my clients at work they have installed home routers and even after reading the documentation they still feel a little confused by it all, they don't understand how encryption works and are a little intimidated by it, especially configuring WEP keys in Hex and then configuring the WiFi card to provide the right key.
i have made extra buisness out of going out to clients houses & spending 10 minutes going through with them how to secure their connection & explaining what encryption is & does.
The message manufactuers fail to get across is that your WiFi is extremley unsafe, they make security seem like an option not a necessity.
For someone who see's an Add on TV about Centrino & internent anywhere, then goes to Wallmart & buys a router for their new notebook and purchases it without really understanding what it is its quite easy to see how many people have absolutley no clue when it comes to security because they don't really understand what they have bought in the first place.
Even though it was an unsecured network, he was still stealing network bandwidth & accessing something he shouldn't be, its fair that he was caught & should be punished for it.
Just because a user isn't smart enough to use an encryption doesn't mean its ok to rip them off & steal from them.
there is a huge problem with Security though, the WiFi routers work as soon as you plug them in and the documentation doesn't stress enough how important it is to secure your network, terms like WEP & WPA-PSK scare the user & confuse them. I think the router manufactuers or the salesmen need to make their customers more aware of securing their networks and show them how easy it is to do.
I wonder how long before we see a suit where a customer sues a manufacturer for not making security clear & easy enough to set up when they purchased & installed a router.
It is just the services evolving to become more integrated with our needs, although it will be some years before traditional phones become redundant, the change has happened, the same way Tapes were replaced by CD's.
Technnology models our own natural evolution, its pretty unavoidable.
What I don't understand is how parents never seem to understand that ratings are on games for a reason, they wouldn't walk into an adult video store & buy their kid Cum Guzzlers if their kid asked, but yet they buy them an explicit video game with no problems, but then complain about it after they realise what it is.
These days parents are never blamed for anything, its always someone else's fault, its Rockstars fault my kid steals cars, its Manson's fault my kids satanic & shoots his school friends, its the Movie Industries fault my kids on drugs.
Parents are responsible for their own kids, they control what they can & can't do, its that simple, excuses like "I don't have time" or "I can't be there 24/7" are pure crap, if you can't handle the responsibility of having a kid, dont have one!!!!!!
My parents controlled what I had access to and could see, I was never allowed to sit zonked on video games or TV all day, they would allocate me time where I could play games & watch TV, then make me do other things like play out side, which is what any parent should do, your job is to raise and educate your child teaching it morals & ethics, not just give it a playstation so you have more free time.
The real issue is with the parenting, not with the violent video games, but as I said before, its always somebody else's fault!
If anyone were to suggest that Parents should be criminally responsible for raising a criminal it would cause a shit storm, but everyone is happy to blame everyone else.
Governments have been giving money to oil company's for years for oil exploration and R&D, they do it to keep oil company's based in States & Countries because of the amount of economical growth they can create for the local economy.
Its big buisness where they choose to set up their bases, governments jump at the chance when an oil company decides it wants to build a new plant/office.
I just saw tonight, I went in expecting not that much but was really impressed, it was funny but I thought it just felt empty, like they picked out the funniest things, but didnt back them up with even more funny stuff like the book did> I went with a bunch of people who had no idea what Hitchikers was until I dragged them along & they loved it, they were laughing the whole movie & loved the humor style, so much so they are all buying the books. The movie seemed to be not designed for the devoted fans, but more for the mass market, which is a shame. LOTR was a film by the fans, for the fans & everyone else loved it, its a pitty the hollywood commercialisation ruled & they made it too sterile.
What about background noise in a busy shopping centre or something?? Hows it going to cope with that.
Being in a line at the supermarket I can't even use voice tags on my phone.
Because they are in international waters whats their security, a boat full of computer nerds isn't going to put up a fight against a bunch of raiders who decide they want to "aquire" a whole heap of new computers to sell cheaply, no police will help a boat thats used to avoid tax laws getting raided in international waters.
Also whats to stop the RIAA or the MPAA blowing the boat out of the water if they get scared they are developing a new evil P2P network to steal their work?
Druglabs, how else are the drug baron's going to cook up all their products?
Yeah girls may be using DVR's but thats because the guys have figured out BitTorrent. We are really one step ahead!
A lan party???
How is it a router if it has to plug into a PC to use its internet connection and not nativley negotiate it coming in?
Wouldn't you just buy a router dedicated to handle both connections sepratley? They are not that expensive these days.

A team of geeks recently bought R2-D2 from an auction, it took them 16 hours to get it to run linux.

PD in basic linux isn't hard especially with KDE.

I think Hue Jackman would make an awesome Indy, if I were to choose someone to replace Harrison, it would be him.

Governments aren't putting more emphasis on alternative energy solutions like this and keep giving money to Oil Company's to further Fossil Fuels.
Our own economy is going to end up ruining this world simply because everyone is too afraid to loose money by backing away from petrolium

Whats going to happen to fireworks now???
Will Adobe put the same amount of effort into it as they do with photoshop??
I like photoshop, but everything I have learned I first did in fireworks & I feel more comfortable using it.
I hope Adobe won't force people across to photoshop to save a few bucks continuing to develop fireworks.
