I defy her, you or anyone to start mouthing off at an Egyptian or Iranian airport and see where you end up. It won't be in a queue filling out paperwork.
Indeed. In fact it seems like an almost a weekly event now where an african (often darfur) refugee trying to sneak across the border from egypt into israel is shot dead by egyptian border guards.. they don't even bother to ask questions after shooting and it probably never makes the news.. just one more dead african.
Of course if it was an arab killed by israeli border guards it would be front page news around the world.
"That’s not correct. The entire blueprint of the device was created by me. And we also have hired direct resources, including the former head of hardware at Vudu, as well as very high level software engineers, who have worked directly on the project here and in Singapore with the Fusion Garage team."
Not sure what he means by 'entire blueprint' but anyway he clearly states that he hired hardware and software engineers to work directly on the project.
AFAIK, he initiated the project, hired engineers (hw & sw), generated masses of publicity through his blogs and business network, hosted FG people at his offices, allegedly made all sorts of distribution deals.. and presumably spending considerable sums in the process. Seems like he (and his company) did rather a lot and was the prime (and very public) driving force from the start.
FG's own blog apparently gave credence to Arringtons version which is probably why they took it down.. unfortunately for them the 'incriminating' posts still exist on google cache and likely many other places. Oops.
However FG have Bruce Lee on their side so it will be a tough fight.. Arrington may need to call in Chuck Norris for some roundhouse support.
Are you forgetting Techcrunch (and several related sites) itself? I'd say he already did the startup thing on his own and appears to be doing quite well.
Also he was co-founder of another startup a few years ago which deadpooled. So he's been there, done that too.
Not to mention enough electrical power to keep your android body moving for some useful length of time. Assuming you have a life-size humanoid body I would think that that's going to require a lot of power.

Twitter does have its (commercial) uses but there seems to be such an enormous amount of crap posted and 'retweeted' ad infinitum. I hope bing/google can reliably filter and sort it so only good stuff surfaces but I have my doubts.
Early in the sixteenth century, Wan decided to take advantage of China's advanced rocket and fireworks technology to launch himself into outer space. He supposedly had a chair built with forty-seven rockets attached. On the day of lift-off, Wan, splendidly attired, climbed into his rocket chair and forty seven servants lit the fuses and then hastily ran for cover. There was a huge explosion. When the smoke cleared, Wan and the chair were gone, and was said never to have been seen again.
Fascinating stuff for sure but when can I upload my own mind to such an artificial brain? Then I could be immortal! (as long as the batteries don't run flat)
Make multiple copies and fire them off into space for a '5 year mission' and when/if they return do a brain dump. Neat!
Tigers are clearly a danger to the parks visitors so the new visitor safety campaign appears to be a great success and tourists can now roam freely around the tiger park without worrying that they or their children might become a tiger snack.
Include the oceans in that "wilderness" and you can really get away from it all.. buy/build a strong boat and drift aimlessly around the oceans like this guy. Only snag is the isolation may drive you nuts.
He may have had a huge effect on the music industry, but he didn't have much effect on the rest of the world - which amounts to quite a lot.
750M albums sold and about 6B people on the earth now plus no doubt hundreds of millions more singles sold, dvd's, videos viewed on mtv and every other channel in the world, countless radio station plays and of course the internet.. I'd say he had an effect on a VERY significant portion of the worlds population.
I'd hazard a guess and say there are very few people anywhere in the world that don't know him, even in the remotest, most backwards regions.. he's probably more famous than god and can moonwalk better.
It certainly wasn't "the music industry" that bought his music, they just profited from it.
Just to show how popular he still is - his new shows set to start next month in London sold out within hours - 50 shows, 1 million tickets.. and thats just for concerts in one country. That is impressive!
Like him or not, good or bad, he did have an effect.
Well you could go to the local martial arts center to spar with a real opponent but that also comes with drawback of real brain damage when you get kicked in the head!;)
At least with the xbox you only have to worry about 'trivial' stuff like pulled muscles and heart attacks - unless players start trying back flips or something.
Somehow I foresee many lawsuits coming out of project natal..
Imagine the humans of 1900 trying to pose a credible threat to or hide from the humans of 2009.
The Taliban and their ilk do a fair job and they're firmly rooted several centuries in the past.. and just where is osama bin laden hiding? The most advanced superpower the world has known has been trying to find him for years now with no luck at all.. cunning, guerrilla tactics and fanaticism go a long way.
There could be all sorts of cool stuff waiting to be discovered under the ice down there in Antarctica.. maybe atlantis (unlikely), or the fortress of solitude (slightly more likely), but more than anything it is really the last (mostly) unspoiled wilderness on the planet and it is a very big place!
I for one would quite like to go exploring there if it was just a tad warmer..;)

Or you could just go stand in the middle of an empty field and shout "BANG" really loud.. would be just as effective.. ;)

credit for Prototype C
But who gets credit for A and B? Was FG involved in those at all?

Android Body with enough computation power
Not to mention enough electrical power to keep your android body moving for some useful length of time. Assuming you have a life-size humanoid body I would think that that's going to require a lot of power.
Issue 9 is kind of a mouthful to pronounce
So maybe just call it I9
Lets Go!

Book published in 2007

Here it is in google..
http://www.google.com/search?q=site:lulu.com+go+programming
Yes that search is with a site restriction but still it is indexed by google and the page is more than a day old.
No good can come of this..
"For millions of years man and rats had been natural enemies. But now for the first time - suddenly, shockingly, horribly - the balance of power had shifted."

and nothing of value was found..

This must be how Yahoo plans to combat the yahoo-->google brain drain - a cunning plan indeed!
Clearly you can take the conference out of vegas but you can't take vegas out of the conference.. ;)
It's just entertainment and it has entertained millions for decades.. job done.
If you want real science, read a text book.
I'm curious who the other nominees were that lost out to this bizarre result.. were they so unworthy?
The six-continent combined-America model is taught in Latin America, and some parts of Europe including Greece, Portugal, Spain and Italy.

So Wan Hu made it to the moon after all!

CEO appreciation day
That would be any day the CEO feels like it and generally involves a fat bonus and some high class escorts.. ;)

And then there's Will Smith.. ;)
All works fine for me on centos with firefox.. I'm quite liking it so far. Its nice to have a usable alternative to Google at last.
