    I think you are confusing leagues with teams

    Leagues are sponsored and run the tournaments, which the players/teams come to compete in and win prize money

    Teams are sponsored and provide their players with salaries/travel to events/hardware, whether they take a cut from players is up to them /I work for an international eSports league

    I'm by no means an historian (nor paticularly good at remembering what I was taught in history lessons), but if I remember correctly didn't Hungary have an uprising that was put down by the red army (during which they called for NATO help but were ignored).

    Would hardly class that as "free to leave".

    In the UK the trend is for freshers (our freshmen) to stay in halls (our dorms) for the first year (most Unis guarantee a space in halls for all freshers who put the Uni down as their first choice), afterwards moving into share houses

    I've been a gamer my whole life, I haven't been to a store to buy games in years. In the UK we have Play.com which 99% of the time is much cheaper than any store, and has free delivery which is pretty fast too.

    Last time I went inside a game store was to waste 10 mins while waiting to something else.

    Majority of gamers who attend these events are sponsored, a handful do it out of their own pockets (acelethal from the UK paid his own way to some stops last year)

    The Winter CPL tournament isn't required to qualify for anything, it will give some autoberths for the first World Series stop next year I guess, as well as improve seedings to give you an easier run.

    POP3 is still free, and has never been not-free, I remember the first mail Yahoo sent about POP3 going to pay-to-use but it has never once forced me to pay.

    I've had free POP on Yahoo since as long ago as 2000 and it hasn't stopped working once, and I've used 3 different accounts in that time.

    Um, there have been shoutcasters in gaming for years, seen http://www.radioitg.com/ and http://www.tsncentral.com/
