So basically, you were very smug about breaking the law. They specifically tell you NOT to do things like this in SANS classes unless first getting permission in writing. In this case you would have needed permission from Starbucks and most likely from the University. Possibly even from the individual students in the class. Breaking these rules is generally a quick way to be removed from the class and having any prior certifications by SANS revoked.
You know what I just realized? That when someone starts a sentence with "I have never understood why..." it means they have understood why perfectly for a long time, and hate it.
Well, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gecko dust and dirt that could prevent the van der Waals forces that geckos toes use, are removed within a couple steps due to "self-cleaning" properties. If they are able to reproduce the effect properly, the lifespan of the product could be quite significant.
From the article:
"What we've seen from the exploit so far is it stealing game passwords, but it's inevitable that it will be adapted by criminals," he said.
What does he think the people stealing the game passwords are? They're CRIMINALS. Stealing passwords to snag items from games, sell them in game, then sell the gold for PROFIT. The second market gold selling business has a LARGE amount of money flowing through it with a big profit margin.
I mostly agree with you. However, this article was calling to light that Microsoft had actually tested for this very thing and came up with multiple workarounds because it saw it as a problem. Many users of the 360 aren't technical and wouldn't see a problem with tilting their console. After all, they can tilt their discman, and the console is supposed to be able to operate in both positions.
Kind of obvious actually. Apple had problems because their customers for iTouch weren't subscribed for a SERVICE in association with their device that included updates/patches. iPhone users are though, through their contract with their carrier, and the carrier's contract with Apple. XBox 360 owners are also subscribed for a service through XBox Live, whether through Silver or Gold memberships.
I'm not quite sure why this was labeled as flamebait. It wasn't meant that way... I'm just rather sad that the state of editing in general (not just Slashdot) has slipped to such a great degree. I regularly find and cringe at overlooked spelling and MAJOR grammatical errors in all sorts of media. I find that seeing them in fiction books is the worst though, as it really interrupts the story. It's almost as if an M-80 went off in the same room or something.
I'm pretty sure that this is the point. Developers have been looking at ways to minimize resales for quite a while now.
Yes, actually. Mod parent up!
Your favorite game EVAR?
Posting to remove "troll" mod. Meant to click insightful and missed. Grr, /. should have a way to modify your mod other than replying to a post.
I don't know why, but your comment made me laugh more than any other I've read in a while.

Very astute observation.
That's an XKCD reference, boy. You know what we do to XKCD referencers around here?
Cheer them on and be reminded to go check out the recent comics at XKCD? /cheer
Oops, accidentally moderated this comment 'funny' instead of 'informative'. I missed! Anyways, posting this to cancel my mod.

I completely agree with you about the TV thing. Low tech compared to the high tech their phone COULD be using.
Why is parent marked flamebait?
I wish someone had modded parent as Troll. :)

LOL! Oh, if I only had mod points.

What a HORRIBLY inappropriate comment! ...and yet I laughed for about 15 seconds or so. *sigh*
Wow, I wish I could mod this entire conversation both Funny AND Informative. 'Cause it's certainly both. :)
I see a sig in the making...
LOL! Hilarious sig man...
Hey, I can be pedantic.
Should I expect anything less? :)
Maybe a bit. It's not 100% voluntary though.
